  1. This must absolute torture for people with a complex about their weight. Football shirts are particularly bad for it. Adidas for example, a few seasons ago Large was Large, XL was a bit bigger. Now XL is just a longer version of large, good for tall skinny folk, but no extra belly space, and XXL is a cape. That's not me getting bigger, coz the old shirt still fits the same. Macron are worse still, getting the average Scotsman into an XL is like getting an apple into a condom, I'd imagine
  2. Try http://www.setlist.fm Won't have everything but its user driven so you can add gigs in. As the name suggests, its great for set lists too. Quite common at big gigs sadly, usually for a higher price though. A good tactic, if you get tickets in there and don't like/can't handle the lack of space, is go to the back of that front section. Loads of space and you're still in front of most of the crowd. Being at the front of the second section isn't as good as you'd hope, as you'll have a line of security in your face the other side of the barrier. Incredibly irritating, and seems to be happening more and more, including at quieter gigs as you and others have mentioned. Almost without fail, these will be the same people taking selfies and posting to instagram & facebook, it seems to be more important to show people what they are doing than to actually enjoy what they are doing. Absolutely baffles me with the price of tickets these days that people will pay that money and make the effort to get to a gig, and then spend most of the time ignoring the gig, probably waiting for that one tune they know. I was at the Glasgow equivalent of this gig, great night!
  3. "Alzati tu, fottuti cacciatori di gloria" Rare to see only the starters and subs on the podium for the trophy lift, rather than all the injured guys, "homegrown" quota fillers, coaches, physios, analysts, kitmen & hangers on. Probably the only thing about tonight's event that's been good to see.
  4. Ball came straight to him. If you'd said one of the worst misses you'd ever seen, I'd believe you, but I've seen better saves when someone's elbow wobbles a pint glass in a pub. Important save, fair enough, best, nah. The one in the last second was better.
  5. Ha, nah, had 2 spare adult tickets, which have been taken up by a father & son. I'm sure the boy will get in no problem, but highly doubt we'll get the £20 overspend back
  6. Anyone know if you can change an adult ticket to a child ticket, or is it just a case of the kid goes in on the adult ticket and you take the financial hit? Cheers
  7. I don't know the finer details, but basically, yes. In October Leon King played home and away against Liverpool, as well as playing against Napoli and Civil Service Strollers. The B team starting XI each week can completely skew results against other teams in the league, therefore potentially influencing promotion and relegation places. Again, without knowing the exact details, I do know the answer to your question is no.
  8. Sky with their trademark attention to detail when referencing Scottish football in an article about Carlisle's Owen Moxon... Full article for the interested few
  9. You and Scott Agnew are on the same page then, because apparently that's everyone from last season's squad who is coming back now re-signed. What's needed from the new signings then? Left back, left wing and another striker?
  10. Wow. I am pedantic, yes, but are you always so snappy? We're on the same side here! My comment about the League 1 forum was clearly in jest and meant to be seen as celebratory, as our team have now been confirmed as promoted. It's a time to rejoice and look forwards, not to snipe at each other I agree. Gibson has been great, but another year on can he be relied upon week in week out? Charlie Barnes did well before Gibson came in, but good enough for the league above? Hope so. Matty Douglas is probably the best CB at the club, with Scott Hooper my 2nd choice, but Douglas just missed almost the whole season injured. I think he, and Hooper are good enough for League 1 if fit, but depth could be important. Steven Swinglehurst still has big performances in him, but at times he has looked off the pace and past his best. Hopefully that was just due to lack of fitness though. Tommy Muir has been converted from a striker and done well, but again, is he good enough for the step up? Left back I covered in my earlier post. I'd love Max Kilsby to come back, but wouldn't be surprised if Carlisle kept him.
  11. Think you meant to post this in the League 1 forum mate Hopefully Carlisle go up in their playoff final at the weekend. If they do, the players they are willing to loan out or even let go could be even better than Max Kilsby. If Kilsby doesn't come back (I expect Paul Simpson will at least want a look at him in preseason) then a left back is essential. Centre midfield too unless Reece Lyon comes back. Sadly Josh Galloway seems to be missing something and Chris Johnston isn't as effective as he was, so right wing will also be an area to target.
  12. Back over on the Annan v Clyde thread, @untitled00 who touched on a great idea... I realise they could make a mess of this and make it really patronising, but if it was done right I'd definitely pay attention. If it was football related words and phrases they were introducing us to, we would start to understand some of the commentary and who knows, maybe some people would be interested to learn more - therefore increasing the number of Gaelic speakers and keeping the language alive. All whilst we get to watch lower league football on free to air TV. Win win.
