  1. What nonsense? A name change? What else? I am a proper City fan, which is why I will continue to support the players that got us promoted! Yes, I did enjoy it at Ainslie Park, but we're back home now so we move forward (in League one!).
  2. OK mate, I'll bow to your superior knowledge!
  3. Did anybody go to the game yesterday at Braves? Thoughts?
  4. Your quite entitled to your opinion buddy. (seems a bit over dramatic to me!) All thats's REALLY happened is a name change. That's all. Anyway, I'm really only interested in the football on the pitch, and it's the same players in the same strips I'll be supporting this season.
  5. Fair enough mate, you got me there! Seriously though, yes we were poor for most of last season, but changed manager around March and were much better near the end of the season. Wait and see, I guess, I'm just saying we'll not be as bad as expected and Kelty not as good as expected. Not that any of that will matter to Dunfermline, QOS and Falkirk at the top end.
  6. Not many people predicting even a top eight finish for my Edinburgh City team! I never really followed League one before, so all I can tell you is Kelty Hearts are NOT much better than us! Lazy predictions with Kelty as high as 4th and Edinburgh last will be miles wrong, IMHO, off course. Would have been better to start this thread mid July, just before the league starts so we all have a better Idea of who's actually got what In their squads.
  7. He should win you's a few penalties, if nothing much else!
  8. With Meadowbank opening on the 19th of July, I wonder what will happen with the Arbroath game on the 16th ?
  9. Mark Docherty signs for City! Sorry FCE! Anyway 34 years old and I see Clyde fans don't rate him! At first glance, Looks a poor signing ?
  10. Do Spartans still have Blair Henderson and Alan Smith? Any other ex City players there next season? I think CSS have got Lairdy and Conrad? don't know who else is famililar? Finally is it likely Spartans will challenge for the title next season? EK look strong, not sure who else?
  11. I'm not too fussed about the name change, it's still the same club and players. Although as I said previously, my preference would have been Edinburgh Thistle as a nod to our return to Meadowbank. On that note, of much more concern to me is having no stadium for the start of this season! Even if we do get in by August this first season there will be utter sh1te until the other stand is eventually built! I said a year ago, and now having to say again too much rush from the club to get back to Meadowbank. We should have just waited it out for an extra year or two until Meadowbank was completly ready INCLUDING the New stand.
  12. Seeing as we're going back to Meadowbank, a name change to Edinburgh Thistle FC would have been OK
  13. I'd absolutely agree with this! We were a poor/average, mid table league 2 team for three quarters of last season. Although most of the players deserve their chance in league one, we will also need to start signing 5 or 6 better quality to have a chance of staying up. If City can finish third bottom next season then that's a good result for us! Falkirk, Dunfermline etc. The Bigger clubs should fight out the title.
  14. Yes they should! Well deserved. On another note Mr Pars fan, I guess your not so happy to be a League one club.... You'll likely go straight back up though?
  15. Well look at this! My wee team have officially arrived as League one side! I never thought I'd see the day, but here we are! Fucking big time now!
  16. So, St. Mirren, Arbroath, Airdrie and Cowdenbeath in the League cup. Not all that exciting a group, but hopefully we get Arbroath and Cowden away on Saturdays. A couple of decent days out.
  17. It's only another 200 seats. Other 1200 is standing / terracing.
  18. I don't know how long it will be before this happens, but...... Edinburgh City have been given the green light to build an additional stand at the new Meadowbank Stadium, taking the capacity up to nearly 2,000 and meeting SPFL requirements. https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/edinburgh-city-get-green-light-for-new-stand-at-meadowbank-3642262
  19. Ruby, this clown is a Clyde fan not Annan. The one unfortunate thing about promotion is having to put up with those halfwits again next season!
  20. Big relief at the final whistle! I'm So happy to see my wee team promoted to League one. Luckily we had the two goal lead from the first leg. City were poor first half tonight as Annan came flying out the traps and pushed us back. Second half better and a quality goal from Innes Murray then two brilliant saves from our goalie to win the tie. Referee, as Tam has said was a homer easily conned by the Annan players.! II do feel a bit sorry for the Annan fans, good people and maybe next year you'll have better luck. As for the Annan players there's a saying cheats never prosper! Number 9...Adrian Smith, get it roond ye ya wee rat!
  21. What a Brilliant free-kick Ryan shanley scored to make it 2-0 for City! Annan are a good, tidy side but don't look like scoring many. City have peaked at exactly the right stage of the season and look determined to take this chance to go up! Will be another good contest on Friday! Annan will need to chase the tie and so City will pick them off and score again.
  22. Tam, would have been good if you'd added the team names to the title of the thread! Anyway. I'd expect these games to be very tight, maybe two draws, then extra-time. I've been impressed with Annan the couple of times I've saw them this season! Good team indeed. As for City, we've had a poor first half of the season (thanks to Naysmith!) but have picked up our form recently, and were actually pretty good in last week's games with Dumbarton! Could definately go either way, but I'm quietly confident City are peaking at the right time!
  23. Agreed. I'd also start with Robbo and Shanley as they're the most likely to score and we certainly need to score a few tonight and next Week. I'm hoping we show a bit more urgency and intent from the start tonight as City are a decent team once they actually start to put some effort in!
  24. Well, in the summer transfer window Gary Naysmith cleared out five of our best players......and replaced them with well, average players. At least Today, with the departures of Chris Kane, Goodfellow and the two young St.Johnstone loan guys, he's clearing out those average players,.... AND apparently replacing them with..... more average players, if our Accies friends are to be believed!
