I like Tierney as a player but not sure how he fits into Kettlewell's shape. Are there signs he might change shape? He mentioned looking to bring in some wide players - unless he's talking about wing-backs that is surprising as he sidelined all Hammell's wide players when he came in. Have we been playing with his usual 3/5 at the back?

Cheating slightly here as it was last night and it was bad enough trying to keep up with the Motherwell game while out with the family. This IPA from the town's microbrewery La Graulenne is going down a treat.

Trying some beers from the local brewery Au Riz De Camargue. Their white beer is quite nice but I've still not had anything on this holiday to beat Grimbergen's Pale Ale (empty bottle in background).

Let us know. Like you, I think this could go either way.

I've been in a few different supermarkets this holiday and the choice of standard supermarket beer in France seems to have reduced to Kronenbourg (1664 or standard) or Heineken. You used to be able to get much more variation (I liked Biere 33 but it seems to have disappeared) - I guess the predominance of huge brewers affects here as much as anywhere. You get a much better range in supermarkets of the non-standard lager style beers though and the standard draught beer in a bar (a pression) could be a Heineken, Leffe, Kronenbourg, Grimbergen or Paulaner (in the case of this campsite). I only became aware of Grimbergen a few years ago but there range really seems to have grown - this Pale Ale is delicious, tastes like a mixture of a pale ale and a white beer.

From earlier this afternoon. I'm on the Grimbergen Blanche, McSquackle Jnr. is on Grimbergen Blonde (although he said he preferred mine). Both really nice in a stunning setting.

We've released Jake Carroll and I'm sure we wouldn't be difficult to deal with if you want to take Nathan McGinley off our hands.

And Pelforth Blonde. Less strong, less flavour. Almost seems like a normal (but very good lager) but dangerous at 5.8%.

Grimbergen Blonde. Very similar to Leffe and very nice.

Legal ebikes are restricted in power to something like 14 or 15 mph. The ones I see bombing about Glasgow (mainly delivery drivers) that don't seem to need any pedalling are, as you say, basically motor vehicles. I think they're either imported or somehow doctored to remove the restriction. It won't be long before we see some deaths on the road involving them unfortunately.

McGinley has his hands out as though claiming for a foul. Maybe it was and the ref is about to blow the whistle or maybe he's not been strong enough and fairly beaten to the ball. I don't know but personally prefer to give the doubt. Opinions based on previous performances are a whole different argument. I actually thought he was a better defender than Carroll who regularly got hung out to dry by his team-mates. I'd still prefer an upgrade at left back though.

With an alternative of Paulaner Weissbier. Even better!

Jupiler was the standard draught beer where I was on holiday last year- lovely stuff. It's McSquackle family holiday time again and the campsite beer this year is Paulaner. Can't complain!

I certainly can't be arsed trawling through the St. Mirren thread but was it not a bit of an open secret that they were spending more and viewing it as a top six budget? They finished sixth so mission accomplished and they seem to be using it as a springboard but, as you say, it's a risky business when the bigger teams have got themselves in order and realistically sixth is as high as you're likely to manage. At least Dundee United are a basket case.

Wouldn't need to extend the wall up for that reason. You need some sort of barrier for a difference in level more than 600mm. That's normally a steel handrail but maybe a wall was preferred as less maintenance involved. If it's intended to be a barrier it doesn't look high enough so I'm only speculating and don't really know.

Yeah, the club was open about further work being required and it was clear the way the banking at the side of the track was pretty dodgy for players and looked unfinished.

According to Wiki he was born in England and moved about a lot as his dad was in the army before moving to Hamilton when he was 10 (went to the same school as me but I was long gone by then). I've no idea if the area still has a pull on him but Motherwell/St. Mirren wouldn't make much of a difference.

The first game I can remember going to at Hampden was the 3-1 win over Spain in November 1984 with that Dalglish goal. I returned a few months later for Motherwell's cup semi-final against Celtic when we drew 1-1 (McAllister and Burns the scorers) before losing the replay but we were in the first division at that point. I'm sure I would have been to plenty of other internationals before these but I can't remember and would need to ask my dad. I'm pleased to say we're still going to the games together and, at the age of 80, he put the recent match against Spain in his top five Scotland performances.
