I followed Berwick during our season of doom when Robbie left and Johnny was appointed which (as we know) ended up in relegation. I have made my thoughts very clear on here in the past about my feelings towards Mr Harvey and I can see in this thread that others have very similar opinions to mine. COVIDHARVEY. On the opposite side of the scale, I've actually stuck up for Hammill in the past on here. a family member of mine is "connected" to Musselburgh and he spoke very highly of Joe, both as a person and as a manager, Big on playing football the right way. I think he had a lot on his plate near the end of his time in charge both on a personal level and from the club/support. As we know it's a results-driven business and the results for him at Musselburgh at the end of his reign didn't quite go his way and that's what he'll more so be judged on. Im not going to say he's the right man for the Nitten job, but not going to say he's not either. I used to love my visits as a youth up to the old victoria park with my uncle Jock in the late 80's/early 90's so I may have a bit of a soft spot for Nitten, I hope they do well in the years to come.

Credit to Hawick, The question is.... when does this horrific spell end for the vale? do they just keep going at this pace getting pumped week in, week out? relegated season in, season out until they are at a level to be able to compete? Do they require a major cash injection to end this all and attract more high-spec players to the club? does the committee require some fresh faces onboard with fresh ideas how to take the club forward? I'd say management but they have gone through their fair share of these already. i understand its easy for me to sit here and type this saying "do they need more money" "new players" etc and actually following through with this is by no means an easy task, it is however becoming more and more obvious just how much money is starting to talk at this level. The vale is a club that has been around for years with a great history, to see them now like this is a real tragedy for this level of football. I for one hope they can make some impactful changes that allows them to turn this corner. i suppose once you've hit rock bottom, the only way is up but best of luck to them.

Players are contracted to the club, not the manager. If he was to leave the club tomorrow players couldn't surely just up sticks and leave, they would have to see out the remainder of their contract with the club or be transfer listed for a fee. A new manager coming in might not even want those players anyway and would be happy to cash in on them and pull his own side together. If Chris King did say this about his players, its a bit of an arrogant statement to make and I can see why this threat would hit a nerve with nitten supporters.

Lothian have played a few games more and if teams below pick up points with their games in hand then they too could be in a bit of trouble.

Offft that looks a tight one for me, a few mates were at the game and said that Haddington should have taken all 3x points and that penicuik look a shell of a side they once were. It's maybe not fair me saying that as i was not there and that's their opinions.

I agree, it is a shame that there are not more border clubs in the EOS leagues but over recent years borders clubs don't tend to excel and actually have history of going in the other direction. You only have to look at the likes of Duns, Selkirk, Kelso utd and also Eyemouth who have all had been part of the EOS setup but had to leave the league. Vale are on the down fall now, However the likes of Peebles, Coldstream, Hawick and Tweedmouth all seem to be holding their own playing at their level but i dont see much chance of either of them moving up the leagues. The exception is obviously Gala and i do recall the vale & peebles having a good spell under rab paget years ago but this was because they attracted players from Edinburgh down & spending big cash. Clubs like Chirnside, Duns even Greenlaw and West Linton would be good additions to the EOS leagues but is it worth the financial debt to potentially achieve not an awful lot. Agree on the Pub part.

Who is in the running for the job now then? i just noticed it was another defeat for them at the weekend there and by looking at the league table with so many of the teams below them with games in hand Leith could very easily end up in a relegation battle.

The club have not actively came out and said they are looking to interview for the position so you would assume that Scotty has the gig for the time being.

Harvey REALLY !!! Is he the answer? Personally I would have kept Stevie rather than bringing in Johnny Harvey he is not a step up in my opinion.

From the outside looking in, I would imagine the committee at the club have a managerial plan up their sleeve, if not then why have they not advertise the job to test the water and see who shows interest in the role.

My money would be on Lothian. Up until now, They have been too inconsistent with results to survive, I think a few clubs (and managers) have sighed relief that Vale and Oakley are in that league this season.

Yeah 3x down and 3x up, I think with the current form of VOL and Oakley this season, Broxburn should be fine to avoid that last 3rd relegation spot but I also said I felt with their squad should be challenging in the top 3 haha.

Very fair point, Aiden Walsh will & has left a very big void in that squad to fill, therefore there must be a bit of budget available from that sale at Stevie's disposal to go out and do a bit of business to replace him? No? This is going to sound like im all out attack against the cuiky now but in all honesty, after recent twitter browsing, I have to say i found it very odd to see that for a club (penicuik) to preach on about how much their squad is depleted by injuries that they are sending out experienced players on loan to fellow premier league clubs (o'donnell to tynie) what was the reasoning behind that one? surely if tynie are taking him in on-loan then that is to play, if he's fit enough to play for Tynie in the premier league then surely he's fit enough for Penicuik. I agree with the Jeanfield comment, they too are very much under performing from what i expected from them this season. Always a hard place to go to but they are struggling a bit on the road this year.

There are obviously certain people on here these days just out fishing to get bites, I get that but in all fairness his comments does come off the back of what should be a title challenging side leaving the cup with a 2-1 defeat against Coldstream !!! I get there have been injuries for Stevie this season but it’s his job to build a squad with enough depth to handle these situations, I'm sure there will be a big named striker inbound shortly judging by his after match comments, which may help turn his season around. but for me, penicuik have fallen short on too many occasions already this season.
