You'll be happy to hear this year's rumour is a return of Bonar Bridge. They last played in the 2010-11 season.

Brilliant new! Hopefully they’ll produce another Billy Ferris :thumsup2

Regarding the Skye situation, you are all probably right but the summer amateur league there is very run and the banter/rivalry seems to be a little more deeper than in other places. Although if they were to make a ‘select’ team, the other NCL teams better watch out because it would be very competitive if not, a league winner. The amateurs seems to always do well enough in the highland cup

Orkney FC play in the North Caley League, and were champions in 2017/18, but  3rd in 2018/19.  Shetland FC and Lewis & Harris FC both play in one or two NCL cup competitions, subject to weather. Skye surprisingly don't participate in any.

A subsidy from the SFA to fund Scottish Cup entry, would be unlikely, as the northern and western isles are 'far away o'er the sea'.   Shame though, as it would be a great away day (or weekend) for fans.

Think the reason Skye don’t have a ‘senior’ team is that there is a very healthy, old rivalry between all the amateur clubs. Don’t know if you could unite the North and South of the island tbh, there’s 4 decent amateur teams on the island and Kyle just off it who enjoy a good ding-dong every summer. A senior team would dilute that somewhat

So looks like the SoS remains a 16 team league next year but with an Edusport reserve side replacing Annan reserves.

It'll also mean another "West of Scotland" club in the league as Edusport reserves will also be playing out of the new Alliance Park rather than continuing to groundshare down at Annan.

So... should the SoS league rebrand? Get rid of the reserve teams after next season and invite any west of Scotland team (junior or amateur) to join if they want, I’m thinking Clydebank for starters and take it from there. Would it cause the avalanche we saw in the east last year?

1500 Pentland Utd v High Ormlie Hotspur
    1500 Sleat & Strath v Balloan
    1500 Stornoway Athletic v Kyleakin

Potentially still some changes, exact venue for Barra v Wick Groats to be confirmed, but will be on Skye. Stornoway Athletic v Kyleakin, time may change.

Blackrock vs Maryburgh will be tasty!

What sort of team do Contin have this year? They can be hit or miss from what I’ve seen. Hopefully they’ll give Avoch a decent game and Belmac can’t be happy at having to make Wick for a 7pm ko on a Friday, unless it was them who requested it. Then there’s Lerwick Spurs v Kirkwall Hotspurs oooft!

Getting absolutely rinsed here, got to say I deserve it! Long story short, I’ll be going to watch Brora as it’s more affordable travel wise, they do coaches to away games too.

I suffer from social anxiety so I’d struggle quite badly in large places like Inverness station etc - I should’ve thought of this before showing interest in going to Forres / Nairn. I’ll probably get stick for opening up about that too, but that’s fine - I’d rather be open about these things.

Thanks to everyone for their input on the away travel & I’m sorry for wasting everyone’s time - that goes to the Forres & Nairn supporters too.

You’ve asked a very relevant question, I’m sure the info on this thread will be useful to more folk in the future.

I know exactly how you feel too... it all seems like a great idea til the time! I couldn’t face even getting on a bus, even at the game you’ll find me quietly hiding in the corner... then I get on P&B and find my voice! :1eye;)

Not really, easiest job in the country.

Any of the 42 SPFL managers could have done what he’s done.

And this is exactly why his situation, and the way he has dealt with it,  this season has been so impressive in my view. No matter what he did, he was never going to win in a lot of people’s eyes. Fair enough, we all have our opinions and I may be talking bollocks! ;)

Watching A View From The Terrace, and they picked Whitehill's goal against Edinburgh Uni as the Scottish Cup goal of the season. It is an absolute peach

Ferguson Park looking a lot nicer than last time I saw it. Oh and what a strike! 8)

I have to admit, this is f**king genius! It took a bit of working out, but stunningly fit-for-purpose.