  13. He had a good game last night, one of only a few Annan players who did. A lot of comments on here saying Annan aren't up to much, fair enough on last night's display. Too many players were off it for some reason last night, the midfield in particular didn't get ahold of the game until midway through the 2nd half. They can play much better, so to have been off it and won 3-1 is good going. Clyde were better than I expected though. Maybe Annan couldn't get into their stride because Clyde didn't let them. Their left hand side in particular did a great job of keeping Johnston and Gibson quiet. Their pressing was good, they were winning every 2nd ball and looked sharp going forward, but thankfully without much of an end product. Still all to play for on Friday really. If Clyde score early who knows what will happen. I'll say a draw, or a 1 goal Clyde win, Annan going up either way.
  14. Was thinking this too. With the remaining fixtures (Newcastle have Brighton, Leicester and Chelsea) I could see the Geordie Arabians drawing their way to the Europa League
  15. You might not know the answer, but it's always worth asking you these things! I remember the 10 year lifespan being stated when the pitch was laid, but was that 10 years of comparative use to the grass pitch, or 10 years of use with increased activity factored in? Obviously artificial pitches get much more use than grass pitches, and there's no way of knowing how much use a pitch that is hired out and used for training, reserves, women, youths etc will get 4 or 5 years into the future, so I wonder if other clubs who have replaced their pitches in a shorter time frame have done so based on heavy usage and deterioration, rather than a pre determined/estimated length of time.
  16. I would've went, 100%, if I wasn't already busy elsewhere, like yerself. Will be the same for the Cree Lodge and Challenge Cup finals sadly. That time of year for me
  17. Really should've won that game. Too many missed chances and bad decision making in the box. Whelan was unlucky with the header that came off the back of Crichlow's head, but Edmonson really has to score his big chance. On the plus side, it's only 1 goal. Play like that again, with an end product, and it's a home win on Saturday. Also, from a Scottish perspective. Goal and assist from Scotsmen, best player in the first half is a product of Annan Athletic, best player in the 2nd half was a Scottish International up to U19s - some great balls in from Jack Armer.
  18. Garner and Dennis together doesn't work, too similar. Agree with your point though. Dennis for Garner, Edmonson or Gibson for Patrick. Maybe not at Half Time, but after not too long. Ideally it'd be JK Gordon coming on, but he's still suspended for his next to nothing shrug off against Barrow. Robinson will probably come of for Armer at somepoint too, depending on Senior's fitness.
  19. Frustrating. Could've (should've?) had a pen. Screamer shot off the bar. Concede from Mellish's position, where was Whelan? Had the better of the game towards the end of the half but have to do better in the final third. Whelan has to hit the target, Patrick has to get the ball across. Pleasing to see Moxon playing so well, again. Ref's a joke. Shocker to miss that corner off Stubbs, and to give Carlisle the freekick for McCalmont's dive. Long way to go though, and plenty of positive signs
  20. Yes. Got very close last year with the difference being a tremendous goalkeeping performance from Brian Schwake and a screamer goal from Innes Murray. Kept most of the squad together with a few good additions and remained strong despite losing main man Owen Moxon, who was one of the leading players in England's League Two this season. Peter Murphy deserves enormous credit. If promotion is secured, Annan will need to strengthen, but these players and the staff have earned their right for the step up. Hopefully the Clyde game at Galabank starts the same way the Dumbarton one did, come out flying and leave them shell-shocked before Duffy's gameplan gets a chance to kick in.
  21. No. Well, Harry Mitchell came off the bench in the 86th minute vs Stenhousemuir to make his SPFL debut 3 days earlier, and a few others were also on the bench for that game and the one before, but as far as I'm aware, no League 2 regulars often, if ever, made an appearance for Stranraer's Reserve team. Agree with your point though, because as seen in the Lowland League, the availability of a certain calibre of player for some games and not others can impact results and potentially League places for their opponents.
  22. You've touched on a fair point there. Yes QoS are in what looks like a decent reserve setup with some top tier teams, but the organisation of it seems to have been a bit of a shambles this season. Loads of games postponed, kick-off times changed, home/away switched... all often seemingly without much notice or at least the public not being informed in good time.
  23. I think it's different with Queens' reserves as they are involved in the SPFL reserve league setup. Sending players out on "development loans" allows players to play in the Lowland or South Leagues but still train with QoS and play in the reserve leagues. If they continue within this setup, they don't really need to enter a team into the SOS. League. Although I do like that they play in some of the cups. Are you suggesting Annan bring back their SOS reserve team for their youth products who aren't yet ready for the first team? Would the Lowland Development League be an option or would that be too much travel? Of course yeah, Sunday amateurs I meant.
