Wotherspoon is as just in keeping fit there’s no chance we could afford his wages

The last time I looked he was wasnt making a wage,  and is a free agent,  as you say probably out with our budget,  don't think any Premier sides will sign him would probably have done so by now,   There does come a time when players through age or injuries begin to drop down the leagues, this might be his time..

The relative success of the high press was more a function of Airdrie being knackered and still led to us conceding the winner due to the space we were leaving at the back.

Dodds needs to be starting his best XI against Dundee so we can at least try to breed some understanding into our defence before the league starts.

The one thing that stuck out for ICT was the depth of squad,  you were getting played off the park first half, Dodds changed it up and basically changed half the team to get a response and it worked and you could argue you deserved a draw,  that squad depth can take you far in this league,   Airdrie who quite rightly are getting a lot of plaudits have a threadbare squad and once form and injuries begin to bite in this physical league, results become affected...

Saw yourselves at Dumbarton last week and the same arguably should have got something out of that game,  still think you will finish second or third this season..

If we are not bringing in a back up keeper before the season starts, then Hutton needs some game time given he will be in for the Dunfermline game. Would be great to play him on Saturday knowing we are already top of the group, if Dundee and Dumbarton draw tomorrow.

Fantastic start to the season,  I cannot see Hutts playing in the first game,  we signed DJ for the Falkirk 2nd leg,  can see an emergency loan coming in..

This discussion has been done to death and will continue,  it is easier to recruit when a team is winning, don't rest on your laurels,  we are still short of 3 players, not including the Devenney situation (if there is one)..  surely some movement in the next week or so,   rumoured at the weekend that Wotherspoon was training with us as well as the kosovan 18 year old winger Geshi ?

    Any further potential incomings,   thoughts...

  4. Decent game today, we competed well against SPL opponents,  Dundee were decent enough without really threatening,  The pace down the flanks caused us bother especially first half, Rudden was hopeless, seen the lad a few times and never been impressed.

Airdrie had a gameplan and as long as Rhys is on the park he will stick rigidly to it,    was wondering why Devenney was missing again,  first I have heard of his potential move,  Aiken was very good  I thought, gets around the pitch well, reminds me of Stanway except better.   ATS and Fordyce again we're very good, just the one ball over the top caught us out with the predictable Rae foul to follow,  after his save the game really picked up with the ref losing the plot and any control he had..

We are short though, take out 2 or 3 players and we are in big trouble ,  still plenty time though, been saying that for a while though..

Leaders of men are few and far between these days,  Rhys McCabe is a true leader and his players give their all for him,   who is the last player we had to have such an impact on players round about him Paul Lovering....

Agree with others, I think if Josh had stayed injury free in his career then there's no doubt he would have been playing at least in the championship. Brighton must have seen something once upon a time,  to sign him, albeit for the development squad.

Denied a few absolute rasping free kicks by the woodwork or good goalkeeping and seems like just a nice guy to have around the place.

Agree with most,  Kerr has class when he is on his game and happy,  under pressure he can lose concentration pretty easily,  wish the lad well,   interestingly if he signs it's another player moving on a 2 year deal,   a number of clubs are doing this,  we don't it seems,   is this another reason for the lack of recruitment are players holding out for a little more security on 2 year deals, it is a risk,  but so is a 1 year deal with vultures like Murray waiting to hoover up our best players, will no doubt happen again....

Looking forward to the Dundee game premier League side,  No preseason training game like last week please Rhys...

Looks like the away kit has been leaked on Twitter.

Red with a black diamond by the looks of things. The black top with a red diamond is always a favourite and I’m surprised they’ve never done the reverse before. It’s something I’ve always wanted them to go for so I’m looking forward to seeing it!

It does look nice although more of a brown diamond than black going by those pics,  waiting in anticipation..

Couldn't believe it when I seen it, I think they'll reduce it tho due to backlash and the amount of Steak pies leftover at the end of the game lol.

They could do with rethinking the whole structure, compared to Dunfermline and Falkirk last season,  who had a variety of options to purchase, meal deal etc our setup was and is pretty basic..

Onto pricing 3 quid for a small scotch pie,  5 quid for a small steak pie rinsed done with a cup of tap water at 50p

The hot drinks and I have been told hot dogs are reasonable though...

With us already paying 2 quid a head more to get in due to being up a league,  costs go up etc but not that noticeable surely...

In comparison I remember the old pie stall at Broomfield at the back of the enclosure in the mid 80s, used to get a Bovril for my dear old da and packet of crisps for myself for running the gauntlet and it was hopelessly overpriced then as well ,

Is £5 for a hot steak pie that dear? At Tesco, for example an individual steak pie costs £3.65, that needs to be heated, add staff costs at the kiosk and I think the club need to charge 20% VAT on hot food sales so I doubt if there is much profit for the club

Personally think it's a bit steep,  the hot drinks, fizzy juice are reasonable,  and the amount of hot dogs that were consumed must be decently priced although not sure how much...

Does anybody know, if we rent the piestall to Christie's, and they sell there products at whatever price to make a profit,  or do the club run it , purchase the goods from Christie's and sell at a profit themselves.. ..

This isnt a moan just a question...

It was weird following one of our games using social media and betting websites and actually seeing us attacking and having a good chunk of possession at times. How did Michael Ruth look? My main concern at this stage is that we seem to be wasting chances and still don’t really have anyone who’s looking like they’ll notch double figures.

I thought Dumbarton were decent, good game plan,  high press seemed to suit you and we were rattled for spells,  2 full backs were sharp and a bit of composure and you could have been up, in saying that I felt Airdrie were playing well within themselves,    Sean Crighton was just Sean Crighton, with Durnan alongside him at the back there is plenty brawn, but little passing ability, could be an issue if teams sit in,  would think you guys will be decent this season..

As I said on our thread that Dumbarton strip is a belter ,

If you just look at the first half, Airdrie didn't do any better than us in their game.

Don't bring us into it,  yes we played the game like a training session,  Dumbarton didn't, we won 2 nil,   although we need to improve big time,

But like yourselves , like it or not the group stages are treated like a preseason, until possibly the last games if you still have a chance..

Falkirk should pish this league, but the problem is McGlynn a dinosaur,  he showed his true colours in the 2nd leg of the play off semi, a cowardly performance and he should have been punted then,   surely not getting promoted is unthinkable this season....on many fronts

  11. Good for the football to return and the diamonds getting a decent start in tis cup section,   probably more luck than judgement though,  game had a very pre season feel to it,  we tapped that ball about like a training session,  we should have been a couple up by half time,  Dumbarton caused us some problems, but there finishing was woeful, would have been interesting if they scored first,  we seemed to have plenty gears to go up if it was needed and the subs made a difference,  Todorov looks decent, good pace as well for a big guy ,

Midfielders all look pretty similar,  McMaster struggled played too deep as did the defence most of the game, Aiken neat and tidy ,    we missed McCabe in the middle, expect him to start against Dundee,  IMO he must play,  will be interesting the first game of the season at Dunfermline when all four of our management team/coaches could easily start the game....

And for what it's worth that Dumbarton strip is a cracker..

Wonder why Gall has lost his role as vice captain wonder if it’s ti do with him being part time

Agree about spreading responsibility on the park and dressing room,  seemed a bit of a closed shop last season and was discussed at depth on here..

Gal who was outstanding last season just lost the vice captaincy,  could this be an issue, probably not,  although it says to me that Todorov has taken his jersey, and I was of the opinion of that before the captaincy thing....

Can anybody figure out how to shoehorn Gal and Todorov into the same team without the shape and style of play being affected...
