  1. That's what just about Ayr fan is thinking right now. The squad we've got now is already better than the one we had last year. I can't help but feel if we had even just signed Moffat last year we would have probably stayed up. I never thought we'd go full time last year and I definitely never thought in a million years we'd do just after getting relegated. Fair play to McCall for getting it done and better late than never but there's a part of me that wishes we'd done it 12 months ago.
  2. He's potentially a better defensive RB than we had with Devlin. Devlin's positioning was awful and his bombing runs forward left us short at the back. With Geggan we'll be much more solid at the back. In terms of having a player to dominate games, Docherty did that pretty will until his injury two seasons ago and Cairney had a similar effect at Stranraer. What I imagined Geggan being signed for was someone to break up the play and do the dirty work for the team. This is normally Adams job but he can't be relied on due to his injury proneness. He'll be tested at RB but I'm hoping it doesn't work at gets a starting spot in our midfield.
  3. Not a chance m8 He'll be signing a new contract tomorrow. I hope...
  4. Be good to see big Andy Graham back at Somerset Park next season, even if it is with Alloa.
  5. Unfortunately while he's a terrific signing and I'm very excited to see him back, I think McCall has said he'll start the season at right back to see how he gets on. Seems a waste of his talents to me.
  6. Dunno why you're discussing Geggan's ability in the Championship when it's completely irrelevant. We're in League One. A league that he absolutely strolled through last time he was in it. As did Docherty with us and Paul Cairney when he was with Stranraer.
  7. They were nowhere near the worst 3 midfielders in Championship.
  8. I'd be willing to stick my neck out and say that Andy Geggan, Ross Docherty and Paul Cairney are comfortably the 3 best midfielders in League 1 at the minute.
  9. Not pleasing as in funny but it's quite promising that we seem to be ahead of everyone else in a getting a squad together. The longer it takes for you appoint a manager the lower the chance there is of you signing better players as they'll be snapped up by Championship teams.
  10. Geggan was the best midfielder in the League last time around and can't see anyone in the Raith or Airdrie squads that is much better. The fact that we've almost assembled a full squad and Raith haven't got a manager yet is pleasing from an Ayr fans point of view.
  11. I'm sure even with your help we'd still find a way to f**k up the title race.
  12. The strange thing with where Geggan plays is that McCall made the point of saying he can play at right back so I would say he's our replacement for Nicky Devlin. Wouldn't complain if we did play him there as other Pars fans have said he's good at RB but he'd be the best midfielder in League 1 and we wouldn't get the benefits of that.
  13. Real Kashmir Sounds like something you'd see on a tag on the end of a woolly jumper.
  14. Would be grateful if you did go for him. It means that one of our title challengers would lose their best player. We obviously won't sign him so I'd be glad to get him out the division.
  15. Is he right-footed ?? If he is he might be perfect for us. We've currently got two left sided centre halfs but need someone to play on the right. Mind you I'd much rather see Andy Graham return. Is he signed up ??
  16. Ayr are relying on the regular cup tie against Dunfermline to save our club from liquidation. Seriously though, I will miss EEP next season. Had some decent games there in the last two seasons. Hope we get back there soon. This will be my favourite !!
  17. It does bring a bit of drama and will make the title race a lot more intense. Two clubs that are chasing the title because the long term future of their clubs is at stake. I might no be good for my heart but I'm looking forward to this.
  18. If you'd gone part time I wouldn't have been surprised to see a repeat of what happened to Cowdenbeath. A rapid decline to the depths of Scottish football. I've mixed feelings now about Raith going FT. On one hand it'll make for a much more exciting league with 3 FT teams and a challenging Alloa if they don't go up. However it also means there is no margin for error here. We've just went all in and if we don't go up (playoffs as a minimum) we could be in hot water.
  19. Unfortunately McCall is a midget in real life. Should've gave him a cushion to sit on for the interview.
  20. Just realised the link doesn't work Here's the quote from Twitter "It has been confirmed that Ayr United will go full time for season 2017-18 (and with plans for the future). Detailed interviews with manager Ian McCall and Commercial Manager Graeme Miller look at what this means for The Honest Men both on and off the park."
