  1. Can't disagree with that line up. Cameron will be fine in a midfield when he is pushed further up and he has two behind him breaking up play. Front 2 simply has to be Mellon and Bakayoko, I'm looking forward to seeing that partnership develop over the rest of the season.
  2. We were a good striker away from making a serious top 6 challenge and it now looks like we have that in Mellon. Not taking anything away from Bakayoko because I think he's been brilliant for us all season - but he needed help. That win was massive for us because it's a mentality shift, the players when going down to 10 and then conceding a penalty probably thought 'For f**k sake not again' but they dug in and responded so so well.
  3. Who the f**k do you think you are handing out compliments and having a serious conversation?
  4. Game moved to Sunday 11th February - 2pm. Common sense has prevailed.
  5. I like to learn at least something when we go away. Italy, Portugal and Greece in recent years faring slightly better in France because I knew some basic stuff. You're right, it's just the courteous thing to do - we would expect the same here.
  6. Good advice! I must admit the exact same thing crossed my mind. Interest in speaking and trying to hold a conversation only. I'll keep that in mind.
  7. Superb. In that case, I never meant what I said about your stadium. It's shit.
  8. I had us in for an outside shot for getting top 6 at the start of the season. It is undeniably just as possible to get dragged in to a fight for that 11th spot as well. I don’t think we will end up there but you never know. There has been a little bit of nervousness put back in to a lot of Dundee fans given the past few results but I’m not as worried. Doc has done a great job and realistically his remit at the start of the season was to build a competitive squad that finishes 10th or higher. Well on course to do that and possibly even more.
  9. A game of real importance for both teams. One I would say is more 'must win' for Livingston, clearly. Having said that, Dundee won't want to let this bad start to the year continue. A poor performance against Killie followed by a capitulation after superb first half v Hearts. I expect us to win, we should, but we all know fitba doesn't work like that. This isn't a game for Cameron and please don't pair Mcghee on the right wing with Ashcroft covering him as a right centre back again, Doc.
  10. All good ideas - thanks for that. I, much like you, have a thing about turning up to another country and not knowing even basic phrases. French appealed to me because for quite a few factors and I'm definitely not under any illusions that you need to be serious about it to get any kind of reward back. There are courses that are offered in Dundee which is a good start. I know a couple of people that have went off abroad to study a new language. One went to Salamanca where the tutors did not speak a word of English. A shock to the system but I've no doubt the best way to actually learn.
  11. Are we just keeping this thread going in the hope that it merges in to our next fixture in a couple weeks time...?
  12. I wanted to scratch up on my very, very basic knowledge of French and see how far I can take it. There are apps out there such as Duolingo, Babbel etc that seem pretty gimmicky but I'm sure they serve a purpose in learning something. Has anyone picked up a second language? If so how did you do it? Clearly the best way is to throw yourself in to the deep end and fully immerse yourself in the country...a luxury I can't afford. I suppose I already have a second language anyway living in Dundee...
  13. I don't think the budget and Mellon coming in is connected. Just a guess, but I think the benefit of this partnership will be that Burnley still pick up the players wages who come. I can see Mellon being announced this week at some point irrespective of Rudden finding a club or not.
  14. Are you talking about Hearts or us come the end of our own stadium debacle?
  15. Result aside, that was my first visit to Tynecastle. What a gaff - best in Scotland I'd say by a mile. I can only imagine the atmosphere in there when it is full. We were great first half, shite second. Hearts deserved it in the end. Nothing more to say.
  16. Yeah spot on mate RE Cameron. Too many times also he was easily shoved off the ball when we are trying to build momentum in the 2nd half. I thought Costelloe was brilliant in the first half but as bad as he was good in the 2nd. Terrible defensive error for their 2nd (Beck was culpable of similar for a few goals). I think positional awareness can be coached in to him though as I thought Beck got better at it.
  17. Yep totally agree. This season is as much about learning for Docherty as it is his players. He's been fantastic and it would be totally ridiculous to even question his position right now. That being said you can definitely criticise (constructively) some of the decisions he makes and teams he selects.
  18. We were fantastic in that first half. Game plan executed to a tee, Hearts with most of the possession but doing nothing with it as we defended excellently. For as good as we were in the first half, we were utter turgid in the second. A few things that annoyed me last night: - As soon as Hearts changed their shape, Docherty should react to that. More midfielders for them leaving ours exposed. - Docherty should have identified pretty much straight away that Cameron wasn't going to cut it in that 2nd half for us. We needed physicality and someone to break their play up. Cameron for their first was pathetic. Stepping a couple yards off the boy and just saying 'on you go mate' - Robinson should have been off at half time. Seems harsh to make changes at half time when you are 2-0 up but that was what we needed. If he comes off and we match them for players in midfield I think we do much better. Main didn't do much when he came on, but he couldn't they had the momentum with a goal and a penalty. - There's little signs of naivety in this side, they are young so you can accept it, but it needs addressed. For example, chasing an equaliser in injury time we win a throw in near the corner flag. Prime opportunity for a long throw in to the box but Cameron decides to take the throw in 15 yards further back? A lot of points dropped from winning positions now and it is a habit we need to shake very fast. A win against Livi on Saturday will make the pain of that one disappear fairly fast.
  19. Exactly and as it is, this agreement doesn't give Burnley the opportunity to buy our players on the cheap. There is nothing in that agreement that would suggest that.
  20. You're right. Players don't go down South for absolute pittance as it is already..
  21. A lot, lot more to the deal than that but not my place to say. Unless the people that do know want to post on here.
  22. Other than being slightly annoying sometimes, I don't get the hate for him or footy adventures. They talk up the Scottish game and I like that.
