  1. Any danger of VAR being used at the Premiership grounds this weekend, outwith the TV games? If it's like the Scottish Cup last season, it will be up to the two teams to agree to it, and pay for it, so I'm guessing not.
  2. You should be disappointed, but also relieved at getting a point. Despite being a man down for so long (I'll come back to that) Stranraer were the better team for large parts of that 2nd half. The game should've been over with the penalty, and especially with the penalty retake. I don't think I've ever seen the same player take two consecutive penalties so identically poorly. Was it a red card? I've heard people say Craig Ross wasn't last man, Kyle Girvan had him covered. No chance, Austin was away from both of them so IF Ross has brought him down, it should be a red, right? Well, according to some, Austin was offside (not sure myself) and the keeper was getting it anyway (again, not sure.) I don't think it was a foul though, I think Austin has tripped over Ross, rather than Ross bringing him down. Either way, Kyle Girvan was superb in thwarting Austin for the rest of the game, and well done Scott Agnew for not changing formation and seemingly sticking to the gameplan. Last season Stranraer would've been well beaten in a game like this, so positive signs for me. The team looks fitter & stronger than last season and will be very disappointed not to have won the game.
  3. Yeah admittedly I hadn't thought of an alternative. As Stewarty says the current format serves it's purpose for smaller teams and can be a very enjoyable way to start the season. It's the big clubs winning the whole thing after just 4 games that irks me the most.
  4. Correct, thanks, which of course makes it even worse
  5. Queen of the South were knocked out unbeaten (in 90 mins.) Would've went through if they'd won the 2 shootouts. Only 13 from 40 getting through is a bit rubbish. Even worse is that the eventual winners can, and usually do, win the cup after just 4 games.
  6. Not so strange. He left for League 1 a few seasons ago with Burton. Didn't get much of a look in, barely played and didn't score, so he came back. He wasn't a guaranteed starter last season and as you say he didn't like his role. I doubt he would've played much for Carlisle in League One, and this move takes him closer to home. Lacks ambition maybe, but not overly surprising.
  7. Sitting in 67th place with 67 points and my 67 year old Vice Captain decides to join/leave the party. Shame. Well played George.
  8. Completely agree with the first two points, and yes Alex McCaw was excellent in the first half. Annan were very lucky that the injury to Fernie meant McCaw had to stay back. A bit of context about the left back, Frazer Glen. He's a teenager who couldn't get a game for Abbey Vale in the South of Scotland league last season. I've no idea what he's doing anywhere near this level of football, he was horribly out of his depth. I'm guessing he's essentially been brought in on trial and signed on an amateur basis so he can be used in games as cover until an actual footballer is brought in. That may have destroyed him mentally on Saturday. His replacement, Ryan Muir, is another youngster who couldn't get a game last season, he was at Queen of the South. He usually plays on the right and although he fared better than Glen, he still struggled against McCaw. Rovers were impressive, Annan were shocking and badly need some signings. Yes they had injuries and players out of position, but on Saturday's evidence both teams could be in the same league again next season.
  9. One of many recent Napoli kits attempted the camouflage style.... ...and they might just have got away with it if it wasn’t for that big ugly sponsor that's ruined their shirts for years.
  10. Amazon's packaging, particularly when buying something like this....
  11. He's a radio presenter who likes football but hasn't really been a regular attendee in the past, as far as I know, so the unique and sometimes cheesey style isn't a surprise. Some of it works, some of it will probably be ironed out over time. One thing he did do the other night which I'm a massive fan of is play some music by some local bands. ONR definitely featured and I think 13 Crowes did too. This is a great idea and should be done across the country to give some exposure to local talent. Football fans don't want to hear Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj or whoever's currently in the charts
  12. Good tip cheers. It's Unterhaching though, so I guess it would be a bit of a derby
  13. Cheers. Has anyone got any tips on how to get tickets for 1860 Munich? I hear it's really tough for locals never mind visitors, but they're home when I'm there so I'd love to go. Internal ticket exchange for season ticket holders who can't attend maybe?
