I hear that Rovers board are very much against this, and quite rightly so!

I could be persuaded that 18 teams is the right amount for the LL but obviously the extra teams should be promoted in the correct manner.

Especially if it meant the EOS and WOS champions getting automatic promotion each season.

  2. Before tonight we were on 4.000 for the season, great week of results to get to 6.200 - and there was certainly points dropped over the campaign by all three sides.

Looks like we'll finish at least 11th as the Swiss are unlikely to catch us (impossible for Austria or Denmark even if their clubs won all games), but the Czechs taking advantage of only have 4 clubs with 3 of them still in Europe.

As we have the largest score for 19/20 outside the top 7, that drops off next season so we'll be in a big fight top 15, at least this week's points brings us much closer to 11th.

Aberdeen's 5.5 club points is the largest for anyone outwith Celtic and Rangers since they score 6.0 in 2007/08, will be useful for them to help with seeding should they get into Europe next season. Celtic keep their 57th / 32.000 while Rangers move up 5 to 26th with 62.000.

I said at the time, the directors then were in far too much of a hurry, to rush us back to the old Meadowbank site before construction of the leisure centre was even finished, and Should have waited another year or two until we had a decent venue ready and in place.

Well it's a year and a half since you moved back to Meadowbank so surely it should've been a lot longer than that. That's assuming Meadowbank could ever be a decent venue? As soon as the plans came out it was obviously not going to be suitable.

  4. No Beith thread but they've applied for planning permission for floodlights (only 200lux with one at each corner but enough for entry level), so if everything else has been sorted in the meantime it could mean a licence in the spring.

Ground ownership issue not actually sorted as no more information can be found about the trust that was wound up, but seems like they can go ahead anyway.

  5. Leith not happy their SRCC game is two days before Christmas, though with the next round on 3rd February and Threave playing on 20th January one of Threave's league games would have to make way.

Leith Athletic are disappointed that the rearranged tie in the South Challenge Cup has been rescheduled for Saturday 23/12/23 at 2pm. The tie is away to Threave Rovers who play in Castle Douglas, Dumfries.

When I got the email from the Challenge Cup secretary nearly two weeks ago I queried this immediately.

The 23/12/23 is a designated free week in East of Scotland football and has been since the fixtures were announced in the summer.

Our players have family plans, holidays and most have just finished work the day before so many have Christmas work nights out organised .

I also noted to the secretary that there are two other rescheduled 4th round ties and they are both scheduled for 20/1/24 – one of the ties is just 15 miles apart ….

I asked for an explanation why we are being asked to travel on a free week for over 3 hours on 23/12/23 when a tie 15 miles apart is cast on 20/1/24 .

I am frustrated and angry to write we have not had the courtesy of any explanation. I have requested this several times in the last few days .

We have worked very hard on the pitch to get to this round and cost us a good sum financially but we will be playing this game without a full squad for no real reason. The club, our players and supporters deserve so much better.

Kick off set by league as 1:30 I don't see any valid reason to move any kick off to suits a game out of our league.

Other leagues keep the same kick-off time throughout the season for clubs with floodlights, which for fans is good - and if you normally play at 2pm then starting at 2.30 or 3 isn't that much of a change versus the extra fans you might get.

Kilmarnock are also at home on the 30th so a Friday night game would avoid that as well. Though of course the opposition need to agree.

Beith are never given a home midweek winter game, we have.  If they can’t host a midweek winter game dock them points.  Don’t give the same teams home midweek games losing them a Saturday fixture when others are maximising their gate by not losing a home weekend game.

surely you see that as unfair? Surely then it would be better for us to say lights aren’t working we can’t host a mid week game

No doubt you'd also be complaining if a fixture pile-up for Beith meant their home game against you had to be played on the first available midweek date in April at 6.15pm or something (can't be good for either their gate or players getting to the game).

There can be obvious offsides but in general a linesman’s job is impossible.  He needs to see when the centre back launches the ball and at the same time see the two attackers 30 yards up the field on the shoulders of their markers and determine which of the two is attempting to play the ball.  So essentially he needs split second vision of 3 different events on the field.  Impossible.

On the Premier League ref mic audio you can hear someone say "now" or similar when the ball is kicked which presumably is there to help the assistant keep an eye on the line.

I’ve never understood the “murderers and beasts running around yet they focus on x,y and z” line trotted out by folk

Were there any murders on Thursday night reported that these two coppers should’ve been looking into instead? (Other than Rangers Europa league hopes)

It's also ironic as a number of those types of criminals have been caught due to traffic stops. Whenever the police post about stopping cars for something minor there's always some in their list of offences that include no insurance, no licence, drink/drug driving or outstanding warrants.

