  1. Think the weekend worked out well in the end. Not sure we’ve got the mentality to be league leaders. Much better chasing. Stay a point behind United from now until May and then overtake them on the last day. Job done.
  2. Already got the dread about this one. Pars have improved lately and surely can’t lose to us 5 times in one season?
  3. Not a bad result in the end. Keeps Thistle at a distance. United play Morton on Tuesday night before we play again so could be 4 adrift or just a point behind with a game in hand. Who knows.
  4. This is pretty much spot on. Keep our attacking options and strengthen the defence for next season. With a better mentality and less tinkering week to week.
  5. We were probably never going to win the league with our back line. The Ashcroft injury is a huge blow as he might have added some quality and stability in there, but the rest just aren’t strong enough. The fact we’ve conceded more goals than the teams in 8th/9th says it all. You can blame systems or players further up but a lot of it is on the quality of the defense. At this stage of his career Watson was always going to be hard to keep fit for consistent periods so even though he’s solid when playing the length of time he’s been out makes him a poor signing. Murray also wouldn’t feature in a Championship best centre half’s list. And Millen/J Brown/Dick are pretty bang average too. Big Kev has been brilliant at times and a car crash at others. The reality is that we had an incredible first half of the season which has put us in an incredible position. Since Tannadice we’ve reverted to what we probably all expected at the start of the season - an average or slightly above average Championship team. Hard to get too annoyed about that. It’s only the raised expectations from the first half of the season that’s making things feel much worse.
  6. Constant changes in the line up is killing us. No consistency, no chance to build understanding. It’s just shuffle the deck every week and hope for the best. Dropping Stanton was madness. Also, being unable to keep the same back four fit is an absolute killer when you’ve got Kev in goals. Wouldn’t have any confidence getting through the play-offs with our defensive record.
  7. Anyone know what the incident at full time was about? Came out of the ground to see a guy punched out on the road. Was he a Rovers fan?
  8. Maybe it was the journey home but can’t find the energy to be fizzing. It’s just so typical Rovers that it’s actually slightly comical. Nice to know that even with all these marquee signings our ‘start you believing then crash you back down to earth’ DNA is still intact. Bizarrely the title race is still alive even if United win tomorrow. Although, if United can’t get the better of this Rovers team between now and the end of the season then they should probably be relegated to League One.
  9. Anyone expecting a bucketload against Arbroath is a fool. We don’t win by a bucket load and teams very rarely get humped two games in a row. Would take a one goal win right now.
  10. Tempting to feel some regret, particularly at dropping soft points at home. In the last six home games in the league we’ve dropped points against Morton (2), Inverness (3), Queens Park (3), Arbroath (2) and Ayr (2). Even just a few of those converted into a win or draw and we’d have a nice gap over United. But the reality is this is Raith Rovers in the Championship we are talking about. We aren’t going to win every single game so just thankful that United haven’t gone on a run either or it’d be over. We still have an outside chance so here for it as long as that lasts. Same goes for play-offs. If we do end up in the play offs wouldn’t be over confident about beating any of Partick, Morton, Airdrie or Ayr comfortably. Will be an absolute battle.
  11. Forgettable game. Amazed that no one was sent off really. Clean sheet and United defeat made it a good night. Does show that United aren’t going to canter to the title, so we may as well have a right good go. Hopefully beat Arbroath Friday to put a bit of pressure on them.
  12. Mixing up the line up a bit. With Ashcroft out then that defence is as good as we could have expected. Let’s us have Brown in midfield at least. Strong bench if we’re struggling.
  13. Pretty much all ST holders except for a handful of miserable c***s will understand what the Board is trying to do for a midweek match on a school night. It’s a few quid and it’s not as if a season ticket this season hasn’t been great value. The season could stop now and I’d have got my moneys worth.
  14. This is a bit unfair. There’s a certain sense of satisfaction to be derived from a stiff shite.
  15. This was closer to my memory of it. We were outplayed most of the first hour and lucky to be level. We did far better as the game went on and were pushing forward much more. That was when the sending off happened it was one way traffic to the end. Great game.
  16. If Millen is genuinely out the door, then his wage will pay for Brown and the takings from a full Stark’s Park on Friday would cover a fair chunk of Ashcroft’s wage I reckon. Cheers United.
  17. Is today Lee Ashcroft day? if we are going in to the run-in with a settled back four of Dick, Ashcroft, Brown and one of Murray/Watson then that’s night and day from where we were a few weeks ago. Well played Board.
  18. This is the way to go. And to be fair to the BOD this is what they tried at the start of this season, probably just made the wrong call with the Railway Stand but that’s easy to say with hindsight. Think other clubs were it works the young team has more of an identity. They have a name and seem to be organised, have banners and the like. Don’t think it’s that organised at RRFC.
  19. The home atmosphere is not a patch on away games but it’s the same at every club. More moaners at home games. Being up the back should help but a flat performance tomorrow and it could go quiet like it did against Airdrie.
  20. This push for a Singing section feels like a bit of a distraction. No one was complaining about the atmosphere when winning earlier in the season. If the performance is there on the pitch the atmosphere at Stark’s is fine. It’ll be the same tomorrow night. If we do well whole stand will be bouncing, if we don’t then the singing section will probably be as quiet as it was against Airdrie.
  21. If Ashcroft is a potential loan then would hope that the Directors would dip into their pocket to bring him here. The back line we have at the moment remains weak even if everyone is fit.
  22. Wasn’t suggesting it was their choice, more a mistake was allowed to happen which is the poor management. Yeah, Raith Rovers seem to always find a way to shoot ourselves in the foot.
  23. Millen being released not really a stretch, so maybe it is true. Poor management to let the players find out though.
