  1. Local authorities will always come up with inventive ways to manipulate their perceived public purse I guess. You're right it might be the case that 1.9m is nothing compared to the money in turn they would receive in developer contributions, community facilities and creation of jobs. I wouldn't even begin to pretend to know how it all works but it just seemed strange to me that they would sell land to a developer only to give them money effectively straight back...offset gain and all that I suppose.
  2. Do you mean that the city council would receive 1.9m rather than Birmingham FC receiving that money from the council itself? Birmingham council were having to sell 750m worth of assets in order to balance their books. It looks like the owners bought the land off of them. Anyway - why I raise that question is that, similar to the Brum council, Dundee is having to pull themselves out of a massive financial hole. I couldn't see grants or investment at local level but government grants happen all the time with sports developments. Spurs, Man utd looking to receive funding and of course this one that you point out. I would think that Nelms & Keyes are actually relying on this type of grant/funding to make it financially viable at all. I think they've even conceded that previously.
  3. This point has probably been done to death over the course of this thread but I listened to an almost full airing of sportsound on Saturday and it is quite the hard listen isn't it? We continuously talk about our game needing to be hyped up put in to positive light but all you get from the commentators is 'a poor game this is, nothing to see here'. It's so fucking frustrating. I guarantee these bozo's were the first ones to jump down Derek Adams' throat when he brought up the standard of the game too. No wonder there is no real investment or hype about our game. If they were to have one listen to these duffers whinging about everything then they would rightly run in the opposite direction.
  4. Docherty has been 'assured' the game will be on...make of that what you will. I have no confidence, but then again I didn't think Saturday would be on either.
  5. Hope it's off just to see every single Rainjurs fans head explode in to tiny pieces. Honestly the presence of the Peepul on every social media outlet when they post about Dundee is hilarious and pathetic all at the same time. They have to always feel attacked or like something is against them.
  6. I think we can. I'm not confident, obviously, with getting anything against Rangers. We just don't do results against the old firm - not lately anyway. I can see us going up to Aberdeen and getting a win or a draw, they are a very fragile team right now. I wouldn't bet on Hibs going to Motherwell and getting a win, especially with Motherwell still in contention. A draw is the ideal result for us in that game so long as we take care of our business. I get the disappointment, to be honest I'm pretty fed up of the amount of points we have lost from winning positions. I know the goalposts shift throughout the season given the circumstances we find ourselves in over the course of it. I would be disappointed if we didn't get top 6 now because, despite all of the points dropped, I believe we deserve to finish there. I'd take disappointment in not reaching the top 6 over the sheer depression of constantly fighting for premiership status though. We can say what we want about Docherty but the team he has built has been equally as impressive as it has been frustrating. It shows you how far we've progressed since the chaos of almost making a mess of the championship last season. If you ask me, the players are equally as culpable for another arse collapse as the manager is. It goes hand in hand. You go 2-0 up and you expect your team to manage the game out. Bottom line/TL:DR - top 6 is still in our hands and I'd rather that then being a St Johnstone, Ross County or Livingston...which over the course of the past few seasons we have been accustomed to being WORSE than.
  7. I imagine, though clearly I don't know, that Tannadice drains down on to Arklay street then drains on to Dens Road - whilst part of the same system not directly connected to the issue.
  8. Exactly. Every game that's been called off has been because a referee has deemed it to be unsafe, barring the ones that were meant to be played during a storm...
  9. Wait until they find out we borrowed Celtics covers for the pitch...
  10. Dundee give over the whole of the Shankly (3000/3500?) and part of the mainstand. Would St Johnstone not still be in control of who gets what? I.E a 3 stands to Rangers type scenario again...
  11. Injuries and to attempt to get our pitch in order. Clearly it was convenient for both clubs..
  12. No one except for the club would have known if they game could have been played last night but our track record this season any time it has dared to rain would suggest that it would have been unplayable. Which, again, would have provided more embarrassment to an already embarrassing situation.
  13. At least when you get relegated there's a chance Mcdiarmid might still see Premiership football next season... In all seriousness, yes, it's embarrassing. It definitely can also be fixed, I can't remember seeing claims from Dundee fans to suggest otherwise, but that may be because I've just missed that. The issue was before that Nelms & co weren't prepared to spend the money to ensure it was fixed, their hand will be forced now by the looks of it. Is it a good look in the same week we announced considerable increases to our season ticket prices? No not at all. Dundee fans need to take this one on the chin and say to our club that they aren't doing right by us (and visiting fans for that matter) and to get it fixed.
  14. Can't help but feel we are doing a massive injustice to our playing squad and their good season so far. Rumours of having to switch stadiums to get a game on, whether unfounded or not, really aren't doing the look of our club any favours at all. Put that together with a considerable increase in season tickets a few days ago...ffs.
  15. Exactly...this part of the statement basically suggests that: 'The club are in regular discussions with the league but no decision to move the match away from the Scot Foam Stadium has been made'
  16. Surprised if this game or the Rangers game goes ahead. And given our record this season it'll take a minor miracle for both to be on. No doubt the Peepul will ensure that this game is the one to take the bullet. Can't even begin to think about predictions or talking about a game of football as I've genuinely no confidence in actually being in the stand to witness one come Saturday.
  17. You'd imagine Utd would be category A. I would guess that each category is based on attendance, including how many away fans there will be, and the category actually means how much money they'll try to recoup from stewarding and policing costs...Could be wrong on that. You'd think by that logic the only 'category C' team that would be left in the league, if they stay up, is Ross County.
  18. This is taken from the website for the start of this season as to who they define in each category... 23/24 Cinch Premiership Home Match Ticket Prices Category A matches Adults – £32 Concessions – £20 Under 12’s – £6 (Teams included in Category A matches are, Celtic and Rangers) Category B matches: Adults – £26 Concessions – £16 Under 12’s – £4 (Teams included in Category B matches are, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Motherwell, Ross County, St Johnstone and St Mirren)
  19. Yep and ties in with the increase for Category C games to £26 quid. The super early bird (I fucking hate these terminologies btw) would be an increase on last seasons but a reduction on that £26 a game down to circa £22. No matter what way you look at it...it's a ridiculous price.
  20. Pretty much. And why would they be up for changing it anyway? By having this system they get exactly what they want. Everyone outwith the old firm in the top league gets thrown the crumb of top 6 as a marker of success. Or, if you're really lucky, a shot at Europe.
  21. Yep, pretty much where I am at as well. They can't seriously think that the regular punter has this sort of money to stump up given everything that is going on... The U12's pricing is just farcical. What a way to entice the youngsters in.
  22. https://dundeefc.co.uk/news/24-25-season-tickets-on-sale/ Disappointing increases in price of next years season tickets. I get that the 'super' early bird is only 20 quid more expensive but no club in Scottish football should be charging over £400 quid. Walk in prices on the day for an adult: Category A games - £33 Category B games - £30 Category C games - £26 I mean...come on...
  23. I’d prefer to wait until all their fans and board members are within a ba-hair of Dundee before saying anything to be honest.
