  1. I don't blame folk from the other side of the central belt for not fancying it, but the walking through Glasgow between stations is something I've heard numerous times as a reason that folk can't make it down to Ayr, Morton, St Mirren, Killie etc. I can't really understand it tbh, it's a 5 minute walk between the stations. Btw just a heads up to any Rovers fans heading down, I believe last time you were down the train just stopped at Prestwick and there was no additional train to Ayr available - that has now changed. Get off at Prestwick Town and wait 5 minutes for another wee shuttle train that goes on to both Newton-on-Ayr & Ayr. Eta. Granted with Ayr station a bit of a mess, the public transit is a bit more of a pain right now.
  2. It's absolutely mental. Surely there can't have been a side win that many games at the 2/3 point of the season, and not 1 of them by more than a single goal. For what it's worth I really hope you lot keep it up till the end. Would much rather see a fellow diddy team win, just so long as we can have 3 points on Saturday. Also Dundee United supporters seem to be a very precious lot. The tears all over the place after Friday night about "over celebrating" and tackles has been very amusing.
  3. Aye, surprised I had forgotten about that. It was a clear kick, pretty poor stuff. If an official sees it, it's a straight red.
  4. Looking forward to this. Rovers appear to have found their mojo again after a big win on Friday night, they won't want it to count for nought so would expect them to be right up for it. Ayr have also seen an improvement in performances of late and will be looking to stretch the gap to the bottom even further. In the game at Stark's in December we had a quite a lot of joy from really having a go at the Rovers defence, utilising the pace of Chalmers and Amartey to stretch their backline in every direction. It will probably be a different game here, but I'd still like us to show that same intensity and attacking intent. Chalmers to come back into the starting lineup. Our improved defensive performances of late have been good to see, McGinty in particular was excellent at Airdrie, and they'll have to be at their best again against a Raith side who will have their tails up. Prediction: Ayr 2-2 Raith
  5. Aye it's all round brilliant from him with the pressing and the assist.
  6. I can't really remember him doing much of note tbh. If we had got him running at them a bit more I think we could have seen him cause problems as the game was starting to get a bit stretched as they pushed for a way back in. Having said that, seem to recall him getting the ball lost in his own feet a couple of times as he ran forward. Not had much game time recently so will give him the benefit of the doubt, I think his pace and direct running can offer us an option in some games.
  7. It's good to know Brown isn't scared of being a bit ruthless with his changes if he feels it needs to be done. Tomlinson actually did very well going forward, but we did look quite vulnerable defensively down that side in the first half. Hopefully Tomlinson gets some more game time soon, just needs to be the right circumstances. Also, McGeady hasn't appeared off the bench in the last couple games. Hopefully means Brown has noticed that he's just not got it. Was concerned that with them probably having been pals that he might just stick with bringing him on regularly.
  8. Really get the impression McGinty is relishing being a leader on the pitch under Brown at the moment. Don't get me wrong, McGinty always treated the captaincy properly, even when his playing form took dips - but I've really enjoyed watching him command our box in recent weeks. It's great to see.
  9. Aye I felt for Mutch, did well to make the initial save and rushed back across to try and block the second effort, despite having dislocated his shoulder. At first it seemed like his shoulder was back in, then when the physio stood him up it very clearly popped again. Felt we saw the game out very very well after that. Charlie didn't really have anything to do at all.
  10. Wins like that are very important when we have a squad with the limited quality that we do. Airdrie shot themselves in the foot several times there, but I'd like to think it was our pressing and energy that forced those errors. McGinty was excellent today at winning absolutely anything that came near him, as was Sanders when he came on. Another great 3 points and we've helped to drag Airdrie right back into the mess at the bottom. Pleasing.
  11. I know Dowds deserved the plaudits for a hat trick, but my man of the match was Sean McGinty. The big man was brilliant today.
  12. Another win for the good guys. Make Airdrie greet again, x3.
  13. Was just going to say, game has the feeling about it that second half will be perfect for Chalmers as it opens up. Hopefully he comes on and is up for it. Had some nice passages of play, also look quite vulnerable to Airdrie's switches of play. Not really offering too much going forward, getting into plenty of nice spaces but we often seem uncertain on what to do at the key moment. Lots of energy, we just need more clinical passing / final product.
  14. Aye, haneck is a South Ayrshire thing, Ayr in particular. Never heard it anywhere else.
  15. You get a greenie because you are The red diamond.
  16. The goalposts returned the following season, unlike Airdrieonians. Enjoy yer night mate.
  17. Would happily take a point tbh, but I'll predict Airdrie 1-2 Ayr. Hopefully we can bring a decent crowd up and batter Airdrie on and off the park as usual. Natural order.
