I need to go out and buy food. So should I buy a steak pie to eat for my lunch or should I buy the basic ingredients for a sandwich? I'm swaying towards the steak pie.

My e-mail is finally working again through the university internet. I hadn't been able to get onto it for a week or so Quite annoying when I needed to send a few important e-mails but at least everything is working now.

I expected that. I can't get onto my e-mail through the uni internet service (a bit bizarre really but apparently it's going to be getting sorted in the next day or so) so I seriously doubt I could get on any more sinister sites I'm not going to try anyway. Edit: I can't even give you a green dot

I'm not sure where to ask this question (not sure if it should be asked here on in the E-chat part of the forum), but here will do I guess. My flat-mate has asked me if the university can see what he is doing on his laptop if he is connected to the internet service provided by the uni (I think he is connected through an ethernet cable to that telephone plug bit). I told him I don't know but I could try and find out. Any ideas. I believe he said something about him always using "In Private browsing" or what ever it is called. I use Google Chrome so I don't know what he was talking about. More to the point I'm slightly concerned as to why he is worried about the uni finding what websites he has been on

In The Loop I thought this was great - really funny and quite satirical. Peter Capaldi is hilarious in it ("Climbing the mountain of conflict"? You sounded like a Nazi Julie Andrews!) and whoever plays Simon Foster plays the hopeless politician wonderfully. Also good to see the excellent James Gandolfini make an appearance in it. Not much else to say other than go and watch it. One of the funniest films I have seen in a while - there a genuine "laugh out loud" moments and I was left in stitches of laughter at some points. Seeing as everyone seems to rate the films they have watched, I'm going to give "In The Loop" an 8/10.

I just realised today that I have a few films that I forgot I had taken down with me. I only realsied this after I bought a couple of films today from some shop called "Fopp" I believe. The films I will be working my way through are: In The Loop Apocalypse Now Donnie Darko Insomnia No Country For Old Men The Departed Reservoir Dogs I'm a big Scorsese fan, so I was surprised to find that I hadn't actually opened "The Departed" when I found I had it. I have never watched all of "Reservoir Dogs" nor "No Country For Old Men" but I liked what I saw of them. First up, "In The Loop".

I liked it at first. Then after watching it a few more times I think it's a film that had so much potential but just loses its way. Obviously the fact that it is based around Stalingrad may have made me like it at first but the line at the end about how Communism can't work because they can't both have the girl is just ridiculous. Good scenes when the snipers are chasing each other (in the factory, the train yard - not the bit at the end - and the building when the Luftwaffe are bombing), but the script is terrible.

I can't wait until we start getting into proper discussion in Politics tutorials. It should be interesting.

The thing I want to share with P&B contains both a RTBC and a PTTYOYN. I had my first Politics tutorial today. There seems to be a fascination with people using "flowerly" language to try and get a point across. It makes no difference to their point or their argument. I dislike this. On the plus side, I was sitting beside two absolute stunners.

I discovered last Friday that being hungover in a lecture isn't a smart move - especially when you just want to sleep but the only place you can get a seat is at the front, luckily I had my dictaphone so I didn't need to do anything other than sit there wallowing in self-pity and disgust. Neither is verging on chundering on the subway at 8am. I will learn from these mistakes. I will learn.

I exited the Subway on Argyle Street today. Wandered past the Celtic shop and almost got hit by a car coming out of the wee street/lane beside the Celtic shop. The car was a Rolls-Royce. Inside the car was a chauffeur and Scotland star Lee McCulloch. True story.

The current lecturer I have is Chris Moore. The man has the worst hairstyle known to man. It makes Bobby Charlton's comb over look exquisite. Words can't explain the monstrosity of what is essentially 5 strands of hair slicked back. He also dresses like someone trying to take the piss out of the early 90s. But thankfully he doesn't have a monotone voice.

I'm probably reading too much then. Should reading core texts just be fine for most of the time (other than when doing essays)? I have stuck to the core texts but added in a few of the additional texts.

I'm finally getting into the swing of things at uni. Adapting to a work load for 4 subjects ( ) has been hard going. I fucking hate Geography with a passion although the next few lectures are on Singapore and I love Singapore as a city and know a bit about it - so I'm sorted for that. Got a Geography essay for end of November, but I'm not worried about that yet. History is great. Finlay seemed like a king for the only lecture he has done. Patricia Barton's lectures are dry and boring. Thankfully I have a dictaphone which means I get a wee snooze during the lecture. The guy I have for tutorials (Dr Johnson) is good, seems like he could be a hero. Politics is interesting. Professor Mitchell whilst getting a bit over-excited at times, is really good. Thon Greek guy seems decent enough. Haven't had a tutorial yet. HRM is good. The lecturer is good, and the course is interesting so far. I like the tutorial arrangment of one every fortnight. The volume of reading I have had to do is astounding.
