Would agree with the assessment that we’re still in need of additions across the park. Centre mid is where we’ve got our most strength in depth but with McCabe injured and Devenny gone we’re cutting it pretty fine now, as one more injury in there and we’re down to playing every centre mid available. An injury to Frizzell especially and we’re fucked.

Telfer is playing injured, not training due to a knee injury apparently, he certainly was struggling at end of extra time,,  next man up then is Elliot Dunlop ,  so I agree we need  players,  are you confident of getting them in..

Still could do with another centre-half. I did previously want a left-back but Ballantyne has been a revelation there and with him, Hancock and even Fellows I’m pretty content with our options there. If anything another right-back would be preferable IMO as if Watson is out we’d have to move Ballantyne there, which would necessitate two changes to the team rather than one direct swap. A Watson-like replacement in a player who could play centre-half and right-back would be ideal. East or O’Reilly wouldn’t fit that bill but I’d still take either if offered.

I’d like another forward too as I do think we suffered in the Dunfermline game from having literally no options to change things around. IMO a forward who can play out wide, a Callum Smith replacement essentially, would be best as while I like McGregor and O’Connor, I still think we can do better. I do get the Connor Smith ‘attitude not fitting into the team’ thing that @thediamonddude mentioned but for me, his attitude and being a bit more ‘cute’ or ‘streetwise’ is actually why I think he’d be a good addition. It’s something that we lack and, while one player probably wouldn’t have made a difference in this particular game, it was one of the facets of their game that helped Ross County beat us on Saturday. Mind you, I’ve been wanting this sort of player since the start of last season and not having one hasn’t really harmed us ultimately so what do I know!

Hopefully, mainly for @Passionate and @cb_diamond’s sake, we see a few pens out before Saturday 😉

    As a realist very unlikely,

As an aside, I’ve noticed that Joe Cassidy (the reserve player on the bench on Saturday) is also on the books of Consillium so that’s a good laugh if nothing else.

Shock, horror. Is that a remit when signing players...  mmhhh

Only time I’ve seen us play Airdrie was back in January 2010 in our 1 season down. Sure we won 1-0 but got no idea who scored and can’t remember much of the game other than Dani Sanchez trying to lob the keeper from miles out

Won’t make this one as I am utterly skint and saving my pennies. We’ll get beat, we’ll all moan about how shite it is and Dodds will still be in a job

.Most memorable game I can remember was the first league game of The Archibald era,  Sombrero Saturday it was called, roasting hot , sombreros everywhere and we ended up on the the end of a 4 goal hiding..

Both clubs fortunes we contrasting back then..

I saw you guys against Dumbarton a few weeks back, alright you lost, but in any other game you would have won easily,  Welsh and Carson is as good a midfield pairing going around ,what's happened are you in a managed decline status as a club..

Can’t remember that, just Owen Coyle pinging the ball into our net at regular intervals 😂
…and Paul Sheerin sitting in the away support.
Most people’s happy memories of Stevie Paterson’s time include the occasional freaky result like that one. A couple of months later we went to Tynie in the Scottish and destroyed Hearts 3-1.

I think we signed owenie at that time from Ross County,  don't know what happened there,  he seemed shot when we initially got him back, but McCall somehow got that side to click and we had a great season although ultimately ended in heartbreak on and off the park.

ICT have had a great run,  do you think you will get back to the Premiership, or is not that good to be a fan in that league,  Dodds from afar seems to be doing a decent job,  hearing a few rumblings that is not the case,  Dodds is a west coast media whore though, so everything is always rosy..

  4. Good luck to young Justin, a player when Murray had him looked like a typical 18 year old Loanee,  got released by killie,  Rhys picked him up and came back a totally different player,  that  doesn't happen to every player released by bigger clubs,  it shows there is talented laddies getting lost to the game..

What will happen next it won't be signings that's for sure..

In saying that we have signed GK Liam Prunty and CH Joe Cassidy from QP they I would imagine would go into the Under 18s ,  and also we are in  the old  Reserve League West this season which starts next week,  so whatever fee once it gets diced up by Jackie Mac's cut,  Killies development cut and whatever we get left with which will be split up into a  payment schedule anyway,  I would imagine it will go into the club 'infrastructure' to help fund the Under 18 and new reserve setup,   To be honest not bad for a lad on a one year deal though is it..

Our record defeat came in a trip to Airdrie, 6-0 drubbing in 2001.  I was planning on going but got drunk the night before and slept through it.

We are complete garbage.  I doubt we'll be signing anyone before this game, I fully expect Airdrie to win by a couple of goals.

Remember it well,  Inverness were the next big thing,  and Airdrie put them to the sword,  with Lee Gardiner pulling the strings.

Funny how things worked out that season,  Inverness ended up being the next big thing and we went bust....

  6. Sometimes in Football you learn a lot more about your team in defeat than you do in victory,    even although we lost in extra time and a potential cash bonanza,  we have showed enough to suggest we are better than an 8th place target, only if we realise our potential and invest in the squad****, time to cut the bungee. Cord and see where this team and management can take us, while they are here (I can see Falkirk failing laughingly yet again, think about it).  My problem is a talented side only on one year deals (Watson aside apparently) ,  Management team on one year deals,  Being in the Championship is where we should be, I do not ever want to darken league 1 again, The Excelsior is buzzing and so it should be, that is what is was built for,   alright costs go up, tell us about it,   but the prize money and additional crowds gate money is substantial and we really shouldn't be scrapping around with 15 or 16 players.. if so all of the above will be irrelevant and all this potential and positivity will disappear and we will end up unfortunately where we started with nothing and a lot of regrets...

