Exceptionally frustrating. Nothing went our way at all today. O’Halloran was a bawhair away on great balls from Wighton 3 times that I can think that we would be expecting goals from.

Smash and grab from Rovers that.

Well done the little team, good to see they bought a wee support for their wee club . Byrne  is a total melt who I hope rots in hell.

  2. Glad to see we "did our talking on the pitch"

Dunfermline fans have mentioned a game against Falkirk where McPake let them have the ball all game as he knew they would do nothing with it, and Murray essentially did the same thing today.  Looked like a team very much dependent on defensive solidity, who weren't very solid in defence today.

Rovers weren't great at all today, we are yet to get out of 2nd gear this season really in the league, but defended superbly.  Ground out win, which we didn't see enough of last season.

  3. There's a real buzz around the Rovers, for the first time in a while, and that is in part down to a great job with regards to social media and the work the club are doing.

These videos with former players are a wee bit too much for my liking though.  If I was Mcpake I'd have them on in the dressing room as the team talk.

That said, I do quite enjoy Dunfermline fans playing the fixture down as just another league game, before proceeding to sing songs with the lyrics "we fucking hate you".

Do you actually score from many? Despite possessing a decent cross he often played it so deep that defences found it too easy to deal with.

It was beyond infuriating to see him get the ball, with a f**k load of space to drive in to, but instead playing a cross that would inevitably be mopped up by the opposition defence. His tendency for backing off was pretty wild aswell.

We haven't scored from many at all, but we've almost exclusively played with zero centre forwards with nobody over 3ft tall in the box during last season, and he's missed most of this season.

  5. Intriguing game this one.  I don't know a huge amount about this Dunfermline side, but they are on some unbeaten league run, and certainly appears as though they are a tough nut to crack.  They looked decent in the league cup game, and ran Dundee Utd extremely close the other week.

Murray now has selection issues though.  You would imagine that at the very least, one of Easton, Vaughan, Mullin or Hamilton will not start the game (he surely has to play Hamilton up top).  We look much, much better in the midfield with Brown and Byrne in there - would be a big call to change that.  Thats before adding in Ethan Ross who will feel hard done by not to start given how he has played in the past coupel weeks.

There is actual depth and options in the squad, for what feels like the first time in a million years.  Murray has been very well backed, but this is the type of game where we need to see a progression from seasons gone by.  McGlynn had a mixed time of it vs Dunfermline, but a really fucking terrible one at EEP.

Don't know what to expect though.  We concede too many set pieces, and aren't great at defending them - and if we don't start Hamilton then for all the options we have, we will be going into the game without a recognised centre forward - something we saw yesterday and for the majority of last season - which isn't ideal in games like this.  I've seen a few fans of other clubs saying that we will be up there with Utd et al for the title, but I don't see that yet.  Still think theres a wee bit too much hanging on Hamilton being in form, as well as consistently fit and available.

I'd be happy enough with a decent score draw.

Still the line-up to come, but is today going to be the first time in at least a year that we field an eleven where everyone is playing in a position and role that they'd consider natural?

We've had Sam Stanton out of position for each game so far this year, we went through all of last year without a proper number 9, not to mention all of the various shoehorning we've done in the back line.

Whether it's a 4-2-3-1 or Murray continues with his baws oot 4-1-3-2, everyone should be comfortable with what they're being asked. Obviously it'll still be an incredibly tough game, but it feels like we're in a good place for it.

Back to playing without a number 9.

From the outside, it looked more like a Kids Club than a singing section on Saturday.

I really don't want to be negative, but I can't help but think it's a rare miss from the new regime.

The club tried to do a hell of a lot last week.  Season tickets weren't finalised, Hibs tickets on sale etc - not to mention trying to flog new season tickets.

Could well be they've just tried to do too much in a short space of time.

I see we’ve sold over 1000 for this already, didn’t expect that. Would like to see us go 4-2-3-1:

    Dabrowski

    Millen Watson Murray Dick

    Brown Byrne

    Mullin Stanton Smith

    Hamilton

Heard from someone yesterday that it was at 1500.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when loads on here were wanting Ethan Ross punted out on loan to Cove Rangers?

Don't think that was the craziest shout ever.  We had absolutely nothing from Ross last season, and he was nowhere to be seen throughout all of pre season and the league cup.  Also keeping in mind the considerable expense the club went to to sign him, as well as the plethora of options we have in that department.

I'm obviously delighted at how he's started the season, but it wasn't expected in any way really.

From reading that match thread it seems like there was some Jai Quitongo/Raith beef today. I know there was the thing where Ian Murray called him a diver last season too but I thought you’d enjoy this excerpt from the Rico Quitongo tribunal last season:

“On 29 December 2021, during an Airdrie and Queen’s Park game, there was a verbal altercation between Mr Murray and the claimant’s brother. Airdrie won the game but the game had been ill tempered. Mr Murray shouted into the Queen’s Park dressing room, as he walked past it, “Go tweet that you little fanny”. This was aimed at the claimant’s bother.”

    Lifetime contract for Murray please.

  11. Strange game.  We started really well, but after going 2-0 up we struggled.  Really dissapointed in the manner we conceded the goals, as well as how we dealt with large parts of the 2nd half.

That said, great attitude to grind another result out.  I don't think we've played at all well on the whole, and taken 4 points.

Morton are a really "robust" side.  Nothing wrong with that at all, but they are.  Some absolute shit houses in that side.  Again, nothing wrong with that.  Quitongo injuring himself trying to halve Watson was fucking superb though.  Rovers gave as good as they got though,  surprised both sides ended up with 11 men.
