  1. Hit it until it works. The only way to deal with technological problems.
  2. People who just take a book from the library shelf without taking it on loan. I mean there is a 3 hour loan for Christ sake, do that instead of making me wander about after being told that the book was still on the shelf. b*****ds, absolute b*****ds.
  3. I read that as the "rapey balding one" Aye I have the rapidly balding one with the shameful 4 strands of hair slicked back. He has a horrendous taste in jumpers.
  4. You absolute beauty. This means a month home at Christmas time I don't mind HRM Bullywee, I just don't like my lecturer.
  5. Will I have any exams during January at uni, in first year? I know I definitely don't in HRM and Politics, but I'm not sure about History.
  6. I was told for History/Politics that is was 10% initially. However my History tutor is marking my essay for History and he is allowing us to go over by another 700 words max He doesn't believe in marking us down for going over word limits.
  7. Pack Up - Eliza Doolittle. I thought until today, that this song and her other one ("Skinny Jeans"?) were the same song I had to YouTube it because curiosity got the better of me. BTW, she has cracking pins.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY0_oVV29PM Maximum choonage. No matter what anyone says.
  9. Not for me I have never had to call in the Tactical Chunderstrike. The black out is though
  10. When unable to sleep the other night, I watched "Insomnia". However before I had even clicked the play button, was sound asleep. To give me a break from my essay work today, I decided to give it a watch. I was gripped by this film - the storyline/plot is exceptional. It seemed to me like it was your typical "cat and mouse" killer vs detective film, but with the twist of the roles being reversed in places. I fought the temptation to pause the film and go for a slash on a couple of occasions, because I wanted to see what happened next immediately. Al Pacino was very good in it, whilst Robin Williams has got the sinister social recluse role down to a very fine tee (see "One hour Photo" and this, then see how well he does it). Hilary Swank was decent enough in it, and seeing the conflict she struggles with as the film goes on is captivating. The ending was poor I thought*, despite what looked like so many different possible endings as the film end approached. I am aware that it is a remake so perhaps that criticism should be directed at the original. It was going for a 9/10 until the ending. But the ending means it drops down to a respectable 8/10. I thought that the music played an important part in the film - it set the scene in a great fashion throughout the film. Something I have noticed in a few Christopher Nolan films ("Inception" and both "Batman" films). *
  11. I almost had that the other day. I was returning from crashing at a mates flat over at the Glasgow Uni campus. It was 8am and I didn't want to miss my lecture with Finlay (who would?), so I got on the subway still a tad drunk. As the subway pulled out of Hillhead station, I felt the movement in the stomach and the funny feeling in the cheeks that I was going to throw up. "I can't throw up here" I thought "It would be a disaster", so I quickly drank some ice cool water and the feeling went. That's the closest I have been. I will fight it in the subway, I will fight it in the bathroom, I will fight it in the street, but I will never chunder.
  12. I have never thrown up / whitied / chundered (delete as appropriate) in my life through drink. That is what I call an impressive track record. Sure I have felt like I was going to, but I never committed the act. I don't intend letting my 100% streak ending.
  13. I thought the scene when Mr. Blonde is dancing to "Stuck In The Middle With You" was hilarious (that doesn't sound fucked up at all ) , and probably my favourite scene in the whole film.
  14. I thought he was poor in "Titanic". However he didn't exactly have a great script to work from. I just watched "Reservoir Dogs". A film everyone seems to have seen, but one I had not. I haven't seen any Tarantino films other than this (mainly because I don't like the look of most of them other than "Pulp Fiction"). I thought it was outstanding. That is all I really have to say about it. There isn't a weak part of the film, nor a weak actor in it, just really, really great stuff. 10/10.
  15. Much to learn you still have. Stick with me and I'll keep you right.
  16. I haven't seen all his films but other than "Titanic" he has been superb. I thought he was good in "Romeo+Juliet" (had to watch it in Higher English, and I didn't like the film but I thought he was good), he was very good in 'Gangs of New York", "The Aviator" and "Catch Me If You Can", and he was brilliant in "The Departed", "Blood Diamond", "Shutter Island" and "Inception". I haven't seen "The Beach" (thought I had but obviously not), "Body Of Lies" (apparently he is good in that) or "Revolutionary Road" (apparently he is decent in this). Not many actors can hold such a high standard over a number of films but he has.
