The decision won’t have been taken by Thistle, but by the police and/or G4S. To my mind it hasn’t happened at any other games at Firhill this season.

It's different if there is trouble in the confines or the stadium or area owned by the club,   Airdrie are responsible for example any issues trouble wise like cove a couple of years back because it was in their property so to speak..

The streets around Maryhill are fair game,  the old bill didn't help much to disperse home fans with a baying mob. (I know FFS it's too much) waiting for the Airdrie fans outside the ground and on Garscube rd,   It was snowballs at 20 paces right enough..

Hopefull our SLO can get all over this...

Had some good post match banter with some luvvies post match in the bakehouse and Cooper's,  The world is truly going mad...

A lot of structural stuff has been ballsed up as well.

The stadium is a white elephant that looks like it will never be used or up to scratch. It lacks basic football amenities but has a dedicated hospitality area for Haughey's cronies. Neither Young Queen's Park or the U18s even are allowed to use it to play games every other week but has been rented out to Celtic's B team and Aberdeen to train on. The club looks like it will never address this with the fanbase.

The training facility at Lochinch is largely just the same as it was when acquired. They've only recently hired a groundsman to maintain and improve the grass pitches as Veldman said early doors  that they're not up to the standard for a professional team to train on with regularity. They also haven't upgraded and put in another all weather pitch that was promised to Beuker to help run the youth system to it's full potential.

There's been a lot of broken promises and failures to deliver in the structural side, the upside is the work done by Beuker on the youth programme side should come fruition in a few years time but there's no doubt part of the reason he'll be leaving shortly is due to the bowling club amateuristic nature of the board.

If there has been broken promises regarding training ground, that was agreed, then surely one of the committee has to take our Willie to task over it,  or are they on the gravy train as well,   looking from the outside in , something is definitely not right ( no shit Sherlock)....

Do you think oor wullie and Dempster will be there in 2 years time....

It’s likely there’ll be more away fans at the cup game than home fans given you struggle to muster even 1,000 supporters every second week. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the visit of a big, glamorous (double cup winning) club to your miserable hovel of a town.

What are you fermers laddies like eh...  Not much of a rivalry between the sides, not much point trying to generate it one now after all these years,  personally I think it is a decent draw and possibly winnable if we get a rub of the green and a strong unbiased ref,

hopefully you Make it down,  plenty overpriced steak pies for you on arrival I hope,

  4. Noticed that Queens Park fans were in the Jacke Husband stand yesterday,  surely even Thistle aren't mad enough to put the Airdrie fans in that stand, we used to , and let's just say it got quite lively at times....

Stick on for the old rickety main stand..

Looks like Brian Graham suspended which has to be a good thing, far too early for predictions, but we have all week to slag and abuse all and sundry if that's ok...

Sean Mcintosh best career highlight was the last minute winner against the rovers where he punched the ball into the net for a 4-3 win

In fairness to the lad he has plugged away and is playing at a decent level,  how many lads of his youth team at the time are still in the game., apart from Rohan and Cadden..

Was that the game with the Russell "volley"

We'll really need to be on our game if the reincarnation of Pirlo is playing.

Mind him and Rohan Ferguson were going to take over the world 😂😂

I remember it well Sean McIntosh was supposed to the second coming, well according to Spanish Armada anyway...

Rohan IMO cost us promotion that season Alloa beat us on pens...   All is eventually forgiven..

  7. I must be honest, in the new years Rangers game a few years back,  I was enjoying the festivities a bit much back then and found myself challenging Bilel Mohsni  as we was walking off the park. In saying that he was claiming everything that moved, Bollan, McLaren and Bain were all after a bit as well..  Mohsni was dragged off the pitch by 4 of his teammates an absolute rocket, who would probably have been knocked out by his shadow...      It amazing what Football turns you into..

Kyle Wilkie scored twice for East Fife that day, remember him?

Craig Watson also came on as a sub for them that day. Fast forward 6 years and he's now a handful of appearances off 100 games for the might diamonds.

To be fair to Kyle Wilkie he was a good player just wasted by injuries,   Craig Watson gets written off many times but rarely lets us down,  good solid player and hopefully here for a good while yet..

