  1. Could just be me being crabbit but a twitter search with a winners name and DAFC Lifeline will show how many times they've been announced as a winner (if they bothered to announce it on twitter as they don't always). A name that won it on 18 September looked familiar so I checked, they've won it 3 times previously, twice in the space of as many months and would probably be considered a well kent face at East End, at least to some. Not saying they've been cherry picked for one minute, just that I noticed it. I don't really mind, my lifeline sub is to help the Pars not win prizes.
  2. It'll be interesting to see the home numbers at the Killie game as I'd imagine the fall out from yesterday will rumble on to then. There'll always be a core of home fans that wouldn't miss a game but a loss to Killie and Thistle with no action and you might be right. It's an absolute stick on that we'll beat Killie now after all that's happened and that they're favorites to win the league. A win that will undoubtedly buy Grant another 10 games.
  3. The lifeline is a monthly direct debit, similar to FOH at Hearts. Was set up in our admin period and has contributed a lot of money since. I think there was well over 1000 contributing at least £20pm originally but the numbers fell. Usually twice a year you get an article on the official site asking members to rejoin etc. You do get added into a prize draw for every home game where 5 members win £200 and one wins a boardroom/hospitality pass for the next home game but if I'm being honest it's a lot of crap. Same names appear in the winning list every so often.
  4. Aye I noticed that, wasn't surprised. Fortunately it was only 3/4 people and they're all long term posters and long term roasters.
  5. I don't understand why we should wait so far into this week, it should have been first thing Monday morning. His post match comments tell that he knows he could be sacked, the fans know it yet here we are approaching 2pm on the Tuesday afternoon and there's been nothing. If he isn't away by COB this evening then it's safe to say he'll be in charge for the Kilmarnock game. We have 2 weeks between games to sack, advertise, interview and hire. It would be the most Dunfermline Athletic thing if we were to sack him the Thursday before the Killie game and have Shields in charge for another 2 weeks before making an appointment.
  6. Potential to be the lowest home crowd in a long long time if Peter Grant is still in charge.
  7. Totally agree. I didn't like Stevie as a manager but his eye for a player and recruitment was decent.
  8. All I can think is that Meggle and Co couldn’t get over for today and want to be here in person to make any decision.
  9. Thanks, hasn’t managed to read Alan’s article until now, thought there may have been more journalists mentioning it on twitter etc.
  10. What journos have said this and where, can’t see anything on twitter.
  11. I’m in a similar mind CC. I feel a bit childish doing it knowing the CC Lifeline is for the good of the club but I feel it’s these types of actions that may go noticed.
  12. Completely agree. Davie Hay and Stephen Kenny at least won games.
  13. We really have to win today. I’m not Peter Grants biggest fan, I didn’t want him as a manager originally, I wanted shot of him after Arbroath scudded us 0-3 at home but I have to say I genuinely don’t care who the manager is as long as we’re competitive. Anything less than 3 points and it’s curtains for Grant, even a draw isn’t good enough. Palmerston hasn’t been a overly happy hunting ground for us IIRC. It would be the most Dunfermline thing for us to draw/lose today, not sack Grant and then beat Killie in the first game back.
  14. Was quite happy when we signed him as someone had put together a nice package of him scoring for Celtic reserves, looked like a player who would get on the ball and have a bit of dig from the middle of the park, scoring a few goals in the process. Was disappointing apart from a few games, like the Hearts game mentioned above. For him to have been at Celtic there's obviously a player in there but we didn't see the best of him. He also didn't feature much post Christmas and didn't get a decent run in the team so I wouldn't completely rule him out and say he's no good. I'd say he'd be better in league 1.
  15. Raith completely dominated us in the first half, we were every bit lethargic and clueless as we have been all season. On another night Raith could have been 2 or 3 up. Second half we were better but I wouldn't say we controlled the second half. It was very even and apart from the Wighton offside goal and O'Hara's goal, Jamie MacDonald had very little to do. Whereas OFW pulled off that worldy save and was certainly busier. A draw probably a fair result but they mean nothing for me until we pick up a win. I don't care who it comes against as all teams this season have proved to be difficult for us, so until we put one of them away I won't be happy with the singular point.
  16. Can't argue with much of that. I did feel Connolly was good and is better than Watson. Like you I don't really understand the signing as we've got a lot of central defenders but IMO he will improve us over time. With regards to Kennedy I've been very disappointed, he has flashes of brilliance but no end product. He also didn't get the assist for the goal, he passed it down the line to Edwards who's cross for O'Hara was great.
  17. Meanwhile Killie have just strengthened at the other end of the pitch by bringing in Callum Hendry on loan from St.Johnstone. That's a decent signing.
  18. I count 8 genuine central defenders for us, 4 of which were signed by Peter Grant. Mark Connolly, Paul Watson, Lewis Martin, Ross Graham, Rhys Breen, Vytas Gaspuitis, Leon Jones and Paul Watson all guys who can play centre half. Aaron Comrie has also been in there this season but he's a full back. Lewis Martin is obviously a long term injury and in Grants interview today he confirmed Lewis McCann and Iain Wilson are on there way back but no mention for Martin. He didn't play a single minute last season either so unlikely we'll see him anytime soon but that still leaves us with 7 CB's, Rhys Breen also hasn't kicked a ball for us yet and Leon Jones has only played 70 mins. Hope we just stick them all on and go for 0-0's for the rest of the season.

  20. I've watched Connolly a few times for Dundee Utd. He's maybe not Premiership level but I'm sure he'll be okay for us. More just the timing that is odd, we've kept 2 clean sheets with the back 4. I can only assume that with injuries we'll be going back to the 5 defenders tonight and Connolly will go into the central 3 with Watson and big Vytas. Despite singing Ross Graham's praises in the papers he maybe isn't all that confident slotting him back in for this game. If Edwards is the unnamed 4th injured player then that's a concern he was really good on Saturday. If he is then I expect we'll line up like this in a 5-2-3 with Cole and Thomas playing just off O'Hara. Bench is going to be Mo Hutton, Marv and Disco Deek: OFW Comrie/Watson/Connolly/Vytas/MacDonald Dorrans/Pybus Cole/Thomas O'Hara
  21. Is it sold out like? Or did Raith put a time limit on when ticket sales stopped?
  22. Just signed Mark Connolly on loan from Dundee Utd. Another centre half, although probably better than what we already have.