  10. Lochee beating Largs on penalties in the only game to go ahead in the last 16, rest will be played next week or the week after.

Draw for the QFs. If things go to form it'll be all WOS Premier semi-finals, though Lochee and Johnstone Burgh if they get through will be looking to change that.

Pyramid news is the best website for 'junior' football and has been for many years now. There's no need for shite talk about whoever runs it.

Guessing you found the login for your other account to come back 12 months later and tell us how great the site is.

One of the ‘what if’ scenario possibilities seems to be including Dunbar & Broxburn. Both putting on very good displays and perhaps on another day, who knows?

But if both had gone into the pot for round four their ball numbers would have resulted in -

    DUFC vs Rangers

    Celtic vs Broxburn

Not bad for two clubs in tier 6 of the Scottish game.

Not quite - if both had gone into the draw then it would've been Broxburn v Dumbarton.

Notice the East was a lot better at getting their act together although it was funny at the time reading the EOSFL forum and them all getting the paper work mixed up. All schoolboy stuff putting the wrong team names on each others forms. Hey ho they all got licence.

You're going to need to provide more details because the only thing I remember seeing about that was one or two that basically had the same supporting statement in their floodlight planning permissions.

  14. 6 mins in the video.

Think you've been Craig Napier'd there. IMO there's enough doubt, by the time he regains control of the ball the goal scoring opportunity is going to be at the apex of the 6 yard box with a defender close by and another defender in the middle of the goals. Depending on what he says VAR would probably have recommended a review there especially from a different camera angle.

St Andrews unless they have massive East Pyramid aims must surely be tempted by 15 mile trips over the Tay and derby with Tayport rather than 120 mile trips to the Borders?

They are in the running for promotion to the EOS Premier, which is obviously a higher standard than the Midlands. They have one trip to the Borders this season and that will be gone whether they get promoted or not.

  16. So the clubs in the last 16 (well, 19) - which if Colts and Threave win their ties would be the exact same LL/EOS/WOS league breakdown as last season...

    Caley Braves, Cowdenbeath, EK, Tranent

    Broxburn

    KRR, Largs, Pollok, Troon

    Kennoway/St Andrews

    Johnstone Burgh, Kilwinning, Rutherglen, Shotts

    + Dunbar/Cumbernauld Colts and Threave/Leith

Draw is on Monday 27th, ties supposed to be on 3rd February.

My concern is that the West Champion - if licenced - will possibly need to wait several weeks between last West game and a play-off.  Thats how its currently scheduled for.  If we finish in March it'll be the earliest we've ever finished. In 2010 we played 26 games after 16th March. Last season we played 16 games after 16th March - finishing on 13th May ( around when EOS us due to finish ). We're currently ahead of many teams and we had a game v Bens brought forward a few weeks ago when neither team requested it and it does seem there is a keenness to get games played ? You didn't really address that implied concern Kennie

There's 8 weeks after your last scheduled game - you have 2 league games outstanding, a cup game if you beat Pollok, likely a weather postponement or two, maybe a free week if your league opponents are in a cup game, etc. - so I doubt you'll be sitting around for weeks.

So while you're here. Why is WSFL due to finish on 16th March ( with majority playing in Junior Cup ) and ESFL due to complete by 11th May ( with no EoS clubs in Junior Cup I think I'm right in saying ). Now no-one actually believes the league will finish on 16th March but that's how it's currently planned. 8 weeks of a difference. Even if we go to end of March to finish league then that's still 6 weeks. With a potential league play off towards end of May, that's potentially quite a wait for West winners. What's reason for this ??

Short answer is the EOS fixtures have 7 blank Saturdays currently, for the Scottish Cup R4, SRCC last 16, two Premier Division reserve dates and three for the EOS League Cup, which doesn't begin until March - when the WOS Cup will be at the QF stage.

Also seems like a difference in philosophy - EOS Kenny stretches fixtures across the season with more gaps to fill (means waiting on cup tie outcomes to arrange fixtures), while WOS Kennie front loads the fixtures but leaves a gap at the end to fill (means more postponements during the season due to cup games).

If you go through the West Premier fixtures week by week in the official website there’s 9 missing.

Maybe need to get the website sorted.

If Beith have an outstanding fixture away to Glenafton who have lights, why isn’t it scheduled?

You're going to need to describe your working - because if I go to wosfl.co.uk, click matches, then count the number of Beith league games in the 6 pages I get 16 (+9 played=5 missing as Kennie says). If you're meaning something else on the website then please say so.

Glenafton, like Beith, are in two cup competitions taking place in the next few weeks which will affect games in December and then when the cups restart in February  - no point in scheduling all the games for the end of March until it gets to mid-December really.
