  1. There will be spaces around here and there. But it's quite tight round the ground so getting out afterwards can sometimes be tricky. As @diegomarahenry said, there's a big gravel car park on Craigie Road across the road from Western House Hotel. Less than 5 minutes walk to the ground from there.
  2. Aye, "fairy tale" is chucked about far too much in football. It doesn't really have a meaning. Arbroath's organic growth in the space of 6/7 years from League 2 to the brink of promotion to the Premiership is probably the closest thing in recent times you could describe in those terms. I saw Newcastle United's takeover by the Saudi Arabian state and Manchester City winning the Champions League both being described as a fairytale on many occasions. Dafties. Always thought it was mental that the Gretna story was lapped up by the media so much, but I guess these are people who only have a focus on 2 clubs and understand nothing about football economics and logistics outside of that.
  3. We're bringing in a temporary stand for the away support, around 3000 seats is what I heard. Hope it's enough.
  4. Probably the exact same percentage as Alloway, Doonfoot, Belmont or anywhere else on Ayr. I grew up in Troon, a nice enough town, but absolutely full of c***s.
  5. Flew Ryanair couple years back from Prestwick to Alicante - I know, I know, I only have myself to blame. It was a last minute trip and was quite easy to fly into Alicante then travel up to Valencia for a few days. There was a big family group, all pished, who clearly hadn't checked their tickets beforehand and assumed they would all be sat together. When they discovered that they weren't and the cabin crew instructed them to sit down and stop trying to get people to shift, they kicked off and started shouting some quite vile stuff at the crew and nearby passengers who told them to shut it. Tbh, I was amazed that they weren't kicked off the flight before take off. Chaos ensued again half way to Alicante when the crew refused to serve them any more drink as they were in an embarrassing state. The rest of the flight was horrendous. A mix of these folk loudly proclaiming stuff along the lines of that "everyone on here is c**t". There was police waiting at the gate for them. Hopefully they were put on the first flight home and ruined their holiday.
  6. Aye, this. It is utterly shameful. The kind of behaviour straight out of the UKIP /Farage playbook. A total embarrassment.
  7. Yeah, if headed straight to the ground then Newton is your best bet. If you were a bit early and did fancy popping in somewhere, then at the ground you'll find the hub or round the corner is the Hawkhill bowling club. Away fans welcome in both.
  8. How many opportunities have Labour had to table a motion to call for a ceasefire? Yet they supported the ongoing atrocities in Gaza and said f**k all. Only when another party tables a motion, that risks showing Labour up for being a rabble of spineless charlatans, do they threaten the speaker to accept their amendment so that the aforementioned motion isn't heard and voted on (all while pretending a ceasefire call was their idea all along). To accuse others of playing political games immediately after their actions today is nothing short of remarkable. And they're supposed to be the opposition to one of the most corrupt, heartless and all round cretinous right wing governments in modern memory. Fucking state of British politics.
  9. Rumour seems to be he's headed to League 1, which is probably his level from having looked into him a bit.
  10. Some quite recent Ayr ones. David Bangala, aka "The Ghost" due to him not appearing for the club for months after the season started due to a delayed work permit. I refuse to believe he was actually a professional footballer elsewhere - convinced Lee Bullen got a call from George Weah's cousin before signing him. Michael Moffat - We signed him from Maybole Juniors when he was already 26! Just an exceptional striker. For a few years he was the man that single handedly prevented us sliding towards League 2. He returned in 17/18 and played alongside Shankland up top, probably the best partnership I've seen at Ayr. Jamie Adams - aka "The Big Fermer". Career that had been ravaged by injuries, he had been playing with Wigtown and Bladnoch in the SoS league when we signed him. A technically gifted footballer he was not, but he always gave 100% and was hard as f**k. Had a wee nasty streak in him too. The kind of guy you absolutely love if he plays for your team, but hate if he is against you. Retired at 31 through injury and now just works on the farm.
  11. Rumours that right back Ross Millen is to be released or loaned out by Raith Rovers. Supposedly a fallout between him and Ian Murray. Wonder if we would be looking to sign?
  12. Aye Brechin seem far and away the most capable of returning, as you say they've come very close last season. When you look at the teams that have dropped out, it's usually been the ones with the smallest crowds. East Stirlingshire, Berwick, Cowdenbeath, Albion. Those clubs I can see eventually drifting towards the bottom end of the Lowland League (or even into the West and East leagues) as some of the bigger ex junior clubs make their way up. Visited Bonnyrigg as a neutral for a game last year, was great. They feel like the first proper football club to make it up. eta. Would be quite funny to see Clyde drop out.
  13. I'm still bitter about scoring 4 away from home and somehow not winning. Nightmares about Bullen inexplicably taking Amartey, Chalmers and Dowds off while they were still causing chaos.
  14. Pleasing. McGinty was rightfully sent off for a stupid "tackle" on the half way line. There really wasn't anything else. Stanton simply fell awkwardly after jumping for a header.
  15. Ah, there was me thinking there was direct trains from Kirkcaldy to Glasgow. Didn't realise changes at Haymarket were always involved. I'm sure I had been on a direct service not that far back. May have misremembered. They don't, that service was scrapped I think. Took absolutely ages if I remember correctly.
  16. I don't blame folk from the other side of the central belt for not fancying it, but the walking through Glasgow between stations is something I've heard numerous times as a reason that folk can't make it down to Ayr, Morton, St Mirren, Killie etc. I can't really understand it tbh, it's a 5 minute walk between the stations. Btw just a heads up to any Rovers fans heading down, I believe last time you were down the train just stopped at Prestwick and there was no additional train to Ayr available - that has now changed. Get off at Prestwick Town and wait 5 minutes for another wee shuttle train that goes on to both Newton-on-Ayr & Ayr. Eta. Granted with Ayr station a bit of a mess, the public transit is a bit more of a pain right now.
  17. It's absolutely mental. Surely there can't have been a side win that many games at the 2/3 point of the season, and not 1 of them by more than a single goal. For what it's worth I really hope you lot keep it up till the end. Would much rather see a fellow diddy team win, just so long as we can have 3 points on Saturday. Also Dundee United supporters seem to be a very precious lot. The tears all over the place after Friday night about "over celebrating" and tackles has been very amusing.
  18. Aye, surprised I had forgotten about that. It was a clear kick, pretty poor stuff. If an official sees it, it's a straight red.
  19. Looking forward to this. Rovers appear to have found their mojo again after a big win on Friday night, they won't want it to count for nought so would expect them to be right up for it. Ayr have also seen an improvement in performances of late and will be looking to stretch the gap to the bottom even further. In the game at Stark's in December we had a quite a lot of joy from really having a go at the Rovers defence, utilising the pace of Chalmers and Amartey to stretch their backline in every direction. It will probably be a different game here, but I'd still like us to show that same intensity and attacking intent. Chalmers to come back into the starting lineup. Our improved defensive performances of late have been good to see, McGinty in particular was excellent at Airdrie, and they'll have to be at their best again against a Raith side who will have their tails up. Prediction: Ayr 2-2 Raith
  20. Aye it's all round brilliant from him with the pressing and the assist.
