  1. The concerns for your average Israeli citizen will be much the same as any other nations's citizens, with an added emphasis on security. There is also a sizable portion of citizens and legislators, who are fully on board with ugly, racist, ethnonationalist settlement programmes and apartheid. The current settlement policy and treatment of the Palestinians is a suitable/preferred/unfortunate/good/bad/mandatory solution for Israeli citizens concerns about security. Delete as appropriate. On the second part, there is the continuing fear that Israel's neighbours will gang up to wipe them off the map, although they have normalised relations with many of them now. But, if the cost to Israeli lives can be minimised then there is virtually no need for the government to seek any type of solution anyway. Why risk any potential future issues when you can slowly remove or eradicate the problem and the international community will either support you or look the other way ?
  2. Day 1 of a major championship. Here we go.
  3. 1. With great difficulty I presume. Support for Israel is very much a bipartisan endeavour. Grassroots stuff will only get you so far, when you're up against the likes of AIPAC. 2. a. You can't. It's not my or your place to tell the Israeli's who to vote for. We can rule out a coup, because Israel is not a left wing South American country. Sanctions maybe, but I'd be opposed to any kind of collective punishment of normal citizens. b. The current regime will not change their view on this. Extreme right wing groups don't tend to take their boot off your throat when they have the upper hand.
  4. One side enjoys full backing and funding from the world's biggest superpower and are able to flout and break international law at will, with absolutely zero consequences. I believe that the current Israeli administration is opposed to the one state solution, the two state solution and any recognition of Palestine as a state. Until this changes, the prospect of any type of solution is remote.
  5. How are you getting on with reporting all that antisemitism and starting those threads about repressed minorities that you were extremely concerned about the other day ?
  6. I remain steadfast in my principles, this has always been an anti British account.
  7. There's been some terrible posting on this thread recently, yourself amongst the worst offenders, but this might top the lot. Reported.
  8. Ah, petty point scoring and whataboutery regarding each others anti social behaviour and pointless achievements, before we're all pals again and reminiscing about auld posters. Nature is healing.
  9. When it comes to the employment of village idiots, I'm very much a 'British jobs for British people' type of nativist.
  10. Remember Alba ? Remember yer Da used to go on about em all the time ? What were that all about ?
  11. Robert Jenrick, speaking on behalf of the government states that anti zionism is antisemitism.
  12. It's not the worst boozer in Edinburgh, but since the restrictions have been relaxed it's meant to be absolutely rammed at the weekends, with zero consideration for the rules etc. They've turned the front part into the CafèTorino. Popped in a few weeks ago, it wouldn't look out of place in any of the more upmarket Edinburgh neighbourhoods. Had the Sweet potato, Chili and Coconut soup. Delicious.
  13. If you're stuck, The Tor isn't too concerned with snowflake notions such as capacity or distancing. You'll get in there no worries.
  14. Purple kangaroo defeats Beef2711 via resignation. A 1st home defeat for me in almost a season and a half. Miscalculated a middle game exchange, thought I was going to get a rook for a knight, and ended up a knight down after completely missing an obvious pawn push. Battled on for a bit, but unless he made an absolute schoolboy error, I was never recovering. Not my finest moment, but my opponent more than deserved his victory. Well played @craigkillie sir. Looking forward to the return.
  15. The fact that this has been explained to you multiple times now means that I'm going to have to assume you're simply just arguing in bad faith. For the last time, this is not an overly complex issue. One side has enormous power, they are the most powerful country in the region, they are backed by the US and the West, both 'morally' and financially and militarily to the tune of billions of dollars. It is able to act on another population with total impunity and is never held accountable. There is no 'both sides', when the sides are so asymmetrical and no amount of 'they should just vote Hamas out', or 'they should just move to another country' or fucking Kum by yah music videos are going to change that. Let's try another thing though. Imagine the roles were reversed. There's an Arab government in Jerusalem and a bunch of Jewish refugees have ended up in the West bank and Gaza. This Arab government have turned 'Jewish Gaza' into an open air prison and bomb it with white phosphorus and kill civilians including children indiscriminately. There's embargoes, little or no medical provision and intermittent electricity and clean running water, there's high rates of malnutrition and low rates of life expectancy. The Jews in the West bank have a little more freedom, but are still terrorised by the Arab security forces, are forbidden to be in certain areas or use certain roads and Arab settlers have been known to kick them out of their houses and smash their businesses and pull up their crops. I don't doubt for one second that you (or indeed the US and others) would have no hesitation in calling this out for what it is. So just fucking stop it.
  16. There's bad people on both sides of our personal argument m8. Although it looks like you've just lost the strategic balance here my dude.
  17. I'm not sure this 'if you don't like it there, then f**k off to another country' is going to be quite the breakthrough in the peace process you think it is tbh.
  18. Hearing Willie has also been doctoring the EDL Abdul video. Apparently in the original, they are innocently singing "I'd rather be a Jackie than a Kim" A traditional song about a pair of sisters from Govan.
  19. Voted Hibernian the worst for David Tanner. Voted Hibernian the best for Irvine Welsh making the Rangers fans go crying to Ofcom
  20. I seem to remember quite a bit of preparation, fan areas being set up and police liason etc. before Manchester tbh. It didn't stop the Chelsea fans then, not sure why anyone thinks it would have stopped them at the weekend.
