  1. A livi fan once told me it was always the second in command who was the brains of the operation- would make sense given the current position of each party.
  2. £200k is still a decent return for someone who came good in league 2 last year and had a handful of starts for the first team- one of which was an absolutely shite display in a home pumping against East Fife. We realistically can’t justify offering any more of those types of contracts to anyone in this league, let alone an unproven 18 year old. No real ill will towards the guy- I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same if I was an 18 year old linked with an EPL club- but I won’t lose any sleep over it and the club have done what they can, let’s move on.
  3. 3 points, a clean sheet and a goal each for the strikers, with Clark back amongst the goals. Also a good weekend for us in terms of other results, and we’re three points clear. Let’s take that, use it as a platform and move on to another hugely important two games this week.
  4. That’s it on the bbc that he has agreed a deal until 2022 along with McCulloch and Forrest. It seems an odd time to offer such a long extension, but I think the hierarchy might have been worried he would be pinched part way through the season if we continued to do well, causing disruption to the squad. I’m a fan of Neilson and think the good has outweighed the bad in terms of his tenure so far. I do however echo people’s concerns about his cautious approach against some teams, and also think he has to deliver this season, he has no excuses. I’m hoping some more security encourages him to be less inhibited in games and give him the incentive to go all out attack from the get go- we have the personnel to do this.
  5. I was genuinely thinking this could be a possibility the other day if Sir Craig got the sack. Really not sure how I would feel if he came back.
  6. He’s done a better job than anyone since Houston (so far) If he continues in a similar vein then I hope he is.
  7. Hmmm, depends if we qualify for Champions League next season I reckon.
  8. We’re in a great position to be honest, if Celtic, Rangers or anyone else comes in in January, he’s got more than 2 years left on his contract. If we got silly money for him and we loaned him back for the rest of the season (Celtic and Rangers don’t really have a dearth of strikers) I would be ok with that. He’s too good to stay with us for any prolonged period of time and he seems like a genuinely lovely, humble young guy. If he gets a dream move I’d be pleased for him (as long as he got us up- otherwise he’s a dick and I never liked him anyway)
  9. Seen all the goals barring the second on Twitter- oh my god that Morton defence.
  10. So how did they actually set up? Was it 4 at the Back with smith on the left and Watson on the right, with 5 supporting Shankland, or something else?
  11. Wow, sounds like you should just liquidate the club now. Not sure why anyone would make the last point you did though, completely plausible that any premiership or championship team could win the Scottish cup at some point in the future. Except Dundee.
  12. I totally get that, and I agree. But he is a damn sight better than anything we have had for years, and there seems to be a momentum, togetherness and level of general quality far superior to anything we have had since we’ve been down here. I just don’t think the people prepared to call for his head or branding him a crap manager are being sensible or seeing the bigger picture.
  13. We were very good against Dunfermline and could quite easily have won that game by 3 or 4. We were also great in the second half against thistle. As far as I’m concerned scoring 2 goals in the last 2 minutes to win a game where you’ve played crap is exactly what champions look like. We’re not going to play well every game or half of football, look at Man City against Norwich last week. I have reservations about Neilson, and his favoured system and tendencies to play players out of position does piss me off, but I think the levels of criticism are way over the top. We’ve won 8 of the last 10 league games, but beyond that there seems to have been real progress in terms of the togetherness and attitude of not just the first team but the wider squad. We were a total shambles when he took over, and the whole club was in total disarray. Look at the way players like McMullan and Robson have come on, and young players like Banks and Appere. Fitness is better, more goals are being scored and fewer conceded, and were able to fight back from losing positions, he’s been in charge less than a year! I’m totally aware he’s not perfect- but none of our managers ever have been, and at our level we aint going to get one who is. The speed at which negativity re-appears is beginning to get tiresome.
  14. Cool, fair enough. Also, who provided the assist for the 2nd goal? Twitter said it was Smith, but it also said he came off for Mcmullan
  15. I wasn’t at the game so pardon the ignorance, which substitution are you referring to?
  16. Read the civil court papers that are available online before you open your mouth on this topic again. Or in fact, just don’t open your mouth on this topic again.
  17. This. I’m liking Harkes and Stanton more and more these days, but I think they have more potential be over-run in midfield when we’re up against it. McCall’s teams are always very streetwise, so I’d like Butcher in there to solidify things for us in the middle. I’d have Stanton in beside him, with Harkes as a good option to turn to.
  18. Played a lot in Exeter teams which were in league 2 playoffs for two years in a row, and viewed good enough to play in league 1 this season (although admittedly, so was Calum Booth). I’ll take him as centre half cover over Watson on the face of things.
  19. Not complaining, but can someone who’s at the game please explain who’s playing where
  20. I think Sow will start on Saturday. If he doesn’t perform I think neilson will be seriously thinking about offloading him in Jan.
  21. Laughing at a one - nil deficit with nine men after last nights showing. Fair pay
