Complete misrepresentation of the point I was making.

I repeat you cannot demand that an academy produces x number of first team ready players per season.

That fact certainly does not make having an academy pointless.

You seem unable to understand how an academy system works in the real world.

You can’t guarantee it of course, but you can’t dispute the stream of graduates from our academy getting to the first was a sign that our academy worked to an extent.

I dare say that all graduates with the exception of maybe a handful were way better to watch and done more than some of the total jobbers we’ve had in the last few years.

We did manage to miss out though where a fee might have been on the cards for maybe 4 or so who went to play higher level than us, but we lost them without recoup.

for me the academy worked well but started to go downhill, the further into the younger age groups we reached to get first team players. Usually caused by slashing budgets and woeful recruitment.

Most academy's would be delighted with one player a season establishing themselves before then selling them on.

They would wouldn’t they? Makes it all the more ludicrous that we canned ours. We created decent batches for years with 2/3 a season coming to first team (not saying we cashed in on them all of course).

for a club our size creating first team quality graduates is very useful even if they don’t get sold.

This was a good one, I actually like it as it is with the navy socks. Seems to be a controversial thing to say on here but I’m not fussed on having red on our strips, navy/white and as simple a design as possible for me please.

Not red on our strips but would say that i defo like red as an away colour, least favourite are these yellow versions and light blue. Reverse of Navy White, with main colour being white is suitable.

In my view the approach the current board are taking on the academy is the right one- i.e. not chucking cash we don’t have at it.

It needs to be understood imo that the academy is there to support the first team and not the other way round. We are a professional football team, not a youth club, and I think that distinction was lost at times with the previous academy.

Clearly closing the academy entirely was the wrong decision but I do think what was being spent was unsustainable. I don’t think we should be looking to just reinstate the previous structure any time soon as it needs to be done in a sustainable and affordable way.

How much were we spending on the academy previously?

Got to say guys but your manager and assistant have there heart in Kirkcaldy. You can talk about who is the biggest team ,for between us but you will never get over the mighty raith fucking you in the Scottish cup. If we managed to be paired.Again than I am sure that we would goose you by at least 3 goals and by the scum by at least 5 goals ,PS I hope Airdrie win the league

  6. Pretty honest feeling assessment and response from McGlynn IMO.

Its a cliche but hard work is the way to address that. I hope those players now realise they will get done if they turn up on a Saturday again thinking the games won before even warming up.

and yes some of the dead wood still needs thinned out.

If you can’t get on board and excited about a random 2 footed and tall attacking midfielder being signed up then there’s no hope for you tbh.

He’s either going to be absolutely ganting or a swashbuckling cult hero and I for one can’t wait to find out which.

    Part of the journey innit.

Just found it a bit surprising there only being one candidate after there being quite a bit of noise on here,  a few posters have been quite critical of the FSS for no particular or obvious reason other than the directors being members of both the FSS and the patrons group and have tried to paint this as a negative where in fact I actually see it as a positive. If there genuinely was a like minded feeling amongst our fan base I presumed somebody would have stuck they're head above the parapet.  Maybe I’m just reading to much into a few pedantic posters on here, could well be the case most don’t agree with that sentiment.

Maybe those complaining simply aren’t members?
