  1. I found it interesting to see some of the teams that appeared early on in the chart which tracked Premiership points with Clydebank and Ayr making brief appearances and Falkirk, Dunfermline and Airdrie jockeying for position before Airdrie eventually dropped off the table. We really need to get some football played again so Motherwell can get off the not-so-coveted 1690 points total.
  2. What was that - not gathering a cross and then moaning about the winning goal in the 1991 Scottish Cup final? That's what I remember him for.
  3. Glad to see the talk of the club pushing for proper discussions which cover numerous options as, from what I heard from Ann Budge on Saturday, it sounds as they're trying to push through one proposal which is basically to save Hearts from relegation.
  4. From what I remember, they were nothing remarkable. Just 3 or 4 sets of double turnstiles in the brick boundary wall that extended to the main stand. There were another couple of turnstiles in the end wall of the main stand in the corner that was formed which led to the south enclosure in front of the main stand. That's where I was taken when I was a boy and lifted over the turnstile until it was getting to the point where I could just have lifted my dad over. Great place to watch the game for a small kid - plenty of room to mess about and also really close to the pitch and players.
  5. Normally I would take anything in the Daily Record with a large pinch of salt but Scott Burns is pretty reliable on Motherwell-related issues. Didn't know he'd moved to the Record to be honest.
  6. I can't make my mind up whether that song is for Willie Pettigrew or Johnny Gaghan for me although Pettigrew certainly fitted better. The Galloway one makes me laugh. You could see he got wound up by it so it was just sung more often at every away ground in particular. I'm sure I've seen old highlights where it comes across loud and clear.
  7. I assume they can't afford to pay the staff and are using the government scheme to do it while using a volunteer to do some stuff for free. It's better to be furloughed (and not be allowed to work) than be made part-time due to the limited amount of work you can do.
  8. I totally understand why the club is trying to sell season tickets but one of the big uncertainties is how many games there will be next season.
  9. I would have thought it would be preferable to complete the season and scrap the league cup for one season. If it is really necessary to have the league cup, then have it in the second half of a truncated season e.g. no split or 2 rounds of fixtures and then the split. I know there will be the issue of contracts running out but I'm sure the majority of players would agree to extend for a month unless they've signed a PCA. There's no easy answer and it's going to be the least of umpteen evils.
  10. Trying a Williams Bros' Scots Pine Ale clocking in at a tidy 7.5%. Quite nice and sweet but couldn't drink a lot of it ( or I'd fall over).
  11. It's only extended highlights rather than the whole game but it's been a cracker with some real quality play from both sides. Commentator's pronunciation of Bonner has annoyed me much more than it should though.
  12. The BBC Scotland channel is showing this game in its entirety tonight as part of their ongoing series. For those shocked by the challenges and lack of cards in the 1991 final shown last week, their website has a teaser showing a challenge by Pat Bonner on Billy Kirkwood which he somehow doesn't receive a card for. Wow, just wow! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/52127632
  13. I clicked on the Herald article and saw the picture of him with his wife. I then assumed the new partner was going to be a younger, more glamourous upgrade on his wife but, having looked her up ..... I would just diplomatically say he has a different taste in women from me.
  14. I can see this developing like something out The Shining! There's going to be a whole raft of films set in this lockdown period once we're through this whether it's scientist dramatically racing to find a cure or people going nuts as they're trapped in with their family.
  15. I've been catching up on this thread. Ah, such innocent times.
  16. The Spurs game was slightly before my time but I'm not aware of it having any song associated with it or even 1991 or any subsequent losing cup finals.
  17. Forgive me if I've missed it, but what has Dyson done this time? I thought he had offered to help.
  18. As a visiting fan, I prefer The Saints Are Coming when I go to St. Johnstone although that's trumped by Into The Valley, also by The Skids, when I go to Dunfermline. Unfortunately I can't remember the last time I went there as Dunfermline have been shit for so long.
  19. Yes, the BBC website now confirms it's the replay you mentioned. If the 1991 game looks dated, I wonder how this will look. Were there any significant rule changes between 1981 and 1991?
  20. To be fair, Scrappy Doo was an abomination in the Scooby Doo series. My cultural references in the office weren't helped by the one guy of a similar age to me being Irish. Music was generally ok but tv references were a bit hit and miss, particularly adverts. The Irish guy was obviously completely onto plums when he started talking about Irish tv adverts from 30 odd years ago, resulting in internal emails linking to shite YouTube clips.
  21. I probably wouldn't be too impressed by their bluntness but I really couldn't take issue with any of that. And no, I'm not Tam Cowan.
  22. I'm in my late forties and the younger guys in my office frequently give me blank looks as they have no idea about the cultural reference I have just used. Recent example was something about "The Last Rolo". It seems perfectly normal to me but nothing to anyone 15 or 20 years younger. I quite enjoy OTB when I listen to it but I'm of an age to get what they're saying but they need younger blood as they've a younger generation.
  23. Could be. They mentioned the games on the radio this afternoon so I only briefly caught it. I see United won 3-2 so that sounds like the type of game they're looking to put on.
