  1. Of course its a team sport in this context, but that doesn't strengthen any contention that Froome would have won had he not been supporting Wiggins to the yellow jersey. He has said himself that he learned a great deal during the 3 weeks, and no doubt some of what he learned came from Wiggins. Maybe their placings are bang on based on skill and experience.
  2. Bloody hell, I'll never catch up with this thread when I return from holiday. Even T_Sevco_A_R has emerged again! Where to start...?
  3. Retired in honour of their twelfth man.... the loyal bears! Would bring a tear to a glass eye, so it would. In other news, over here in Menorca, I was enjoying a mid-morning coffee at the bar when a slightly portly young chap - perhaps 16 or 17 (stones and/or years) - rolls up in his TCFKAR top. Oh dear. I had to restrain my mirth (I'm a middle aged man, after all), but it seemed that several other people nearby were less willing to follow suit. He could be in for a week or two of pain and ridicule. I blame his parents.
  4. I'm heading off to Menorca tomorrow so will miss the fallout from the SPL meeting clusterfuck. Part of me is glad that I won't be around, as I've just about had my fill of this debacle, not least following our illustrious leader's recent fuckwittery in the press I will, however, miss the fun on this thread. I'm assuming it'll be fun, right...? I have absolutely no idea what to expect from the next few days - well, apart from cold beer, red wine, wall-to-wall sunshine, and some peace to read a few good books . That aside, I will be returning a week tomorrow, fully expecting Doncaster and Regan to have walked or, preferably, been bagged. As for the situation with the SPL, I would anticipate a final, desperate throw of the loaded dice. This will be one of those funny if it wasn't so cringeworthy moments, then everyone will settle down to the reality that newco will, if they are lucky, be featuring in SFL3, and should count themselves very damn fortunate if they are.
  5. Player contracts have relegation clauses that, along with the parachutepayment eases the hit of relegation, but that isn't the point. To condemn the SFL clubs for making the right decision - the same decision he made, FFS - is a disgrace.
  6. Gilmour has made a rip-roaring cunt of himself with those comments. Embarrassing doesn't cover it
  7. Sir Turnbull Hutton has been silenced! ETA: no - it's okay....he lives too
  8. BBC reporting that an SPL club official stating that there is next to no chance of newco being invited back into SPL.
  9. Twitter link: PDE Twitter feed exclusive - Gilmour: 'I hope the SFL clubs realise the damage they have done to Scottish Football'
  10. You answered your own question. Despicable is the word that springs to mind.
  11. Aye, impressive indeed. Meanwhile, over in Inverness, Paisley, etc.... Poor, poor show from some of the SPL clubs, yet again. Shameful stuff, in all honesty.
  12. FFS, as feared. He'd better not try to pull some stunt to get this shambles of a club further up the leagues after everything that has happened. I sat in their board room and asked them if they had any confidence, whatsoever, that Green would be able to get his operation up and running, and playing in any league, and he (and his colleagues) didn't look remotely assured. If Gilmour opts to alienate a substantial proportion of loyal, committed St Mirren supporters, and to incur the wrath of the fans of numerous other clubs, on the basis of the throw of a dice, then he will have made the biggest miscalculation in his business life.
  13. Absolutely. The very notion of Doncaster standing at the foot of the steps reading out a statement to the effect that the newco will be in the SPL after all, or that an SPL2 is being created for next season, is simply ludicrous, but that won't have stopped some of them trying to pull it off.
