Why dont Rangers or Celtic start 2 new team brands (Glasgow Bears and Glasgow Bhoys for eg) at the bottom of the lowland pyramid. Build a small terraced stadium for them to play their reserve/youth teams. They would probably attract decent crowds and if they rised through the leagues nobody could complain. Could even be a money spinner for them with different branded merchandise for them to sell. Ownership rules could be a problem but that probably would be overcome easily with a decent lawyer.
Only 1 team guaranteed to go up from a league of 14. Pathetic. Scottish football is a shambles. Leagues of 16 or 18 or 20 with 3 up 3 down same as most of the other leagues in Europe!
I like the idea of 14-14-14. It has a fairer split and not as many teams you have to play 4 times. It should be permanent though not just to save Hearts.
In England they are discussing merging league 2 with the National league and splitting into North and South divisions. Do they have the same stupid voting structure down there as us?
Putting Championship games on pay tv will never happen. They would never get the subscription figures needed to make it worth while. Plus the product isnt a high standard and can look terrible on tv. Ever watched our teams on BBC Scotland on a Friday night? Looks awful on TV and that's on a professional (kind off) TV network, not wee tam with his Go Pro. We all follow our teams with blind love and enjoy the social aspect of going to support our local team but it doesn't always translate well on to tv. Only the big 5 best supported teams (not Falkirk) in Scotland could make this work and even 3 of them might struggle.
Winners and losers in every league restructure but I honestly dont think Clyde have much to complain about here. In fact this restructure, if voted in, is pretty fair on all teams. Bigger leagues is what most fans want so let's give it a try.
Swings and roundabouts. You would have a far better chance of being promoted to the championship too would you not? Really cant see many negatives with 3 leagues of 14.
The Spfl is big enough dont need more teams. They were never guaranteed a promotion anyway only a playoff. We lost our playoffs too. I would make automatic promotion places for non league in the future though.
A minor problem, more a promotion for the other teams. To create bigger leagues this is always going to happen. Gives Clyde a better chance of promotion to the 2nd tier in the future.
Not really. Clyde will be in the 3rd tier same as before. All playoffs have been scrapped so that's why no promotion from non league. I would introduce automatic places for non league teams for next season though (2 down from new league 1). I'm an Ayr fan and scrapping playoffs has also affected my team but we need to move forward.
Heard a rumour that 12-12-18 could be back on the cards with the 8-8-8 split in the top 2 divisions. All other ideas have little chance of getting voted through by the premiership teams. Hearts may have to take relegation but this would give them the best or easiest way to get promoted next season.
