  1. That’s David Gray managed to put out the 2 worst Hibs teams of the season this week, and by quite a distance as well. Hopefully the next manager ditches him from the coaching side as he clearly has no idea. A random 12 year old could pick a better team than that.
  2. He was signed for the development team. I actually think he looked alright the couple of times he came off the bench earlier in the season though. That team is making me happy with my decision not to go today. Gray’s 352 is actually worse than anything Maloney played and that’s saying something
  3. Cocu would be brilliant. The best option I’ve seen mentioned by far. The fact that there’s actually some Hibs fans saying they wouldn’t take someone who won 3 titles in 4 years at PSV who haven’t won a league in the 4 years since is crazy. When you see the state Derby were in hindsight whilst he was there he actually didn’t do a bad job there either.
  4. Of the bookies list, Knutsen and Deila are the only two that don’t have me already wanting to gouge my eyes out. Sadly I doubt there’d be any chance of either entertaining us. Maybe Deila would see it as a way back in to Europe but I imagine he could find better jobs off the back of winning the MLS. There’s nobody involved in Scottish football (that we can get) that would be any better than what we’ve already had this season. Ignoring the fact he’s a racist, the fact Malky MacKay is being mentioned so much after 6 months of being decent at Ross County says everything about how bad the current Scottish football options are.
  5. In the nicest way possible, you’ve clearly not watched half of the players you’re suggesting should be picked this season. Either that or you want us to get relegated. Daz has cost us in pretty much every game he’s played this season, including 2 embarrassing red cards for a guy with so much experience, one of which saw us knocked out of Europe. Doidge has struggled since coming back from injury, he’s been given a decent number of chances and hasn’t really done anything at all, maybe he’ll be able to recover with a decent pre season but who knows. Scott Allan has had one start all season where he’s been any good (United away in the cup) and even then he was gubbed by half time. Sadly the best he can offer is a decent 20 minutes off the bench if we’re lucky. I’m not really sure there are many at the club or who have been at the club this season that are blameless for where the squad is right now. As much as the club tried to help Maloney with signings in Jan he’s ended up with a worse squad due to Boyle going and injuries so I think he needs to be a given a chance to get a squad together in the summer, with the caveat that he’ll need to get off to a really good start.
  6. Good draw, England were one of the best options in pot 1 as we’re more likely to do something against them, USA are terrible but Iran are probably the best of the Asian teams so they’ll not be easy for anyone.
  7. If UEFA juggle multiple Nations League Groups around already in June, there wouldn’t be a hope of Ukraine getting a time for the game to be played later in the year if they ask again. IMO it should be quite clearly stated when this is all officially announced that these new dates are final and if Ukraine are still unable to play then we progress to the final.
  8. Not really. The only realistic option would be the already large international break in June being extended for the 4 teams in our playoff section by an extra week to fit the games in. If that’s in any way possible I think they’ll try that. I think Ukraine might end up being told there’s nothing that can be done though
  9. What’s the capacity of the away end at the minute with the changing room taking away that section in the corner? If it’s less than 4k I think we’d sell that no problem at these prices
  10. Surely just put the Dundee v Rangers game down for Saturday with it being moved to Monday night if Rangers go through in Europe. Allows everyone else to get proper notice instead of 10 days and there’s no chance Rangers are beating Dortmund anyway.
  11. I find it a bit frustrating when people say this as if it doesn’t happen in almost every league of our size in Europe. It’s even creeping in to the top 5 leagues in recent years. Almost every league below the top 5 in Europe is dominated by a select group of bigger clubs, however it’s normally maybe 3 regular winners as opposed to our 2. If we got rid of Celtic and Rangers then eventually Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen would be those 3 clubs here with possibly someone else managing to nick it every 15/20 years. People seem to hold Scottish football to unrealistic expectations and then can’t wait to put it down, no wonder the likes of sky think so little of our league when that’s the way our fans think of it.
  12. If we can muster up a performance with the same effort and energy levels as the derby then I’d go for yet another nearly result against Rangers that probably involves a dodgy decision. If the Hibs team of the last 2 Saturdays turn up ready to gift goals away then it’ll be a long night. No matter how well we play, the only way we’ll score is if Alan McGregor throws one in the net.