  17. I agree with this. Although I'm trying to like it - I feel like I am missing out Strongbow is the devil's piss but yet again, I'll drink it although I do prefer Bulmers/Magners. My new sociable drink is whiskey and coke. Or just whiskey. Expensive though, which is unfortunate. So yeah, I'm a cider man rather than a beer man. Although I just get lost between the difference between beer and lager - I must say though that Singha/Cobra/Tiger and a bit of lime/lemon in it, is cracking. Fosters is nice. Anything else is horrible (I haven't tried Sol/Konnanberg (sp?) though, apparently it is quite good). This may appear a bit incoherent but that is because I am tired but can't get to sleep. Fucking History essay work for a couple of hours has kept me awake and even though I stopped 2/3 hours ago, I can't get to sleep. Time for another film. I'm going to watch "Insomnia" (ironically enough).
  18. Just finished watching "The Departed". I had high hopes for this film, mainly because it is a Scorsese film, and also because on the cover of the box it says it is Scorsese's "finest film since 'Goodfellas' ". I was not disappointed, I thought it was utterly brilliant. Jack Nicholson was terrific (yet again) and Leonardo DiCaprio* shows that he is one of the finest actors around at the moment*, he is superb. Even Matt Damon who I hate as an actor did a good turn in this film. Scorsese is one of the best directors ever IMO, definitely in my top 5. A thrilling and gripping storyline along with some great acting makes me give this film a 9/10 verging on a 10/10. Fantastic stuff. * I'm surprised that some people laugh when I suggest he is one of the best actors around at the moment. Just ignore "Titanic" and then these people might see it.
  19. Fucking hell. I read what it was about on that wiki link. I had heard about it bit kind of ignored it, I knew it was a horror film so I don't take any interest in them. But fucking hell, that is an extremely perverse film. The only word I can use to describe it is horrible - and that is only based on what I just read. I know it is only a film but Jesus that's sick - perhaps even more sick than that Human Centipede idea.
  20. I have the elegance of an Bambi having an epileptic fit whilst walking on ice when I play football. I wouldn't say I'm shite though. I'm mediocre (in relative terms obviously, not in the world of football terms) . I have seen a number of people worse than me but also a number of people better than me.
  21. I don't particularly agree with Cameron or the Conservatives but I am very good at playing the devil's advocate in arguments so I will be able to have fun with the arguments of others. Although we do have a Conservative girl in my tutorial who decided to tell us that "there are a lot of stupid people in Scotland who don't vote Tory because of Thatcher". When asked to lose the blue-tinted specs and look at it from both points of view by my fine self, she decided to go for the "it's my ball and I'm no playing anymore" approach by telling me that she couldn't look at it because she wasn't living during that time period. In all honesty I am quite looking forward to a bit of debate. Our next tutorial is on "Power" and I think the discussion in that will be quite entertaining interesting.
  22. I noticed that within one tutorial Somehow we got onto the subject of sectarianism Person 1: "Sectarianism is the biggest problem to society in Glasgow." Me: "It's not really that big a problem. It's confined to a minority of people and in the grand scheme of things it isn't that problematic." Person 1: "You aren't from Glasgow so hoe can you possibly comment on sectarianism? Do you even know who Ranger and Celtic are?" Me: *facepalm*
  23. Could be a shout. I might just go and book a ticket.
  24. I played my first game of 5-a-side in the uni league tonight. 9 teams in the league, 8 games, a game every week. We lost 6-5 to a team of 4th year students. Not a bad result but frustrating to lose a goal with a minute to go. Yours truly scored to make it 5-5 after we had been 4-1 down (I did almost miss but the ball dipped beautifully into the top corner of an empty goal). I don't think they quite expected to have a tough game, they were quite pissed off with each other when we made it 5-5. I can't believe I lasted the whole game after gashing open my knee within 30 seconds (apparently once the ball has gone, a hulking object smashing you into a brick wall isn't a foul. Who knew?). Then within 5 minutes I twisted my knee delightfully - it is now the size of a grapefruit. I carried on valiantly though. My first game of 5s in a couple of years so I lasted the 45 minute game quite well, even with my injury. Encouraging signs. Even if it was a bit strange playing alongside somebody who was wearing a Huntly top.