You didn't win Saturday's game.  You won the penalty shot out, but as far as the actual game is concerned, it was a draw.  Probably a fair result over the piece as we were appalling in the first half, but we took you apart in the second half.  You may not be aware that we were also missing several players, much as has been the case all season. FWIW I doubt Airdrie will be in relegation bother this season, whereas we need to raise our game to get us out the current quicksand.

After seeing all the teams so far, to me, there is not a team that seems so far adrift performance wise,  Morton are bottom just now and need to dig in over the next 5 games,  I cannot see any side being out of it,    Teams that cannot score goals eventually find themselves near the bottom,   it's a helluva tough league, where every point is a battle unlike League 1 when you can scud teams with relative ease ,it's like night and day..

He's obviously got a bit of a dark side to him and a short fuse I'm not sure I'd want him anywhere near my club.

I know Scottish football is normally all over this kind of stuff,  I wonder why he got let off lightly......

Not to mention telling mistruths in the Quitongo tribunal,  a great ambassador for the PFA.....

I like Cappielow although I’m not a huge fan of the main stand and the support structures that obscure your view. Football grounds should be unique and have an identity, atmosphere and history about them and I think Cappielow is and has that. A roof on the Wee Dublin End and a proper pie hut and I wouldn’t have any complaints about it. How was the game to watch from the cowshed @Passionate? Always liked the look of it in there.

Having suffered in the main stand previously it really is a struggle for anybody over 5 8 ,  legroom is non existent, so cowshed for me,  Good view, good atmosphere and from that viewpoint I get the slight similarities to Old Broomie,   decent enough day out,  looking at what Morton have, how did we end up where we did in League 1 for so long,  only the second time I have been behind enemy lines the other at Dumbarton on the COVID season when away supporters weren't allowed..

  12. As I posted earlier was behind enemy lines in the cow shed watching the game with the local natives,    First Half Airdrie in spells were very good although Morton did seem to surrender the midfield , not our fault and our one touch passing and movement was top drawer,  one criticism was we don't create enough from good positions..   Second Half Morton played 20 yards further forward from the off and went on the front foot , playing in between our lines,   stopping crosses is always.an issue with airdrie and today we.struggled as that was there biggest weapon with the 2 burly Morton strikers head and shoulders above McCabe and Fordyce we rode our luck as every team does and we were dangerous on the counter although O connor at times looked dangerous in space with his pace, but the rest of his game needs major work,  watching him he seems to not want to do the hard yards, until he does the basics well he will struggle....

Good game today,  Cappielow has really not changed much over the years since I was first there in the 80s,  it is probably the closest park you will get to old Broomfield that is left in the game these days....

Assume he’ll switch to a back 4 for this one, it’s his only option really with the personnel missing. Cassidy hasn’t featured much thus far so can’t see him starting this one given it’s the first actual football club we’ll play in this competition, and so I expect the lineup and formation to be more familiar than the strange shape we seemed to play in the last couple of rounds. Hopefully Fordyce will be back and it will be him and McCabe in the middle with Ballantyne and Watson at full-back. Otherwise, assume it will be McCabe and Watson at centre-half with A.N. Other at right-back? TBF going up against Oakley and Muirhead could potentially be the best or worst introduction to big boys fitba for Cassidy that he could get depending on your perspective. Wouldn’t mind giving the likes of Gabby, O’Connor, Dunlop and GavGal (if he’s back?) a start in this one. Suspect he’ll play as close to his strongest starting XI as possible.

Is Gav Gal still at the club....

Megwa cup-tied and ATS on international duty this weekend along with Hancock and Aiken’s injuries. If we’re keeping the same system we’ll need Fordyce back in and someone like McGregor playing wing back. Otherwise it could be a switch back to a back 4 with Watson and Ballantyne at full back and Fordyce and McCabe and centre back.

Would think he will change to a 4,  although he could bring in Cassidy at CH like he did at Stirling..

Up front. Do we change it about and get Gabby involved , we have options, although no partnership up top has really clicked this season.

Should be a decent game,  with the semis not booked in until February,  it would give either side something to look forward to..