  13. If you’d finished 5th and St Johnstone had been bottom 6 but still won the cup you weren’t qualifying for Europe so no need to worry. Because there would be more meaningless games. The sides most likely to be in the top 6 get derbies and games against the other big teams which pull in bigger crowds, as well as the games just before the split that might attract a bigger crowd than normal. Teams in the bottom half have big games against each other and there’s usually at least 3/4 teams involved until late on with the addition of the playoff now. From a Hibs point of view if we were mid table in an 18 team league then the last 2 months of the season playing nothing games against the likes of Ayr and Partick Thistle would be boring and I’d probably find something better to do with my weekends.
  14. An 18 team league would be awful and would almost certainly see pretty much every team getting smaller crowds unless there was a stupidly large amount of teams getting relegated. The only possible change that wouldn’t make the league worse would be 14 teams with an 8/6 split and more relegation - maybe something like 2 down automatically and a third via playoffs.
  15. Melkersen is here for the first team. He’s effectively about 2 weeks in to pre season so it’s hardly surprising he’s not featured yet. I’d be surprised if he’s not been in the squad by the Arbroath game. That coupled with Clarke and now Magennis picking up injuries in bounce games has just taken the shine off of what was a pretty decent window overall
  16. I don’t think that makes a difference, in the last 2 seasons 5 of our 6 ties before the semis have been on the BBC and the only one that wasn’t was on Premier
  17. We’re at Ibrox on the Wednesday night before this one so should be the Saturday/Sunday. Half 5 on the Saturday would be glorious but I imagine Premier will take that slot
  18. I have no idea how good he would be or otherwise but this is a position we need cover in quite desperately. At the moment with Clarke out we’ve only got Doig and Cadden capable of playing wingback and it’s almost the most important position the way Maloney plays.
  19. If they actually believe that then they must watch games with their eyes shut. I think he’s a great striker and seems to get a hard time in the media up here because he took a few months to get going properly. He’s good in the air and pretty good with it at his feet too. A lot of his goals get passed of as lucky or flukes but they’re almost always down to him getting himself into the right area in the box for a rebound etc. He’d be a big player for anyone outside of the old firm up here and if we were letting him go it would be back down south for money, not on loan to Dundee.
  20. That’s not strictly true tbf to Ross. He spent every interview of the entire summer transfer window saying we needed a centre half. How well we’ve done so far this window just shows how much of a colossal f**k up Mathie made of the summer. We’ve clearly got money yet we’ve spent the first half of the season with gaping holes in the squad
  21. Lennon’s Championship team was probably the most boring Hibs side I’ve seen, ironically the people who suggest having him back spend their time moaning about how bad we are to watch under Ross. Since the start of last season, when we turn up we’ve played some really good football and are great to watch. Obviously we’ve had some high profile games where that’s not happened but I think there’s plenty of folk desperate for him to do badly for whatever reason and the whole thing about us playing rubbish football is just the first thing they can think of as an excuse - as I said above the same people often suggest Lennon or even Derek McInnes as replacements which is laughable. I do think JR could be in a bit of trouble if we don’t pick up at least 7 points before the final but can’t help but think he’ll get the January transfer window no matter what as the club seem to have admitted they let him down in the summer
  22. We’ve been playing much better in the last couple of weeks, if we play the way we did at St Johnstone last week I think we could win quite comfortably. Motherwell fans can correct me if I’m wrong but all of your best performances from what I’ve seen have been at home so more chance of you not turning up away? I’d have Doidge in from the start as Motherwell will try and turn it into a battle
  23. Where are people getting that Ukraine are good from? They drew away in Kazakhstan 2 months ago and lost to Austria at the Euros. We’ll be favourites to beat them. Wales v Austria is up there with as good a draw as we could’ve had, only disappointment in the entire draw is being away second leg.
  24. The annoying thing about the chat of us getting 50/50 as a starting point and then being able to work it back for a final is that it would almost certainly mean we’d be forced to leave the best seats(North Stand) to last to sell. Hibs should be getting half the ground for a final against anyone with no maybes around how much we’d sell etc. The evidence shows that we’ll always sell half the ground.
  25. Until the last 4 years or so Celtic would regularly play out semi finals to a half empty Hampden. But then 30k plus would turn up to the final. It happens with every team, if there was a realistic chance that we’d not sell the 22k for a 50/50 split then I could understand it but there’s no evidence to back that up.
