Not as distracted as they would be by some self appointed vigilante c**t tapping on their window telling them he was going to get them sacked from their job. How safe was it walking along the middle of the road anyway?

Sounds like you need a dictionary. He witnesses a crime and provides the evidence to the police for them to deal with, that's not a vigilante.

Cycling on the pavement IS illegal.

Well done. But you said Mikey was cycling on the pavement when he wasn't, so...

They all do it, they all jump off their bikes to walk through red lights as well.

Once you're off a bike then you're a pedestrian, so no reason why you can't do that to get around red lights.

Proper e-bikes are only peddle assist and motor only kicks in while pedalling, and are as someone said above limited to 15mph and then motor stops, chances are you wont even notice these as e-bikes unless you know what to look for. The bikes you see delivery drivers cutting about on are something different and an absolute pain in the hole.

Those are basically electric motorbikes (though also used by a disabled guy I know). I've tried an actual ebike, obviously heavier and harder to lift/manoeuvre, but once the assist kicks in it was effortless going up hills.

You'll still get done for that

The offence (RTA s30) is being "unfit to ride through drink or drugs (that is to say, is under the influence of drink or a drug to such an extent as to be incapable of having proper control of the cycle)" so unless you're weaving all over the shop, you're unlikely to be noticed by anyone/the Police and not committing an offence.

None whatsover - it's brilliant!  I was just messaging to try to get permission to possibly use it on a programme cover. I never just use graphics or photos etc without the permission of the owner.

It's from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023–24_East_of_Scotland_Football_League so it can be used freely (or maybe with just a credit to Wikipedia).

Could probably be improved for print if you want, especially the labels if they were changed to black and bold.

Oh dear, it seems you can't criticise cyclists. At least not as a pedestrian in my experience. They don't seem to like it when you adopt the same tactics back at them as the video guy there.

Feel free to criticise cyclists all you want, just make sure you criticise them for doing something that is actually illegal though.

What a horrible c**t Mickey is, revelling in getting someone sacked for checking their phone in a stationary vehicle, about the safest manoeuvre possible in a motor vehicle.

The video I posted shows the driver holding his phone whilst moving in the queue of traffic. Even if he was stationary you can bet he uses the phone at other times as well, and drivers can be distracted for a while after putting their phone down.

If you rely on your driving licence for work you should probably avoid doing illegal things that might result in you losing your licence. Or even getting 6 points in London which means losing your taxi licence.

So what do the rozzers do about it?

Same thing they do about cars on the pavement, f**k all.

Cheers, have you seen anything of when the first draw would be?

No, but going by previous seasons it'll be about 3 weeks before the opening round, so likely sometime next week? And presumably they'll do both prelim rounds together.

I've seen a few of his videos, he spends his days hiding round corners and behind obstacles to catch people on their phone whilst in stationary traffic.

Don't know what videos you've been watching, as a lot of the time he catches people on West Carriage Drive (hint - nowhere to hide there). Only ones where he's hiding is at Gandalf corner when people are going on the wrong side of the road to take a dangerous shortcut.

I notice he appears to cycle on the pavement at the start of the video contrary to Road Traffic law

Not so law abiding are you Mr Holier-than-thou Cycling Mikey, you law breaking cnut

Appears you need to go to Specsavers, you can tell from the camera movement that he's walking and his bike's wheel appears on his right when he first speaks to the driver (just like in his most recent video below).

We'll see what happens with the EOSFL fixture list, Camelon will get a bye in round 1 but if they have a league fixture on the round 2 date then they may well have to forfeit like Syngenta did last season. Unless the EOS fixture secretary gives them a free Saturday (on what was an international derby weekend last season) it would require either league or cup opponents to agree to moving one of the fixtures.

When is the second round of this cup meant to be played? 23rd September and 7 October are free in the Midlands League fixtures, presumably the latter as the former is the Scottish Cup first round date.

Camelon and Armadale are EOS clubs with league fixtures on the 7th so would be relying on either their cup or league opposition to agree to a date change. At least Bathgate/West Calder and Stoneyburn/Pumpherston are playing each other on that date.

Much longer than if they ran their league like a pyramid league should be ran. i.e. at least two up, two down

Thanks Captain Obvious. Hopefully that happens soon given the changes in membership since the previous votes against increased promotion/relegation.

  8. 13 hours ago, pheasant plucker said:

The pyramid rehash was undoubtedly going to take time for levels to sort themselves out. The WOSFL divisions all seem to have worked ok and gradually working out, although you could argue that little has changed for many apart from the introduction of some strange new cup tournaments. The Premier Division in particular seems to have become more competitive evidenced by match results harder to forecast.
The negatives that loom up almost unanimously in talking to fans at our level are the is the loss of a much loved Scottish Cup tournament for our level and for those in the top division the total lack of enthusiasm over the prospect of ‘going up’ to play in the Lowland League.

