  1. I thought it was because they would have needed to buy the property at the end of the row of housing as the full length stand would have cut across their back garden. Motherwell subsequently bought the house and used if for office accommodation (in the eighties I think) but decided they weren't going to extend the stand so sold it again.
  2. There's a big difference between signing a three year contract and being tied to a club because of the development fee.
  3. Well, this discussion has taken some strange twists. What I'm wary of with the development fee is that we end up with the situation Craig Sibbald had at Falkirk where no-one was willing to pay the development fee. Sibbald had no intention of staying at Falkirk but had to sign the offered contract for a year until he was old enough that the development fee no longer applied. It's the one big failing of the development fee system and it won't do us or Cadden any favours if we can't get something favourable sorted out.
  4. Terry Butcher admitted that he was influenced and it affected his behaviour until it struck him that he needed to get a grip.
  5. What about Robinson's time in the English Championship- where does that put him against Canning?
  6. Don't forget VAT. I thought we were rumoured to be due 25% to Hartlepool - have you heard 40%?
  7. I suppose they see that as being one of the benefits of being seeded although you would have thought avoiding the teams around you in the seedings would be enough. Strangely I thought when we drew rangers a few years ago we had to wait on the fixtures to find out if we would be home or away.
  8. There's two nominations for James McLean, although I can't see them having to share any greenies.
  9. I'll nominate James McArthur (my auto correct tried to put in McCarthy which I think is pushing things a bit far).
  10. Remember being two up against them last season? I'd still be a nervous wreck for the rest of the game- I was only confident for the last 5 minutes of the semi.
  11. I take it any investment would be similar to previous investments and really just some sort of loan that would be added to the debt?
  12. The floors are checked for a certain load per square metre. I doubt you'd get more than one of these young ladies in a square metre so shouldn't be much of an issue. Might have to check for the concentrated load though!
  13. Aldred was brought in before Hartley was injured, presumably as back-up and to provide competition for places and it turned out to be fortuitous timing. I can't see why we wouldn't be trying to sign him in the summer unless wages are an issue.
  14. I keep hearing this but Scotland brought in the Premier Division long before England with slight adjustments since. If anything, they copied us (but I'll give you the Championship carry-on).
  15. While I don't agree with the principle of the proposals anyway, surely it fails on the merits of the clubs involved. Celtic have been fairly dominant at U-21 level in recent years (although I don't think they won the league last season) but Rangers haven't performed well at all at that level in recent years and even withdrew from the league to follow their own agenda. If this is such a brilliant idea then, to play devil's advocate, perhaps it should be Hibs and Ross County (for example) put forward.
  16. They tried to go to Pat not long after I got back to the car. They may have already gone to him for a report just after the final whistle but I doubt it as they had Rangers to talk about. Surely a major part of being the match reporter is you provide a match report after the game? As much as they were laughing and joking about it, he should be getting his arse kicked for that.
  17. They tried to go to Pat Bonner at Fir Park after the game tonight to get a report and found out he'd already buggered off home!
  18. I can understand most of these but Eliphas Shivute? I really can't think of anything remotely controversial or contentious he did in his short spell with Motherwell.
  19. Does that mean we're not sure about him due to his difficulties with injuries last season? Maybe it means he's unsure about us but if that's the case then why not just look for a club down south?
  20. Once living and playing here, the players brought up from the English lower leagues realise the size of Rangers and what they could pay without necessarily taking in everything else that comes with them. Unfortunately in those circumstances they could become an attractive proposition - Nicky Law was even prepared to drop down the divisions. Of course they still have to pay the money if the player is under contract.
  21. You're right (I was editing my post when you posted). My mind was playing tricks on me - I was sure we had him on loan initially but it was a bit of a bold move by McGhee to spend some cash on him.
