  1. Lee has a BA in Sports Media and Broadcasting, he does interview well.
  2. SW shouldn't have announced anything before we did, that's poor from them.
  3. Thanks, I used a credit card, so perhaps that's the difference in timing.
  4. Once a preferred candidate is made an offer contracts are negotiated, which can be a back and forth exercise (often a manager will have a lawyer review the contract on their behalf). An experienced or savvy manager will want to protect themselves against termination and also the terms for release if another club wants to hire them during the term of the contract. An out of work or less experienced candidate may take a lower offer and sign the contract more quickly.
  5. Our defence has been exposed like no other in the Championship this year. Over the years I believe our success or failure has come from our winning or losing 50/50 balls in the midfield then keeping possession (no sh*t Sherlock). Do that and your defence is mopping up with confidence and your front line gets more chances. Look at Andy Murdoch today, he was a real ball winner and a more successful distributing midfielder than ever. Joe Chalmers frequently took the ball and kept us on the front foot today. A good defence needs a good midfield in front of it. Today we had that. A few more performances like today and the defence will grow in confidence, win much more of the ball and play better from the back rather than hoofball. We're far from the finished article but the right tactics will get a tune out of this squad, hopefully with a few additions in the window.
  6. Do young players get signed by Man Utd if they don't have a high level of technical ability? Managers can make or break a player, it's amazing how well confident players can play. I'm keen to see what the next manager can do with the core of this squad with a few additions. Played in the right way they get results
  7. McGinty needs to be able to 100% commit to winning headers knowing that he has cover. Players are human beings and many will react to criticism by being scared to commit. I actually think a central defensive two or three from Muirhead, Fjortoft, McGinty or Baird should be dominant in the Championship but there is a fear because we have sat back and their clearances have gone to the opposition and come straight back to us. In every game we have played with a high line, the defence has been better to my recollection. Hopkin assembled a squad, he didn't build a team. Duffy seemed to see the key when he was caretaker but resorted to type when given the job. I can't be the only person who has had inspirational managers who brought you on after having worked for less able mangers that stifled and suppressed your abilities (33 years next year!). Why should football players be any different?
  8. Sorry, I totally disagree, Afolabi is a player who can't fit into the Jim Duffy set-up. When we're on the front foot, I think he can and has shone. Just think where your confidence would be if you couldn't get a game every week under the Duffy regime. Football players are humans like he rest of us and confidence probably trumps ability in the Championship for most players who play in it. I think Afolabi is at a crossroads, there is a player in there but can he get the confidence to do it consistently?
  9. I'm going to buck the trend and say I didn't think you where actually all that today. I genuinely think we were just terrible and after gifting you the first goal didn't ever get going. You pressed decent enough, but we would normally have played around that pretty easily. Don't get me wrong, you 100% deserved the win and I'm taking nothing away from you today. Compared to Duffy's "permanent" contract days, we played completely differently today. We played higher up the pitch, closed you down and had options to pass to further up the pitch. Jim Duffy had us sitting back like we were at Little Bighorn and frankly has an old fashioned junior football philosophy that isn't fit for the Championship. Jim isn't a bad person, but football has moved on form his way of thinking. I think we were "all that", 5-0/ 5-1 would not have been an unfair reflection of genuine chances today.
  10. I agree, keep the ball not lose it. Hoofball and trying to beat too many opposition players seem to result in the same thing.
  11. Maxwell is a promising young player but, at times, still seems to think he's playing at pro-youth level and tries to hold on to the ball for too long and loses possession. Today, he got much more right and was outstanding. When he works out when to make earlier passes, what a player he could become.
  12. I have read the "accusation" of racism. It is absolute nonsense, I've been severely physically threatened for standing up to racists on several occasions here, called it out in a southern state in America, campaigned against apartheid and passionately stood against racism and bigotry all my teenage and adult life. Claire gave her opinion on a player that she didn't think chased and closed down enough, that had zero to do with the colour of his skin. Actually, in my opinion, it has everything to do with the idiotic tactics deployed by Duffy and Hopkin. One isolated striker with half a brain isn't going to waste energy against three or four defenders. Tomi is clearly an intelligent forward and can see when it's worth closing down defenders, and that's when you're playing a high line. Credit to Tomi. I've know Calum for years and I've met Claire on several occasions. To accuse them of racism is absolutely ludicrous and frankly demeans the fight against genuine racism. Let's put this to bed now. To the game, Tomi had his best game for us, Maxwell was outstanding, Chalmers and Murdoch actually gave us a midfield. In fact. every player gave their all, there were no failures which proves what many of us believe, we have a limited squad hampered by very, very poor managers
  13. That 45 minutes shows what a disastrously poor manager Duffy is. He didn't know his players or how to set them up. We've nearly all been saying it, play a high line and attack and the team can perform. It's easier to defend when you have players you can clear to. Duffy and Hopkin are joint first in WOAT by a huge margin given the resources they had compared to part-time predecessors.
  14. Everyone lies, including every poster on here. The difference is the degree and magnitude. On the score Johnson needs to be compared on a logarithmic scale.

  16. The world runs in economic cycles and small European countries actually handle that rather well. Even the disastrous demise in Iceland and the less severe situation in Ireland, saw them able to respond very quickly grow into recovery. The British economy is dominated by London and the Southeast of England (it has been since just after WW1 and was heavily subsidised by the "UK Continental Shelf" from the 1970's). That deprives Scotland of the agility required to realise its potential. We can ask our industrial sectors how to help drive our economy forward in a socially responsible manner as new technologies develop, or we can ask them to raise their hands if they've been to Peppa Pig World.
  17. Kyle Rittenhouse found not guilty of all charges! I think the crackpot right in America really has taken over. You wonder how a zoomer like Trump could win a presidential election, then you see this verdict and you realise why. What a dreadful decision. I feel so sorry for the majority in America who have to put up with a double outrage like this. That boy should have been locked up for decades. The insanity of Trump is dragging America into a very, very dark place.
  18. There is no real benefit in him hiding this additional income, it's taxed at source and both activities are in full public glare. He should just have stuck to being able to identify dairy cows from behind (his true talent) and running the line. Deploying the "see me, what am I like?" defence is comical. He is the leader of the largest unionist party, keep him there, it will get us to independence more quickly. He isn't just a unionist, he's a buffunionist.
  19. He's clearly out of his depth in many ways but the SNP is overplaying the sleaze angle. The Tories appear to have plenty of "suspects" but Douglas Ross isn't in that camp, he's just too wee, too poor and too stupid to run his own affairs.
