I feel we need to drop Scott Allan , can't tackle can't head a ball and rarely manages a pass. Almost as good as Corfe.
Scott Allan was very good today. He makes things happen in attack. I don’t understand what Lichties fans want of him.5 -
I’ve seen it 3 times now and I still don’t understand the free kick and TOB’s yellow card. That was a great clean tackle. And what was that fiasco in the Arbroath box when the linesman gave offside, then everyone stopped, then Cove played on and Gaston made the save. And the ref then seemed to give the offside? Weird. The ref was very poor - and I seldom criticise refs.

It seems Dick now sees us as a technical passing team playing beautiful football through the midfield, so Hoti and Allen in behind Shanks and… Or f*** knows.

Dick thinking he is being undermined by the support, sent him out to prove wrong, does the opposite, so punished by being benched again. Dick management 101.
Just as long as we don't make up a song for Shanks itll be ok.....
Same number of syllables as “Bobby Linn”.

Will TOB, Bitsindou or Stewart be available? I guess we’ll find out around 2:15pm on Saturday.

What a cool finish by Shanks. The boy will go far.

The only worry I had yesterday was Dylan Easton hopping on top of Vaughan after the third. I can’t have been the only one screaming to get off [emoji23]
I’m sure most fans of other Championship teams are really pleased to see Vaughan back playing. The lad deserves a break. I just hope he’s rubbish against us.9 -
Any highlights up yet?

I think that’s the best starting lineup we can put out - apart from maybe Hancock for Gold at left back. What’s Hancock done?

IF DC starts Corfe and no proper striker (Shanks/Isiaka as Hilson is injured) i have my tissues ready as i will start greeting......
Corfe has never started for Arbroath.1 -
Watching the Cove v QP game on tv tonight and we’re so far off this standard it’s scary. Cove winning 1-0 at HT but both teams creating loads of chances, playing fast attacking football. There’s no way Cove are going to be relegated, so the way things are looking it’s between us and Accies for automatic relegation, unless another team gets drawn into it or we hit some form.
2-0 Cove. We’re in big trouble.2 -
I’ll be honest I completely forgot about him and tait for some reason! Allan has been really disappointing, you can see the quality but he seems to take an age on the ball and gets caught out a lot. Hard to come into a poor team especially with no striker but i would just stick with him and hopefully he comes good.
Gaston
Oakley little hammy gold
Tait jacobs allan linn
Mckenna
Shanks
Gold at left back isn’t ideal but would have him over hancock.
That’s more like it, but I’d still have Hancock at left back.1 -
Would these usually be starters?
Yes0 -
Did I miss the latest player fitness update
How is TOB , Stewart and Hilson ?
… and Bitsindou? I must have missed it too. (What’s the point of doing it once and then stopping?)0 -
Nah leave Nicky alone boys just getting settled in nicely at Kelty [emoji106]
He won’t be back. It’s too far for him to travel. Lol. We don’t need him now we’ve got Allan and Tait. I’ve just about forgiven him for his poor behaviour. I hope he does well for you.2 -
I can't believe how quickly things have swung in such a short space of time..... not in our league position but in terms of me standing up for Dick and everyone else being absolutely furious with him While I understand the majority of comments, I do think some stuff does slightly show the fickleness of football fans...
Media comments/ post match interviews - Dick has exaggerated, dismissed and ignored things in his interviews for the whole time he's been our manager - it used to really piss me off 3/4 years ago but no-one cared as we were winning.... now we're struggling they seem to be infuriating everyone....... don't watch them would be my advice, it did me a world of good [emoji6]
Substitutions - I think Dick's subs and tactical changes in games have always been questionable from day one and again it used to really frustrate me but I almost feel numbed to it now If we haven't taken off our only attacking threat with 20 minutes to go then I'm delighted. In his last 50 league games for Arbroath, Bobby Linn has only played 90 minutes twice - end of season game against Morton last season when everything was done and we had a two week break before the play offs, and today. For whatever reason, Dick decided at some point a couple of years ago that Bobby Linn can't play for 90 minutes, and that's that. So, regardless of game situation, fitness situation, score, players available etc, he is either sub or is subbed. Today being different, I guess he's accepted at this stage that we just need our only real goal threat on the pitch for 90 minutes, which he would be entirely right on, but this was very obvious several months ago.
Signings wise - I'm at a total crossroads on this.... I really do sympathise with Dick (to an extent!) on this front. The amount of bad luck he's had when it comes to signings not working out/ being let down etc. in the last six months has been outrageous. He's had about 10 shit pre seasons in one when it comes to things not coming off from everything I've heard, and none of it has really been his fault. However, quite obviously, what we have signed isn't up to the level required, and ultimately he's the one who decides who signs on the dotted line. I actually think expanding our market and looking down South and in other places is an excellent idea and a really progressive way of doing things, but our execution has been rather shite.... I'm hopeful what we've put in place recruitment wise will help things in the coming windows....
At this stage, sacking Dick would be very bold in my opinion! The squad we have, regardless of how we got here, is what we have until January. While obviously the subs/ use of players has been poor, this isn't particuarly new, and I still feel he's our best bet unless we take a complete nosedive, which I honestly think is very unlikely. He should also have plenty 'in the bank' as it were considering everything he's done during his time at the club.
In terms of on the park - I hear/ see Scott Allan getting a lot of stick..... I think he's getting progressively better, and will continue to do so as he gets fitter. Everything good going forward comes through him and/ or Bobby Linn, and longer term (January + beyond, with Allan being on a two year deal) when he is given more to work with I think he'll be excellent. Up until a few weeks ago I was rather pissed off with him - unfit, off the pace and then a really stupid sending off to keep him out and not getting matches for another few weeks. I remember back in Dick's first year he signed someone for 'big money' (at the time!) who hadn't had any proper pre season, was unfit and lacking match sharpness and was, frankly, pish, for his first half a dozen games.... I thought he should be out the team, Dick kept playing him and once fully fit and sharp he was the best player in the division for the last two thirds of the season....
Scott Allan looked class today. He’s getting much better every week. If only he had a striker to pass to…3 -
All agreed except Jacobs was very good today and has been good for a few weeks. I thinks he’s a good addition to the squad. At least as good as Craigen who I also rated.

