  1. It's usually about 10 or 11. After that it switches to mate in x moves, because the advantage is so overwhelming at that point.
  2. Lumping on the 12/1 for Derek Mackay here. Incredible value. It's basically buying money.
  3. He's not a member of the SNP. I was going to put a couple of comedy options, but this is the political forum. Politics is serious business.
  4. Hope this guy makes it to the big leagues.
  5. **Fantasy Golf Week 8** (long)Iron(s)Man In a week that may be the 1st in the post Tiger era after the worrying events earlier in California, Collin Morikawa staked his claim to be his successor after a peerless display of iron play reminiscent of the Cat in his prime. He now ranks alongside Woods as the only pair to claim both a Major and a WGC before the age of 25. He left Hovland, Koepka and Scheffler in his wake, but those 3 will take heart that they coped well with the difficult green complexes at The Concession in the run up to the Masters. It proved to be a popular venue, so let's hope we see more of it in the future. An emotional Brandon Grace won the battle of the jobbers in Puerto Rico. We have a new leader this week. Morikawa's win propels @die hard doonhamer to the top of the rankings, in what is threatening to become a two horse race. The chasing pack have bunched up behind after a poor week for a couple of teams. Standings 598 (105) @die hard doonhamer 595 (81) @J_Stewart 503 (62) @lichtie23 497 (24) @Ro Sham Bo 484 (105) @Tartan Dave 476 (30) @alta-pete 443 (93) @peasy23 435 (57) @Purple Bricks 346 (42) @Distant Doonhamer 312 (110) @Henderson to deliver ..... 279 (105) @Honest_Man#1 We head to Arnie's place next for the great man's Invitational at the deceptively named Bay Hill. A favoured tour stop for many years, it's a typical PGA Florida course. Flat, long, with raised greens, Bermuda grass, sand and plenty water. Usually one of the toughest venues on tour, last years winner Tyrrell Hatton was one of only 4 to finish under par and it tends to favour non Americans, only 2 Yanks have won here since 2006. A stones throw from Disneyland, this this is no Mickey mouse test (see what I did there) and a nice wee addition to anyone's CV. A top class field will all be looking to slip on the coveted *checks notes* red cardigan.
  6. Yeah, you were up a rook over a bishop, but the rook became a liability on e3. I was having fits about that f pawn though, couldn't see a way to get a couple of checks and a mate without stopping you promoting. Was a thoroughly enjoyable game though, and I think a draw is fair. The opening was a stafford gambit, which is a tricksy opening, you defended it near perfect though, which gives you a pawn, plus control of the centre. I think I'll bin it and go back to the Caro Kann or the French as that's twice I've used it against yourself and Eindhovendee and only managed to fight for a draw in both games.
  7. Didn't realise I was 4.67 up, thought it was pretty even give or take. You had me on the ropes at one point, but once I got my queen out, then parked her on d4 it swung the game back.
  8. I think the advantage white has of playing first is increased even more in the 960 format.
  9. 1st window is week before masters.
  10. 2 stroke penalty for those white feet imo. Like 2 dead fish on the end of his legs.
  11. Yaasss, Billy getting the shoes off.
  12. Grace wins in Puerto Rico to land me some much needed fantasy points.
  13. Morikawa giving a ball striking clinic here this weekend.
  14. Congratulations to St Johnstone, who join the Edinburgh clubs in the elite tier of multiple cup winners this century. Unlucky Livingston, perhaps it's time to move the franchise away from a silly little town full of roundabouts.
  15. Beef2711 and eindhovendee share the spoils in a hard fought top of the table clash. I had the initiative early doors, but good play from eindhoven forced me into a passive phase of play. Looking at the report I was eventually 5.36 down before a repetition draw, so happy to escape with a point here.