  14. Ikechi Eze? Eberechi's brother? Surely not? He was out of his depth at Stranraer last season and punted out on loan after hardly getting a game.
  15. Yep. Mitchell in goals. Gibson, Douglas, Hooper, R.Muir. Luissint, Dixon, McMahon Galloway, Smith, unknown guy called Lewis. Goss & Swinglehurst came on in the 2nd half, as well as lots of young guys I didn't recognise, and some I did but couldn't identify. Fleming didn't come on, and no sign of Tam Muir, Doherty or Johnston. Dixon played in the Moxon role, as others had predicted he would. Looked good and confident on the ball, but maybe too much so at times as him losing possession in the box led to Abbey Vale's goal.
  16. Yeah as I said a few posts up Dixon was really promising a few seasons ago. I'm not at all surprised, but delighted he's joined Annan. If fit, he should be an asset I think he's more attack minded and can play wide. Could be wrong though, been a while since I saw him in action.
  17. Another one at Muse here, absolutely outstanding, loved every minute. That's a band and a production crew at the top of their game, incredible. Twin Atlantic in support were pish. So basic. The Warning before them were excellent. Three Mexican sisters playing right good rock music. Would love to see them in their own show. Really entertaining watch too particularly the drummer. Loads of folk around us moaning about the time Muse were going on at. First of all, there's a power of work to do in turnover between support and a main act like that, you can't cut corners. Ok maybe they could have gone on slightly earlier, but it's an outdoor gig with pyro and a massive light show. They're always going to leave it as late as possible so it's as dark as it can be. Plus, set times are communicated before the show, they were on time. £6.50 for a Carlsberg, £7.50 for a spirit and mixer. For a rum & coke, it was rum, and then some flat Pepsi Max poured out of a plastic bottle. Apparently they can't give you "a shot" as they put it, so if you want to get a can from a food vendor & sort out your own measure, or just have a wee whisky, tough luck. Another joke was the 150 step airport style zigzag to get to the bar, even when it was close to empty. Anyway, a great gig, as was The Hu on Thursday. They were excellent. The sound and the crowd were much better than at SWG3 in December. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
  18. Carlisle the latest team to try the bus seat approach.... Would probably look better with white shorts, the blue ones look a different shade to the shirt. As for the away....
  19. A very enjoyable listen, here ye go... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0fvty0p?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile Another thing to factor in about how good that win was, and how the performance was not terrible, is that almost all or our squad haven't kicked a ball competitively for at least 3 weeks. Their best player just played in the Champions League final last week, and their domestic based players are right in the middle of their season. That should've been a massive advantage for them.
  20. Bit harsh. When he moved from Stranraer to Queens do you think it was because "money talks?" Whilst I don't doubt his money will increase elsewhere, this seems very much a well deserved case of career progression.
  21. I'm assuming Transfermarkt have taken their data from Opta, who usually had Annan down as 4-4-2 although they very rarely played that, it was much more often a 4-3-3, with Tony Wallace playing as the most advanced of the central midfielders. He certainly can do what you're thinking, but for the last couple of seasons at Annan he was far more effective through the middle.
  22. I'll be there. The gig, not the meet & greet. Not sure how much English they speak, so could be interesting for you. Curious to know how big they are, they all looked massive on stage at SWG3. Speaking of that gig, I wasn't impressed by the sound at all. Backline was fine but the traditional instruments were lost, as were some of the vocals. Either it wasn't their own engineer, or if it was, he struggled with the venue. Would be interested if you could find this out - probably more chance of tech crew speaking English than the band members. Either way, I'm hoping the sound will be much better at the Academy and am looking forward to it.
  23. What did you do to him, you absolute hero?
  24. Suppose you could count last season's loans in the "lose a few" list. Don't see Lyon or Kilsby coming back. One I'd like to see come in from Carlisle is Josh Dixon, midfielder. He looked like a really good prospect but serious injuries have held him back and he's been released this summer. Worth a try at part time though, he might see Moxon's progress as an inspiration