Whoever dreamt that up deserves Administrator of the Decade right now! As a maths buff, I can only describe it as “beautiful”... I failed English miserably though so someone might come up with better

    A  minor issue:

Coltness United don't exist any more - they became Newmains United - you have both in it.

I know, I’m just down the road from them, wondered if anyone would notice! They are back though, playing in the Airdrie and Coatbridge Amateur League and seem to have some ambition... even get a mention on the road sign on the way into Coltness. I would show proof but Google Maps haven’t updated since the sign went up. Newmains is a lovely ground too, possibly my new local team. Promised myself I’d visit for a game or 2 next season, although they better improve a bit :whistle

Can you imagine if the juniors were in at tier 6 and tj was running all the cup competitions, like some suggested would be the case... Iceland would make at least 20p profit from all the carrier bags.....

Can I point out, I was only joking when I said tj Should run it! The reaction was funnier than the comment though, I must not have been the first to say it

Wind yer neck in bud,the SHFL has been on the go since 1893 and has always been a competitive league, yeah it's had it's dominant teams at times,Caledonian,Elgin and more recently Cove but it's a hard fought league for anyone to win.

With Cove gone it's gonna be a tussle for the title next season!!

Agree with BM,if BoD have declined  membership then I would give them until this time next season to change they're minds or the licence is taken from them!!

Yeah the top 6 will be brilliant, I agree. There’s another 11 teams who even before the season starts, have nothing but the cups and maybe finishing a place higher than “a” to look forwards to. Not even a relegation place to avoid.

I am aware of the great history, I’ve always said I would love it to find it’s spark again, but as an outsider looking in, it hasn’t moved with the times. Plus the Juniors and the SFA are just as old, and look how they are being run right now

First of all, I totally agree that this idea should be booted.

But from arguements sake, what if...

Any club wishing the play a “Colts” team, must register the team as a completely different club, that ground share with their parent club. No mid-season (out of window) transfers between Parent and Colt teams. Therefore passing any entry requirements for unto tier 6, while, due to ground sharing and obvious other issues, wouldn’t be eligible for tier 5 or above...or any cups that their parent teams are already in.

I think Stirling Uni have a similar set up for their EoS team

Obviously the Highlands only have down to tier 5, so until they sort it out and create a tier 6 and below, ICT will just have to wait. Unless the HL want to be tier 6 and all north teams are invited into a new tier 5 which initially can run with as many/little teams necessary and will allow a year or 2 for teams that aren’t licensed already to get one...

I really think if something really radical happened, you’ll find a lot of Aberdeenshire/ Tayside clubs are more interested than they are currently letting on

  13. 1 hour ago, Cyclizine said:

Bollocks. It'll be a competitive league next season. What exactly do you want the HFL to do? They can't reduce their entry criteria. It's up to the NCL, NRJFA and North of Tay ERJFA clubs to decide if they fancy a step up. No-one should be forcing them, the North clubs are amateurs in all but name and the ERJFA clubs don't care. I'm all for a pyramid, but if the clubs don't care, or don't think it worthwhile, there's no way they should be forced into someone's fantasy structure against their will.

They could lower their entry criteria if they created a tier 6...

Then allow promotion/relegation with all the perks of the current HL for the licensed clubs that are involved within 2 stronger 10 team leagues

    Something like this...

I've seen worse but if you go to all that trouble of creating a fantasy pyramid you might as well integrate the SoS with the West.

I was kind of hoping it would die a noble death and incorporate itself into the Southwest/Ayrshire setup at tier 8 that only has 9 teams, so potential for plenty of more.

In an ideal world I would’ve got rid, but they still serve a purpose

  15. And nobody has picked up on the fact I’m a Penicuik boy, and gave Lithgae the 18th place in LL.

Another thing I normally wouldn’t have done, but after hearing about LR’s early license application and wording on joining the pyramid (before anyone knew what it was!), I feel they deserved the 18th spot ahead of Penicuik/Broxburn
