  1. If this league happens it will probably be somewhere between 12-16 clubs, so having BSC Reserves and Rangers and Celtic Colts is only 3 clubs. The latter two would bring some support through the gate. I read yesterday that Kilwinning had a grand total of 40 fans at Talbot.
  2. That's a fair point, but who cares who the messenger is as long as it pushes people to start discussions. As for the email, again who cares if it was written in crayon on the back of a fag packet.
  3. You're contradicting yourself somewhat, if a West of Scotland League is formed there will be some top Junior clubs go into it, therefore promotion/relegation to it from the Superleague is entirely natural, and pulls everything together ie integration.
  4. Still nae list though, it's your chance to put the case forward for the Juniors to remain as they are I'd say isolated is accurate since they don't interact with the rest of Scottish fitba, have a different governing body, but rely on the SFA providing referees.
  5. You might find that Benfica wont put out their strongest line-up. I've never been to a League Cup group game but by all accounts its used by the bigger clubs to give run-outs for their fringe players (I think Gauld make a few appearances for Sporting in the LC). A mate of mine is off to the Madeira derby tonight, lucky bugger.
  6. Tell Me More must have a long list the time he is taking
  7. So as I understand it, £20k for a new stand and the SFP will fund upto 10k if you're in the Pyramid, but only £5k if you're Junior. A fairly significant difference if you're looking for funding to help towards costs. EDIT: In fact its more significant if you want £40k. They will fund upto £20k whilst still only giving Junior clubs £5k if I understand what has been said.
  8. I think the SFA pay travel costs for games like that.
  9. The SFA don’t guarantee how much they will distribute and my understanding is that it varies year-on-year depending on profits and various other factors. Should Scotland ever qualify for a World Cup or Euros again (aye I know) then their profit balloons and therefore this should trickle down to its member clubs. More member clubs would probably mean dilution in pay outs, but not always. How much does the SJFA pay out annually to its member clubs and what’s the prize money for winning it? East Stirling, Stenhousemuir, Arbroath, Queens Park, Buckie Thistle, Spartans, Civil Service Strollers etc enter the Scottish Cup every single season yet know they have absolutely no chance of winning it, what they hope for is to get through a few rounds and then draw a big club. No different from the Junior Cup in that regard for most clubs but in the big Scottish you know you are going to receive prize money and never lose out financially, and you might just make significant sums, Fraserburgh got that this year and game live on telly, Bonnyrigg benefitted last year. That doesn’t happen in the Junior Cup. I was told a while back by someone involved with a Junior club that grant funding opportunities to Junior clubs is almost non-existent, to have a chance you’d need to be part of a community club. How true that is I don’t know but it appears more difficult than if you were in the Pyramid.
  10. What are the benefits of Junior fitba remaining isolated forever? list them.
  11. For those of us not interested in the squabble, what are BSC's motives for pushing a West of Scotland League?
  12. It does seem that BSC may have ulterior motives for this league to happen, revolving around securing a ground in Glasgow. However that shouldn't have any impact on how this is run and making a success of it. At the very least it gets clubs talking. 'Re a BSC Juniors, how can TJ turn them down, it's not his decision to make, and what difference would it be to the short lived Spartans Juniors?
  13. Not sure Glasgow Uni would be interested, they just seem to want a licence for Scottish Cup entry. I wonder if Bonnyton would move from SoS. Does anyone have the content of the info circulated to clubs?
  14. Times have changed from 5 years ago. People aren't stupid they can see the future of Junior football carrying on as is just isn't an option so do you jump now, or wait and potentially be left behind. A dilemma without a doubt.
  15. It is rather puzzling as to why BSC appear to be driving this, but welcome all the same. I don't think there would be too much difficulty in finding 12-14 clubs to get this off the ground. Who out of the big West clubs would want to be left behind. Once it gets off the ground there's no going back.
  16. Junior clubs could make the Lowland League a great competition and a Cup encompassing all non league clubs would also be great. Look forward not backwards.
  17. For goodness sake calm down, I have my opinion and you have yours and I base mine on going to games in Portugal and judging what I see. I'm not going to argue the toss over it as its only about opinion. The Euro record v Scottish teams is taken over a 27 year period, if a league is so obviously better then it should show in the stats, it doesn't.
  18. Yet Scottish clubs consistently have the better record when clubs from both countries meet. As I said, they seem to do better than Scottish clubs in Europe, that's obvious by the stats, but the standard below the top clubs isn't better than the SPFL, at least not by any great margin. Maybe they are better equipped to handle Euro comps, but trust me mid to lower table league games are as much a hard watch as our equivalent. So to pull it all together and back to the point of the thread, Ryan Gauld should be a stand out every week for Aves. He's just turned 22, if he can't stand out between now and the end of the season then I can't see him at Sporting much longer. I hope he does, now is the time for him to make his mark.
  19. Well you just said it, change is coming. The SJFA are talking about it. They are allegedly talking to the SFA about it. Kelty got the ball rolling and now more clubs are talking the same. That is yer future, in 5-6 years time we’ll look back and wonder why it took so long. Forget summer Junior fitba, it’s not going to happen.
  20. No sure you're read much of the thread then Summer fitba is impossible without floodlights, and let's face it, it's no going to happen. Stay in sync with the rest of Scottish fitba and join the pyramid, there's yer future.
  21. Top class stadium, as is the new one in Bucharest. I think both are in the 50-55k capacity range. Let's nick one.
  22. I think the point here is if there are games called off in August, September, October and November - and there will be - if you don't have floodlights then you don't have any wiggle room as you can't play catch-up in midweek.