Not sure how these new cups are "strange" - the League Cup is the same as the former West of Scotland Junior Cup for all west clubs, Strathclyde Cup gives those otherwise idle on Junior Cup matchdays a Scottish Cup route, and then you have the South Challenge Cup which shouldn't be that alien given the east clubs are also involved like the Junior Cup pre-2018.

I get the impression that it's viewed by most as something that has to be endured to get to League Two if you want to move up (and hopefully not for very long). It could also be  nightmare scenario actually being stuck there as a mid table side for a length of time with the current selection of teams.

Of course the West League hasn't really helped the division become more attractive by failing to provide a single team to it so far for one reason or another but hopefully that changes soon.

I mean if you are stuck in the LL for a length of time, then given there is at least one team is changing each season it won't be with the current selection of teams for long will it...

Stroll not getting penalised for going outside the track limits to complete the pass........somebody make it make sense after last week's fiasco.

Think the ruling was fairly consistent with other incidents this season, we've seen drivers on the inside penalised for not leaving enough space for drivers who are fully alongside on the outside - in this case Stroll wasn't left enough space on corner exit so he was let off with going outside the line.

Are we going to get track invaders this British GP?

Odds on Just stop oil protesters to invade and block the track at some point during the weekend?

They don't need to block the track though, just getting trackside during a session like they did on lap 1 last year would be enough to cause an interruption.

Last year there was a first corner smash that red-flagged the race. Had that not happened, the cars would have come battering round the circuit and turned the protesters into hamburgers. Maybe this year they'll do it.

I saw an article on their sentencing earlier this year, so I bookmarked the above footage that I hadn't seen before which shows them coming onto the track from the FOM cameras. If it doesn't embed: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8i72ec

The race was red flagged around 10 seconds before the leader even got near them, and they weren't exactly in a hurry to get in the way of cars. So I'm guessing their intention was to jump the fence onto the live track once the cars had passed at racing speed on lap 1, forcing the race to be stopped by race control before they came round again.

Unfortunately for them, Russell and Zhou had other ideas.

It would be better to have a premier non league tournament with the prestige, fan engagement and prize money as Junior Cup but with all tier 6 teams and also Lowland League & Highland League (😂😂) involved too but unfortunately it won't happen unless SJFA can't get volunteers to run their organisation in the future and it's disbanded.

Also the £20,000 prize money for winning plus gate receipts will no doubt have helped Glencairn & Cumnock in preparing for this season.

It wasn't 20k according to last season's constitution, it was a £12k guarantee from the SJFA for each finalist. Given the 4,034 crowd @ £10 ticket (let's assume half were £5 concessions) then the gate income was £30,000 so enough to cover the £24k. Which means the SJFA wouldn't have needed to dip into their bank account other than to pay the ground rental and other costs (above the £6k left over).

There was news of a "prize money" increase before the final, but no confirmation yet, and it could just be a guarantee rather than actual prize money - so the SJFA may not have to pay out in many cases where there are good crowds.

    https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sjfa-set-ramp-up-junior-30106064

The proposed change to the prize pot will also see the runner-up banking £10,000, losing semi-finalists £5000, losing quarter finalists £1000 and £500 to each of the teams knocked out in the last 16 plus £100 for those going out in the last 32.

The money is the big thing for me.

If the cup goes then that money is lost to the non-league game; an outcome which is turkeys-voting-for-Christmas level stuff.

At the moment neither competition has a sponsor, so money would be lost only if the SJFA folded and didn't put their finances back into the game.

I don't know if people are getting mixed up with the 80k proposal for the new national non-league cup that was floated, and never went anywhere.

    https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sjfa-set-ramp-up-junior-30106064

From back in May, constitution not updated on website so don't know if it went through and whether it's actually prize money or a guarantee...

This season’s prize for the winners sits at £12,000. But under a proposal put to member clubs that will almost double for next year’s competition which could see one of the biggest entries with all clubs from tier 5 downwards invited to apply.

An SJFA spokesman said: “Next season we are proposing no fees from our member clubs for the fourth year running and a once only offer to any clubs outwith Junior membership to give them free entry to participate in our great tournament as we believe they will see a benefit in it going forward.

"We believe this is an attractive proposition for a truly national trophy."

The proposed change to the prize pot will also see the runner-up banking £10,000, losing semi-finalists £5000, losing quarter finalists £1000 and £500 to each of the teams knocked out in the last 16 plus £100 for those going out in the last 32.

Alternatively, it could be that we have now moved into a new finical Quarter of the year (Q3) and Twitter have no funds to pay its cloud vendors, so they have to cut usage substantially.

    Hmm what was yesterday's date?

Does anyone have the dates for all the rounds?

Can work out it from the gaps in the SPFL calendar, assuming it's the same format as last season.

Prelim - 2 September (Alex Jack Cup round 2)

R1 - 23 September (based on Highland League fixtures gap)

    R2 - 28 October

    R3 - 25 November

    Last 32 - 20 January

    Last 16 - 10 February

    QF - 9 March

Semi - presumably 20 April before the split

    Final - 25 May
