  1. Could we not just go with..

Round 1: 7 LL, 7 HL and 10 League2 (24–>12) with League2 teams, Berwick Rangers and EK seeded

    Round 2: 12 R1, 10 League1, 10 Championship (32–>16)

Call it the Neil Doncaster is a Cockwomble Challenge Cup and get on with it without the carry on of having colts and other teams involved?

Who knows: twitters haven't posted since March and February respectively, neither has a website, Golspie's FB doesn't post, Strathspey's just calls it a friendly. Still town crier and carrier-pigeon "up north"?!

    It is in Golspie!

My secret hide-out when I lived up there, 43 miles for a decent chippy and always great craic! Love the place ❤️

Ray Parlour called the draw between AFC Wimbledon and Milton Keynes a derby. Honestly? He really has no clue what a derby is, because this is definitely not one.

As long as the real Dons absolutely hump them!

Blackpool vs Macc. Town will be interesting, as will Charlton vs FGR... but Salford vs Leeds is the tie of the round imo

There is actually another game tonight Golspie v Strathspey (which is even more surprising as the North Caledonian season doesn't usually start until late into August).

Anything to do with the Golspie gala day? Don’t know when that is but would make some sense...

True story! They were never in Bonnyrigg’s league so completely passed me by as I never had much interest outwith... Bathgate were always my guilty pleasure growing up 🤫

Saw Whitburn at NDP once but apart from that my non league upbringing was WW and the Borders teams as I could occasionally watch them in the Scottish Cup as a boy... oh, and Nitten Star and Arniston Rangers, both for different reasons ❤️

    Possibly 🤣

Especially the “big” West Lothian clubs... surely it will hit home when wee Blackburn are in the Scottish Cup draw and the previously much admired (by me growing up anyway) Bathgate and Whitburn are playing the same teams for the 2nd of possibly 6 times this season in front of no one... shame. Would have genuinely loved them to have been involved and see how they faired, but that will be ignored because I’m just a big bad senior Fitba lover... whatever the f**k that means 😪

Updated again, including swathe of new games and Kinnoull.

Tragically the game on Sunday 7th July isn't Tweedmouth v Cromarty: it's Kieran Cromarty's testimonial involving Tweedmouth emoji38.png!

There was me thinking the Delorean was getting busted out for a spin as the only club from the village of Cromarty I could find folded in 1889

I’ve seen Cromarty play! They used to put a team in the Ross-Shire Welfare league. Would’ve been 2009ish, don’t know if they still do though

Oh, and hoping to do the drive up and back via The Cairngorms, as that sounds better thna the A road that goes up past Aberdeen?

If anyone can recommend stuff to see, ways to amuse Children (12, 11, 8 ) near Forfar / Dundee / Perth / Elgin, then please let me know! 🙂

I also like real ale, so pub recommendations wouldn't hurt! LOL

Plenty of sick bags if you are taking them over the Cairngorms road...

Plenty of interesting wee places to stop and go for a wee walk to let them stretch their legs. Best 4g signal (only one on that road!) is about half a mile south of the Lecht ski centre in the lay-by on the left but no radio or anything most of the way so take plenty of offline entertainment 👍

Thanks, not got admin rights but I'll have a look.

Try clearing the history, cookies n that ... just don’t do what I did and clear all the work-related bookmarks I really needed! F**king nightmare trying to get it all set up again, don’t think anyone noticed though :death

  10. It’s almost impossible as a keeper to be completely on your line at that moment, every instinct ingrained in you from 5 year old makes you take a step (or 3!) forward to be able to dive and meet the ball properly... more proof that the rules are made up by folk who haven’t played or been in that position before

  11. Wow, they done a good job! I went to the school there before they moved across the road too, decent pitch then. The ammies and the school team used to play at Gavinton when I was there but it was a shocking pitch and miles away from anything

EDIT: That pitch they’re at now used to be the hockey pitch, and that tree in the background of the bottom pic... well if it could tell a story n that :whistle

I always said Welfare should have put a bid in for the big Meadowbank lights and put Rosewell on the map

On the map?! They’d light half of Midlothian with them, the neighbours would have an absolute meltdown  😂

From what I hear Eyemouth hope to assemble a new side next year and promote from their youth setup. Duns said the same (and had amateurs) but they've not thrown-in-the-towel, tbf.

I think one or the other would be the sensible option... f**k it just get Chirnside in there instead, better than them both anyway ❤️:whistle

Serious question though... Were Duns EoS playing at Gavinton? Never seemed like an ideal place tbh

  14. I’m bored now, they can do what they want... play on cinder pitches and pretend it’s 1970 for all I care. Wonder why our national team are a laughing stock and we are rules by Boris Johnston and his Westminster crew... it all makes sense to me now.

I must just be too young and naive to know better 🙄

Who’s to know until somebody bothers trying?!

Instead of the constant, “what if”s and “but what about that”... you’ve got to start somewhere (the EoS did once upon a time, as did the LL!) but most people prefer to have an attitude of, “ach but we can’t have this and there won’t be that”... better not to bother putting a team out at all then. Safest option! 👍

  16. 2 hours ago, FairWeatherFan said:

The EoS had an established board experienced with running a league within sfa rules, existing cups and sponsors.

A splinter WoS has none of that and what remains of the West juniors would probably be stronger and pull more attention than the upstart league.

Are you trying to say there isn’t ANYONE in the west of Scotland with the brain power and expertise to follow what the EoS board have already shown to be possible and set the thing up themselves?

    Eh, no there’s not... 😂

Only interesting thing on it is the soon-to-be demise of Cambuslang and possibly Maryhill... What’s your thoughts seeing as you spend most your time here sponging info off this forum?

  18. Get the EoS league to run the new WoS league, they have proven that all these “issues” can easily be dealt with with integrity and sense... they could’ve had ALL the problems listed above with the unpredictable amount of new applicants they have had to deal with and haven’t! Strange that :whistle

Worth remembering that the highland league has a full compliment of teams with floodlights and they play mid-week matches throughout the season in both cups and league to ensure the completion of the league. It’s the HFL and their 18 team league and cups that are pushing for the removal of replays in the Scottish Cup and pushed back the end of season playoffs due to fixture congestion.

Have you seen the weather up there in the winter, the 3 months-worth of games called off, the travelling, the fact it’s a bit of a mafia and of amount silly cups the teams up there enter into?

Not really a great example tbh...

There’s no reason why teams at tier 6 to 8 cannot play 38 league games in a season in the west of Scotland, if they are scheduled sensibly. Some amateur teams (edited) manage a similar amount of games...

But again, we are talking of the extreme... it may (and should) never come to that if the people running the league act sensibly
