  1. aye I also thought Dickov when he said it. And then I also remembered that there was a Scottish centre half at Arsenal in the early 90s. I can't recall his name but I do remember him scoring once in a league game for Arsenal. He wasn't very good and may not have been called up for any Scotland squads (he did play for the u21s though). in any case just shows the shoddy research on MotD. A researcher pulls together some clips to reinforce a point about a team not tracking back or not having men on posts at corners and put it to Shearer/Wright to project their masterful insight. The difference between teams playing well and those losing will often boil down to simple "confidence" and/or "determination"...... ETA - Scott Marshall ! bagged a league goal against Newcastle......
  2. It was the lack of reaction at the time from the players that also infuriated me. It looked a shocking tackle and ir was a shocking tackle and after Ganea did it, I think Pressely perhaps sauntered over. No reaction from the players proportionate to a career threatening tackle which kind of I suppose summarised where we were as a team/squad under Vogt's. I think even Colin Cameron came out and defended his Wolves team-mate along the long suffering cliched lines of "he is not the type of player" FFS.....
  3. you seem to think duration is key in attempting to support a random, pointless and banal list.
  4. or Waldorf poignantly commemorating the loss of Statler to C-19.
  5. and despite many pending catastrophic moments, manages to squeeze in extended calls to earth to deal with her daughter's truancy/homework/general issues....
  6. notwithstanding the lower case "s", why did the OP assume that Salmond must be spelling his first name with a "c" and not the much more common and correct "x" ?
  7. I couldn't be arsed with the mirror universe two-parter so waited for the new episode to see the cause of the burn. A coupe of promising scenes ruined by overly-sentimental guff. I think that's about enough of Discovery for me - at least for this season. Hope that Strange New Worlds has a completely different show runner and is completely different tone, structurer and crew dynamic than Discovery S3.
  8. "funniest shit I have ever seen". Nothing has come to close to this level of funny for that tweeter. In their life.
  9. is it assumed that everyone knows what the NC500 is? I resent having to look things up, particularly in book titles or headlines. For the reason, this dragon is out. Edit: should it not be "an" NC500 road trip adventure?
  10. Spiers shore-horning presbyterianism into a football article? well I never.....
  11. I think famous people who could potentially attend your game and in turn could annoy someone in the crowd by doing so leaves the remit of the thread rather wide......
  12. this is probably a really stupid question but is there one platform that captures all the weekend highlights?it used to be on the SPFL YouTube site but I think theist highlights package was about 9 months ago. Is it the case now that individual clubs have their own games/highlights ? It may be I am not looking in the right place but it all seems quite sporadic and not centrally packaged or marketed.....
  13. Johnny has on the whole been the honourable character throughout, always trying to do the right thing by his students perhaps in a drive for redemption. Daniel however is consumed by the bitterness of his youth and has been vindictive from the out-set - despite his claims to be following Mr Miyagi's teachings.
  14. I like it also but my favourite Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday movie remains Tombstone.
  15. in fear of coming across as a Seagal aficionado, Hard to Kill if I recall correctly was one of his earlier films and at a time when he was in pretty good shape. It was definitely pre-wig.
  16. if it directly leads to a goal ie intercepted pass, short with a pass back, conceding a free-kick which leads to a goal (direct shot not a cross), or conceding a successfully converted penalty, is that really too subjective? hope I don't seem as being belligerent, just genuinely interested.
  17. I didn't say it was tosh to be critical of the SNP - you have mis-read. you state, and gave stated a zillion times that in a choice between indy and status quo you will vote "yes" - assuming yes is for Scotland to be independent. However you qualify this by saying that due to covid and Brexit you would seek further devolution or proper devolution to strengthen the economy - therefore a desire to remain part of the UK in those circumstances and retain the status quo. You are a bit all over the place tbh.
  18. being an SNP member rather than voter means that you fundamentally agreed with independence. Many people can understand someone not fully agreeing with the way the SNP are evolving and that person no longer being an SNP member for those reasons - but that person still believes in independence. Its difficult to believe any recent SMP member who believed in independence now considering over the last few years that Labour actually best represents Scotland's interests and those interests are best achieved (according to SLAB and Westminster Lab) by remaining in the UK. That is utter tosh I am afraid.
  19. does extent of culpability for goals conceded come into your percentile ranking? Cause (unfortunately) as a defender if you have great stats on defensive aerial duels and interceptions but make a couple of major howlers every game then its all window dressing.
  20. When a quiz contestant or a caller comes on the BBC and say they are a "manager for a well known chain of chicken fast food restaurants" or something to that effect. They say is in such a smarmy dull voice that gives the impression they use this phrase to always describe their employer. In any case do the BBC still care about this form of "advertising"?
  21. I like this thread at this time of year as the P&B-ers with many years experience of driving up and down the Alps* comment on how crap other people are at driving in snow or ice. *other mountain ranges are acceptable but that experience and skill must always be referred to in the post.
  22. similar to shop owners/assistants giving yer dug biscuits tin an attempt to make you feel compelled to buy something.
