  1. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/steven-caulker-set-offered-celtic-10791374 Looks like we are interested in Steven Caulker, who Brendan worked with at Swansea. He's a good defender (but not so good substitute striker) and is looking for a fresh start after some off-field problems.
  2. GMS out, he's signed a two year deal with Aberdeen http://www.afc.co.uk/news/9793.php#.WWZcN9LyuUk http://www.celticfc.net/news/12904
  3. I wish GMS all the best at Aberdeen. He's a decent player, good pace with some trickery but struggled with consistency in the final third. Hopefully he can rediscover some of his old form at Aberdeen.
  4. Welcome to Paradise Olivier! He looks a tidy prospect, French International at all youth levels plus 41 appearances in Serie A with Genoa. If there was any manager in British football who can take a young player to the next level it's Brendan Rodgers.
  5. Got my threads mixed up, but I'm currently drinking coffee, because if I am mixing up threads I clearly need more of it
  6. As a Celtic fan I can agree to this assessment. He has a lot of pace and enthusiasm but his end product is actually pretty poor. In most of the games he played last season he developed a habit of losing the ball, making a poor pass, or missing the target in the opposition box, just really poor end product after a good build-up. The problem will be his wages as I'm sure Celtic and Aberdeen would be will be willing to agree to a fee Aberdeen could afford but I suspect that he (like a few players Celtic have signed in recent years) is on a wage that us much higher than his actual ability and is probably the most he will ever earn in football.
  7. Oh in case you weren't paying attention (it appears not too many people, if anybody in the Scottish media was), Royal Excel Mouscron confirmed the signing of goalie Logan Bailly from Celtic on Sunday.
  8. Brown can do all of the things Biton can do, usually better and young Kouassi is being developed as Broony's long term replacement. Plus we don't know how Ntcham will fit into the equation (assuming the deal gets over the line) so he may also be able to fill that role. I just don't see a need to keep Biton if we sign Ntcham, it's not trying to knock Biton but he doesn't fit into Celtic's week in/week out game plans.
  9. Missus is away for a few days on business so I made myself a refined bachelor's supper of a juicy pepper steak, potatoes and a wee dram of Te Behag whisky.
  10. He is that, I agree, but he's too slow for the Brendan Rodgers style. He is much better suited to a different tactical style than the flowing and quick Brendan Rodgers game. It's similar to when Rodgers signed Christian Benteke for Liverpool, a player who is very good at what he does, but what he does doesn't jive with the playing style.
  11. Agreed. Another possibility is that Nir Biton leaves. His game slowing/deep lying style doesn't really jive with Brendan's high temp/high press style so he's fallen down the pecking order.
  12. Although he did do decently well for Aberdeen, 6 goals in 13 appearances on loan in 2015-16. Apart from that his goal record is not great.
  13. Simon Church? The former Reading striker who spent some time on loan at Aberdeen a couple of years ago, or Simon Murray, the guy Hibs just signed?
  14. I remember watching Soccer Saturday a few years ago and Cattermole got sent off for something stupid. Alan McInally said he must have Papier Mache for brains, which is probably the best description of Cattermole I have ever heard.
  15. If we smoke Linfield Friday night I hope big Ajer gets a start in the second leg. Also a quick glance at the rumour mill shows me that apparently Moussa Dembele is not going to sign for a top EPL team, he's going to Marseille. Edit: also we are linked to 18 year old Chelsea CB Kyle Jameson
  16. Lol! The best part of the article is the pictures of Pedro they chose with bewildered facial expressions in between the ridiculous expectation of a title.
  17. I think McGregor will still have a part to play. We will probably see Henderson and Kouassi go out on loan though
  18. That becomes the problem with bringing in too many average players, you get stuck with guys like Ciftci, Allan, etc... on long contracts for probably the biggest wage of their career. Celtic have managed to keep it relatively under control but Sevco have a massive problem because nobody is going to pay all of those pish players anywhere close to what they are paying them.
  19. So apparently Olivier Ntcham is having a medical at Celtic? http://www.mcfcwatch.com/2017/07/08/manchester-city-midfielder-olivier-ntcham-undergoes-celtic-medical-ahead-of-4m-move-report/ This is the first I am hearing of him being linked (if this is true), so either Celtic are really good at keeping things under wraps, the Scottish media is completely clueless, or both
  20. Sinclair x2 Armstrong x2 Dembele, Lustig, Forrest, Hayes, and just now Rogic for 9-0
  21. That would be fine, although it would be nice to get 4 or 5 with the A team so that Brendan can give some of the youngsters like Ralston, Ajer, Aitchison et al. some game time in the second leg edit: 8-0
  22. Oh for sure, but it's nice to see Celtic playing so well against a team in a higher ranked league than our European opponents.
  23. Hopefully Linfield are shitting their pants at this news
