Every now and then P&B’s jealousy of the north east of Scotland rears its ugly head.

I should be flattered and pleased, but honestly it just makes me sad.

Those of us unfortunate enough to reside in the land of Celtic, Rangers, Radio Clyde Super scoreboard, secterian marches and newsreaders who pronounce December like it has a 'Z' in it, have a lot to be jealous about.

  2. Whenever this topic comes up special mention must be made of the wonderful Aberdeen 1970 side. Won at Parkhead twice (April & December). Won at Ibrox (October) and won at Hampden (April) , swatting aside Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final.  And remember this was when Celtic were light years ahead in quality of any Celtic side of the last 40 years.

Why would you support a team that has thousands and thousands of terrorist loving bigots supporting them then?  Aren't you better than that?  I certainly couldn't sit in amongst that shite weekly and feel I was part a a special support.   Part of going to games and supporting a football club is the camaraderie you get with fellow supporters and enjoy the good times and suffer the shite.   I don't understand a non-bigot old firm fan just sitting there listening to that and actually enjoying themselves.

    This exactly.....

When will Celtic seriously address the vile behaviour of a section of their fans?

At this point, given that Celtic benefit financially from these people, I can only conclude that they don't want to.

Celtic fans, what are you doing as a club and as a fanbase to prevent this?

A more pertinent question is why on earth would any adult who condemns bigotry support Glasgow Rangers or Glasgow Celtic ? The vile idiotic element don't attach themselves to these clubs by accident. Their support has been encouraged at Ibrox and Parkhead as a business model for over a century. Rangers & Celtic have neither the will or the wisdom to rid themselves of the stain of bigotry. It's up to those who despise that bigotry to rid themselves of Rangers & Celtic.

Anyone voting to keep the, widely ignored anyway, ban in place should be named and shamed tbh for being a temperance movement weirdo

Anyone voting to scrap also named and shamed as slavering , doubly incontinent alky weirdo I presume. ?

They were top of the league about 4 games ago until half a dozen players got injured/suspended. This place was full of people lauding him up a month ago.

The chat on this thread is awful. If it isn’t page after page of “BARCLAYS” it’s page after page of any manager who lost their most recent game being called a fraud.

Nobody who had any knowledge of his time at Celtic was lauding him. We all knew he wasn't/isn't good enough for a top European league.

Always found it a bit annoying that BBC Sport don't use any of the Sport Scotland staff for their network production - other than Sutherland doing the interviews it was all freelancers that came in - McLean on comms was a brutal choice - especially when you have Lamont and McLeod in-house, who are far better.

The women's game the other night was quite interesting (production wise - not the shambles on the pitch) and I suspect Barbour will be on Scotland's games for the Beeb, which while she's a good presenter, I imagine might rub the PQ staff up the wrong way. Although weirdly they were promoting Sportscene and SWPL Highlights - which I haven't seen from a network production recently.

With STV/ITV - I really hope they combine their coverage - but make sure it's fully Scottish - like have the STV team come in and use the ITV resources - rather than have the likes of Pougatch or Jaswal on Scotland's games. Rory Hamilton is a no-brainer for them surely.

Suppose the likes of Stewart will have free choice.

Naw....I like 'to see ourselves as others see us' . And Scottish commentators are generally rubbish. Certainly 'little boy shouter' Liam McLeod should be given the summer off.

No, I'm one of those people that doesn't dismiss this Scotland team before they've kicked a ball. One win is possibly enough to qualify out the group. I cannot be arsed with the constant negativity from some folk.

Stating that Scotland will do well and may indeed struggle, to get out of that group is not negativity but reality based on our standing in international football and our history of failure. I cannot be arsed with the 'get them pumped' cheerleading that passes as support among some people....

That's exactly how I see it.  I'm 38 and I know they're going to win at least one tournament in my lifetime so I'm not too bothered about it.  They should win tournaments fairly regularly IMO, maybe one every 4 or 5, so the fact that they haven't won any of the 21 World Cups and Euros they've qualified for since 1966 is very, very funny.

I'm 62, they've won one tournament in my lifetime and that's quite enough, thanks.

Jock Stein in his playing days for Celtic against Manchester United in the semi finals of the Coronation Cup at Hampden in 1953, they were promptly dispatched as Arsenal had been the round before as an all Scottish final was the end result with Celtic beating Hibernian, an outcome that no doubt delighted the FA and English hierarchy at the time.

Tottenham and Newcastle were the other English sides to compete with the Old Firm,Hibs and Aberdeen.

"England sent four of the best, they didn't meet with much success as the trophy ended up in paradise...."

Marvelous achievement and you are left in awe and wonderment that such a thing was possible given the worldwide masonic conspiracy that attempts to derail Glasgow Celtic at every opportunity. ☘️

Except that there are hundreds of sports teams/people who visit the Pope when in Rome, it’s not an uncommon thing however the only place with an issue with it is here, Celtic aren’t exactly setting precedent here

There is probably an issue with it here because in 2023 people are sick to the back teeth of two tediously vile football clubs, whose whole pointless existence appears to be predicated purely on fanning the dying embers of late 19th/early 20th century religious bigotry for financial gain, continuously playing to the basest secterian elements of their fan base. It's obvious what they're doing, it's repugnant and it has absolutely nothing in common with any individual's genuine affiliation or affection with either the papacy or the monarchy. And it is certainly an utterly irrelevant piece of Old Firm whataboutery to say 'but loads of other sportsman visit the pope' .

  12. We could take a leaf out of the Irish book....rebrand it 'Andy's Day' , hand out Tennents Lager sponsored 'See You Jimmy' Tammies , send Hamza Yousaf to Washington with a bouquet of freshly cut Thistles and generally behave like a shower of annoying, needy, narcissistic twats.......or leave it as it is.

    Pandering

Indeed , pandering.... Pandering to their thick bigoted fan base who see Celtic as some sort of 'Irish Catholic cause' that just happen to kick a football about as a wee sideline. Or, maybe not ! Maybe Celtic, as a club open to all creeds and none, will, following future European humiliations seek solace and comfort from The Chief Rabbi, The Moderator of The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, The CEO of the Secular Society, The Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Dalai Lama and David Icke.
