  1. He looked like he was wading through treacle every time he had to run, but still ended up one of our top scorers despite playing only a third of the season. Never understood why he gets so much ire than just about anyone else bar Harkins from that squad.
  2. Farid el Alagui gets a very harsh time from our support considering some of the shite he had as team mates who contributed even less than he did.
  3. You’re the one who brought up history mate, not me.
  4. Given the competition Phillips is probably one of our more in-form attackers with 4 goals in 9 games. He’ll definitely be in the squad. Fletcher has started the season well although apparently he can’t be arsed with Scotland.
  5. Ayr have spent a fair chunk of their history near the top of this league or in the one above it. Not every club’s history is confined to the last 25 years.
  6. Poor stuff but not at all surprising - fully expecting it to be same group of roasters who combusted with rage every time Crawford and Harvie touched the ball last season.
  7. Getting very good reviews tonight. Encouraging even if it was against a League 2 team.
  8. I was okay about it mostly until I heard him on Sportsound last night - the way he was talking definitely gave the impression that it was something he had been waiting for for a wee while. Also pretty much said the only reason he didn’t go for it last year was because he didn’t want to replace Archibald - if it wasn’t for that he’d most likely have went at a similar time of the season. I’ll always be grateful for the way he’s turned us around, and there is some logic in his decision (bigger budget), but it does grate a bit if he’s always been going on about his loyalty to Cameron while secretly crossing his fingers for the Thistle job.
  9. The club have only just tonight opened the job to applications. Anyone getting "linked" at this stage will only be because they've either a) got some of their media chums to talk them up or b) Dave from Prestwick has chucked £20 quid on them at McBookie.
  10. A Q&A isn't a bad idea especially with so many people moaning for years that there was no communication from club to fans. It could do with being a better format though with questions submitted and only the sensible/legible ones being put forward.
  11. Out of all the names mentioned I’d take Houston. His record is largely good and we won’t get anyone who’s been flawless throughout their career - McCall certainly wasn’t either.
  12. I’d imagine Doolan is one of our higher earners as well - wouldn’t be the worst outcome.
  13. Gutted. The “I’ll be here as long as the club wants me” comments do stick a bit, but he won’t be getting any abuse from me. He’s turned the club around on and off the pitch, gave us some great moments, a title win and our highest league finish in nearly two decades. After the Roberts years it’s been a breath of fresh air. I really can’t hold anything against him after the last 2 and a bit years. I think he’s taking a big risk but that’s up to him. For us - whoever we appoint I think it’s an even bigger decision than normal. It’s not just about on the pitch - with the nature of our far-away chairman we need someone who is capable of driving the professionalism of the club as a whole in the same way McCall has. Not an easy decision for the board to make.
  14. He’s done alright with them but nothing spectacular to say he could jump up 2 leagues. People just touting him because he used to play for us.
  15. Chelsea should consider learning how to defend set pieces.
  16. Has the pitch been extended at the Olympic stadium? Fans look a lot closer to the pitch than I remember.
  17. As someone who only watches rugby a handful of times - scrums always stand out as being absolutely farcical. Any time it collapses the team in possession gets the penalty regardless of who’s at fault. Oh and so much for a straight put it, Irish boy there just chucking it in at about a 45 degree angle.
  18. Some brass neck on that simpleton banging on about bad winners after getting his arse handed to him last weekend.
  19. Isn’t he on record as saying (several times) that he’s here for as long as Lachlan wants him?
  20. I can’t be the only person who thinks the Haka is ridiculous.
  21. We played 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 the last 2 games and got regularly ripped apart - which I think was in part due to 2 either side of McTominay getting dragged all over the place. Add to that when they got pushed back it completely dismantled any link between midfield and attack. I think we look far better when we play a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-4-1-1. It restricts the sitting 2 far more in terms of positioning which to be honest I think we need to keep our shape. Then it gives you someone ahead of them who's a bit closer to the striker which should (in theory anyway) stop him from getting isolated up front.
  22. I hadn’t noticed the seethe Harvie stirred up from the Arab fans at his goal. You love to see it.