That was a terrible miss from Goldie on the rebound of Bobby’s shot off the post. One of the “my granny would score that” ones.

Pretty sure the stats will back me up but no way should have we lost today, if only could turn stats into points, thought we controlled the game from start to finish, apart from Ayr possession for 15 mins mid first half we controlled the game, had numerous chances but failed to score (lack of striker), still think we’re a good team but by fuk threw the Gayfield jewels at a striker.
We are going to “control the game” when we play 6 good/decent midfielders but we’re very unlikely to score so we got what we deserved.0 -
Losing Bitsindou for probably several weeks is a big blow. We have lots of passing and attacking midfielders now but no obvious defensive mid, and if we score very few goals we need clean sheets.

Thought we played well enough, certainly didn’t look like top v bottom, but (stating the obvious) it’s impossible to win games if you don’t score.
3 strikers on the bench yet we start, and astonishingly finish with an off form midfielder and a winger up front. Also how can Dick, or anyone else, think that Corfe is a better option when chasing an equaliser??? Probably the worst sub he’s ever made and that’s saying something. Isiaka looked ok when he came on last week, Hilson has been decent this season and Shanks has a bit of physicality about him.
Agree but I’m not convinced you can say McKenna is off form - he’s being asked to play line striker which is just crazy.1 -
Cant blame the players for that. Some good performances in fact. It’s all down to the management’s pathetic transfer business up front and their ridiculous selection of a team with no striker and tactics of lobbing it up for poor Mikey McKenna.

I’d rather keep Bitsindou in front of the back 4, have Hammy at cb and Hancock at LB. What do I know, though.

Barry Sellars, Brown Ferguson and Craig Ireland given roles at the club in charge of player recruitment. Love that and think it’s a great move, should help Dick and Pink out a lot
Good to see weaknesses being recognised and remedied.1
