I do think were guilty of under valuing our younger players. Having seen Mitchell & Arnott, they’ve both during albeit opportunities to impressed at championship/league 1 level. Whilst I’m keen to see both get the game time they need, I’d like to see them at higher levels than what both are at. I thought this last season and to see them both still in league 2 and lowland league respectively isn’t closing the gap when it comes to the competition they’re to be up against if they play for us in the future.

I’m well aware that my point requires other clubs to want the lads but i’d be surprised if there weren’t teams like Annan, Stirling & Montrose interested.

I can't really see these guys slotting straight into the starting 11 of those teams, and that's what we need.

  2. I actually don't think we've played that well this season, certainly I'm pleasantly surprised to be on 13 out of 15 points. If you had told me that with 8 mins to go at Firhill, I'd have assumed you were on glue.

Id probably be looking to get at least one of Easton or Mullin back in for this, and to be honest it would be Vaughan or Smith who drop out.

We haven't been getting anywhere near enough from Hamilton in front of goal, but he's a genuine number 9 and gives us a lot.  The break for Gullans goal came from Hamilton winning a header in the box, a fucking novelty in recent times.

Don't know much about Airdrie but they've started the season well.  Point here would be absolutely fine.

Yeah, thats a surprisingly low level for him to drop to. The lad was rightly called out by McGlynn as his player of the year as he looked excellent when he first came in, but he's not kicked on at all and probably won't be here next year.

Don't think it's that surprising,  he didn't stand out in the Highland League last season.

The most encouraging thing for me yesterday, apart from the giddy sensation of beating ICT obviously, was the performance of Hamilton. I think he's looking sharper each week and is becoming a real handful for the opposition defence. I noticed Murray said that yesterday was his best performance for us and I would agree with that.

Assuming everyone is fit, Mullin for Vaughan would be my only change for next week but Murray will know Airdrie a lot better than us and you wouldn't be surprised if he tinkers a bit more than that.

I'm a bit dissapointed with how Hamilton has been in front of goal, but we are really seeing the benefit of having an actual centre forward.

On holiday for this one, do Airdrie offer a streaming service?

  5. Thought we were absolute keech first half, Inverness should have easily been in front.

Once again, changes won us the game.  Starting Vaughan was completely understandable, he won the game for us against Queens Park, but he was shoe-horned into that side, to the detriment of the team.

Some hit from Gullan, fair play. Not his biggest fan by any means, but he got us the win today.

1, He played for the Pars.

2, I think He recited a move to us at one point.

3, He is an utter bell end.

On to the game it's self.

The red card thing has been done to death with most of us agreeing it was a soft award, thing is though Tizzard is first and foremost an absolute clown for giving the ref a decision to make, if as some are saying Fox would have caught him (and for the record I doubt it) then Tizzard is even more stupid than we are giving him credit for.

The 1st 10 mins after the red card Queens were all at sea and we really should have cleaned up, but we didn't and Queens got organised, so much so it was difficult to say who had 10 and who had 11 men on the park, and ladies and gentlemen that what boiled my piss. Queens went compact and did a great job and we let them. Did we stretch them and take advantage of of the extra man? Did we hookey!

Rovers never seem to do too brilliantly against 10 men.

To be fair, both goals came from stretching the play and using the extra man.

  7. Really interesting selection dilemma for Murray now.  I don't think Smith, Mullin or Hamilton deserve to be dropped - but dropping Vaughan was a big call, and he's now went on to score 2 goals to win us the match yesterday.

If everyone is playing well, its a great headache to have, but a headache nonetheless.  Factor in Easton, Ross and soon Connolly also and its a bit nuts

All of the above said, I'm still concerned about the goalkeeper.  I get that he needs some time to develop etc, but the mistake yesterday wasn't really that unexpected - and its one area of the pitch where we can't really allow too much "bedding in" time.   Booing at the goal and sarcastic cheering after he caught the ball can get in the bin though - really poor.  He obviously knew he'd had a howler and didn't need reminding.

Also really disappointing to concede that 2nd goal in the manner we did, considering how good the defence was last week.  Guys like Watson and Murray need to be booting that ball to f**k.

Great attitude and spirit to get back into the game though.  I looked at the full match replay on RaithTV and looked at the minute or so before the winner, and the build up play was incredibly patient.  So tempting to just lump it forward, but fair play, made the extra man count and worked the opening.

Having now watched it back, that red card was utterly ridiculous. I thought so at the time too but you never know until you've had a closer look at it.

Really hope the players are able to recognise that yesterday was an excellent battling performance despite the referee and a couple of mental managerial decisions, and build on that; we really should've at least come away with a point.

I didn't think Queens Park battled or played that well at all yesterday to be honest.  Rovers should have been out of sight, and handed 2 goals on a plate really.  Some grim finishing and good goalkeeping kept the score down.

That said, having gone 2-1 up the game management on show was horrific.
