  1. The subject of Rangers management is in the air today, I'm told. From the old days, here's Scott Symon (centre) discussing the prospects of playing at Victoria Park in February 1967 amid a blizzard. The soft southerners influenced the ref as usual and the game was called off.
  2. The Rangers finances sorted! BBC Sport Scotland understands Villa have paid Rangers £4.5m in compensation.
  3. Interesting comparison with @HibeeJibees post on the "Photographic History" thread (page 462) regarding the example of the Jambos in the 60's. Different days, but at least all teams in the league faced largely the same number of games per season - 7 or 8 a month today is an overload more often seen in the Highland League in the spring.
  4. In a similar manner to Ian Stewart (a Fifer, no less) who was not an official member of the Rolling Stones due to having the wrong image. They are fine tuning the image and reducing the appearances of those deemed not worthy. (Or maybe it's down to good looks rivalling those of @Francesc Fabregas?)
  5. The BBC say... Posted at 15:0415:04 Post update Rangers 0-0 Ross County Rangers have conceded first in each of their last four games. Will that continue today or get brought to an end?
  6. Fantasy < Hope < Expectation < Reality. Fantasy (0-5) Hope (0-1) Expectation (5-0) Reality (Crowd breaking off from songs of bigotry and hate to chant criticism of the visiting manager for his tweets of bigotry and hate).
  7. The undead versus the in-danger-of dying. Having missed their opportunity to have an encouraging easy victory over the Hibees, one fears for County. I suspect a several-goal difference with ensue.
  8. The BBC's whimsical take on the offending item. "The traditional Protestant folk tune is popular with the Orange Order."
  9. ...and Ramsay will get his chance once he's followed the traditional route and moved to Glasgow
  10. The Glasgow Herald review of the game included the telling phrase "...Sakala won a penalty". I remember the good old days when defenders "gave away penalties". Irrespective of the teams involved it's no longer down to a penalty being given within the rules of the game, it's too often the result of Oscar winning performances. (Or pantomime one's like last night).
  11. It's all about the height of the County side tonight, according to the BBC website... "County's biggest Malky Mackay's side are now just a point behind second-bottom Dundee."
  12. Mr Beaton & Co would adopt the Chick Young & Co philosophy and register their love for their favourite diddy team. Unreliable on the pitch, unreliable off it too nae doot.
  13. 'Twas always the Inversnecky that was the true attraction on a cold miserable windswept summer day. Mr Vicca's.
  14. However bad it turns out, BBC Alba has the full, complete, 90 minute delayed broadcast in the early evening. And again at 11pm. Doze off or face your nightmares.
  15. Truly pointless. Truly wonderful. When the P&B Awards once more grace our screens fuelled by our personal prejudices we really really need a special award for the unstinting efforts of @craigkillie. (Although you can slag him off under the banner of Kilmarnock FC contributor of course if that takes your fancy).
  16. Interesting to note that in Ingerlund various health bodies are warning the Government of an impending crisis unless action is taken now to combat the current rise in the impact of Covid. The PM has declared that the statistics tell him everything is fine, no need to panic, we're doing everything right. I suspect his top advisor is presently one Mr Cormack.
  17. Thanks for this @AndyM. A Christmas present suggestion for @Jacksgranda? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eddie-Turnbull-Having-Ball/dp/1845961870
  18. Absolutely this. The Donalds took a risk with him and it was the second best managerial risk they took. Turned the club in the right direction and heading for a long awaited Cup. The AFC George Kinnell obit (link back a page or so) tells a lot about the state of the club at that time. A great man and - as you say - underappreciated by history. But a Hibee.
  19. A fantastic read with some fine photos of memorable names (for those of a certain age, anyway). A bit like recent times, a squad which should have achieved so much more.
  20. Mr Cormack is doubtless waiting patiently for a well-known, experienced manager with great knowledge of the Scottish game and a myriad of contacts to be released from Ross County. A managerial swap mayhap - ensuring a tight competition for 11th and 12th league places.
  21. Indeed they do. One lad was punted after they asked which school he went to...