The time is now , look up don't look back,   we all know we need a 2nd GK, our style of play means Josh gets caught in areas of the park and he will see red again due to it,  our centre Half's including Hancock are very good on the deck, our Achilles heel is still cross balls and lack of aggression , yesterday we struggled with White all game and at times Graham last week,  so an aggressive siege centre half,  a replacement for Devenney who to be fair hasn't been involved much this season, but is still a major loss,,  heard a few talking about a potential Stanway transfer at the game (Thistle want money for him, surely not).

We know what we need to take baby steps further in the teams progression,  will we get them,    would you be shocked if I wasn't confident....

Willie Aitchson stepping in to help the coaching set up..

To be fair he does have his coaches  badges......

In all seriousness Willie became a bit of a joke figure,  but stepped into the breqch when we as a club were completely on our arse and nobody would look at us,,  we have come a long way....

We had quite an enjoyable afternoon with him at the helm at Clifton hill did we not...

Thinking we should make a move for Connor Smith and bump Wotherspoon but maybe the manager feels we need the experience. Our team is very young. A bit too young.

We have given Wotherspoon some amount of time to make his mind up. Apparently still training with us too? There must be more to this if we have allowed this to drag on so long.

Smith to Thistle is the latest I have heard, bit to be fair, it's about the only team he hasn't been linked with

@Passionate does like to be Scottie McClue of the forum but it's a fair point as a reminder not too get carried away with our good start and that we still need to add to the squad with the transfer window fast approaching.

When is loan deadline this season?

So you are agreeing with me kenny_m,   we are old hats at this game,

Hold on we are not kicking the can down the road again are we,  Loan window is end of September,   You are going to run out of excuses soon.....

that will really get the juices flowing eh! 😑

On the plus side, I look forward to the twitter fan boys/dans photoshopping stanways head onto messi with quotes like "welcome back my king" and "The goat"

Haud me back, a happy bench warmer just what we need,

Don't want to be over critical but do you think we are in for any of players mentioned and have we a working recruitment policy....   Doubtful is my answer to both....

  11. Time is now guys,   this has to a line in the sand moment,   We had the same problem a number of years ago when Ballantynes managed decline remit came to a head...  it wasn't pleasant but needed to be done to survive and eventually prosper..

All this talk of boycotts is no use, alright for  your vigilante mob, that will do nothing long term...

It needs calm heads and a plan , it is your club,  can you buy out the owners, not sure of clubs status,  these kind of things tend to have an over subscribed consortium attached short term, enough time to change the direction and vision of the club.. Time to be brave....

If you don't you are on a one way ticket to oblivion...

Oh and get Duffy tae f**k

  12. This thread is turning into a bin fire this week,   after arguably our biggest win in seasons in our return to the championship,  Remember League 1 forum for the League 1 pish.

Any further update on Devenney, is McCabes injury a season ender and do we plan to increase the squad before the window slams shut..

A Facebook rumour of a signing on Monday, surprisingly came to nothing,,

    Someone must be ITK...

And not to forget a massive League Cup tie against Premier opposition coming up on Saturday..

  13. Connor Smith is a good player,  he scored 5 goals in 15 games last season in a relegated team,  he came to the fore with 2 good performances against a 3 rd place League 1 team(us)..    was he all that performance wise in the championship ( Hamilton fans help) he might have struggled we don't really know...  It is a position that needs upgrading, are we even in for him ,,but so does no2 GK,  LB , CM we have a fortnight to go to get players in , are we confident, we have 3 Loanee slots left,  Devenney will surely go to Palace,  McCabe could be out long term,  all of a sudden we are short in midfield, we have holes all over the squad,  Saturday was wonderful, we are a breath of fresh air, let's keep our feet on the ground and sign what we need, if not the feel good factor will disappear like snow off a dyke..

We don't have to wait till the last minute,  how about signing a couple this week and play them against Ross County to increase our chances of progression..

  14. Gutsy performance from Airdrie, stuck to their game plan and passed the life out of Thistle,  we had a 20 minutes spell in the second half when Thistle couldn't live with us,  Graham and co are top finishers, but they didn't do the hard yards today,  Well worthy winners today,  injuries seem to be piling up again a McCabe didn't look great, looked more like a lower back injury initially,  and he then  appears on crutches with an iced knee and McMaster who was very good came off holding his hammy....

A little disappointed with Partick,  what has happened to Harry Milne ,  a stick out at Cove,  he looked very unfit and blowing out his arse after half an hour,

In my opinion it should be Devenny starting if Telfer is not fit.

As Kennym is always saying it's all about the money,     no chance Devenney will start..

We are a little unlucky with injuries possibly 3 out in most teams isn't much of a problem,  3 out in our side is catastrophic (too much I know). Looking like same as last week with Aiken replacing Telfer with little or no option off the bench,   Partick are the exact opposite to ourselves and signing players at will it seems....

We cannot afford too many more hard luck stories this league is ruthless and let's be honest everybody knew it would be..

With Partick signing all and sundry what's the odds of Stanway coming back on loan......

Am I reading your post right? Dodds refused to manage the team on cup final day over his contract?? shocking if true and no more than holding the board to ransom, what a scurrilous little shit he is and it sounds as if the board were willing to get rid of him after that game until he blackmailed them.

The majority of us want to see the back of him as proven by that survey on CTO and all the adverse posts on here.

I have never known such negativity surrounding the team.

Sadly I'm hearing that ST sales are down no doubt down to him

The best and easiest to get rid of another media whore in Billy Dodds is sign another media whore in Charlie Mulgrew,  it will then be death by a thousand cuts,  Scottish football you have got to love it..
