    Hi all.

Okay, I'm a newcomer to all this, and have decided to join. I've been viewing posts on p&b for many years and have been supporting Falkirk for longer.

Personally, our current crop are the worst I've seen.

We lost our most influential and creative player in John Baird (I know some will disagree) in the summer. His last season he didnt score as many as we expected, but he created chances, plenty of lay offs, and dragged defenders creating space for others. Id have him back in a heart beat.

Hartley imo lacks man management skills, and is more like a second hand car dealer. Hopefully he can ship out the old bangers, and bring some shiny new ones to the forecourt. His turnaround of players is astranomical, however he did make some serious money with the reselling of the two from Cowdenbeath, and Bain was a good signing also. He does seem to have the tendency to fall out with players. Is he coming across as a Billy Big Time. If so, I can see why the players would be like that.

Anyway, we have to get behind the 11 on the park no matter who they are. Someone like John Sutton on 18 month deal is exactly who we should be going for. Get us out our current situation, and help us next season.

Stennie have a few young players coming through, and their midfield is certainly stronger than ours. Id prefer we took a punt on some young midfielders with hunger in the lower leagues, or someone who has played in the Scottish Premiership with something to prove.

We have some farcical diddies just now. I personally would have given Alex Smith the gig until end of season.

His tactics were spot on in the two games, whereas Hartley has been inept.

    Rant over, COYB

A newcomer to football..or mind bending drugs?

  2. Time will tell but will hopefully fill the role that's been so badly needed. Why we didn't sign a speedy winger in the summer I don't know.Hopefully now now with Aird, Hippolyte , O' Hara and a fit Austin we can inject some much needed pace about our play. We're crying out for a bit energy and excitement. Here's hoping.

  3. I've always agreed with Houstons post match analysis up until 2 games ago. I really think he's feeling the pressure and now is his biggest test as Bairns manager. His recruitment hasn't been the greatest but the lack of chances created and goals scored is a worry. I did think v Hibs was better than previous weeks mind you. Some of our 'fans' are horrific mind you.

  4. Actually thought we were quite poor first half tempo not high enough and 2.0 was flattering us. Goal back for Elgin..good strike made us up our game a bit and 3rd goal killed the tie for me. Good to see the strikers scoring breeds confidence for them and team alike. Subs made us look stronger again as Elgin tired. Reckon Craigen must be well out of sorts and pleasing for me was I actually thought Shepherd done ok who I've never really rated but maybe just maybe he can add a bit of pace and width where we desperately need it. Houston seems to rate him. Gallagher looked the class act we've heard about. Glad of convincing win let's take it on into next week.

  5. Re Pressley...I see he has been scouting for Strachan for the Malta game. Watch out for Scotland celebrating a glorious 0.0.

On a serious note I believe Pressley would be great heading up a youth academy or director of football at a club. Sadly  for him I just don't think he's cut out to be a manager.

  6. For certain games where we need a physical presence in the middle of the park I wouldn't be adverse to sticking Muirhead in there..even coming on a sub.Bit of height and strength. Think one of his first games for us was semi final versus  Hibs and came on and done that role pretty effectively. Maybe some games this season where that is required.

  7. Recruitment has been an issue for Houston he tends to play safe most times and hasn't unearthed a gem . The first season I'd cut him some slack due to timing of his appointment and the sale of McGrandles. Last year he improved but this season was his big test on signings imo.So far it doesn't look good but most fans were happy with the signings of Hippolyte Kidd and Gasporotto and Austin so a bit more time is required to fully judge them. Houston will  find a formula/ selection that works however it might not be pleasing on the eye.

  8. A pish poor performance yesterday with a midfield bereft of ideas, width, pace and creativity...oh and height and strength. Why oh why did we sign Rankine..too similar to what we already have. Both center halfs were weak also. For me Bairds is done as a Bairns player. His record at any club shows he's a one season wonder then tails off then moves on. The BOD are at the root of the problem but Houston isn't blameless with uninspiring signings and seems to go for the safe option when approaching games. Need a win soon to install some confidence on and off the park.

  9. Still early days but it's plainly obvious that we lack creativity outwith Sibbald.

Houston still not sure of his best strike combination but that will come with time.

Be interesting to see how we approach the next two away games as we could find ourselves winless after 3 games.

Some good points from yesterday we need to build on.
