  1. Inspired by the Eurosport show, this will be a thread full of highlights from the European leagues. Similar to Other Football Leagues but dedicated to the highlights from any and every league that doesn't have it on own thread: Austrian Bundesliga Swiss Super League Danish Superliga Polish Ekstaklasa Belgium Juplier League
  2. Tbf anyone can beat Dundee On this debate of size of club, Arbroath are currently a larger club than Cove no question - having seen both this season. Although its clear that Cove have intentions and realistic ambition to be larger than Arbroath in the next 5-10 years. It looks like they may will be, size of home support is similar, Cove have larger catchment and oil money helping them.
  3. Tempted to go see Niteworks at the Lemontree in Aberdeen on Saturday night.
  4. What's the deal for live TV this season? On the Eredivisie official website they have no live broadcaster for the UK listed. https://eredivisie.nl/en-us/Broadcasters-map However, Premier Sports claims to be the broadcaster, yet I haven't seen them broadcast one live match this season on either of their channels or Freesports (which has a pretty barren schedule in itself). Although, they have shown one or two full match replays.
  5. Rudan is toil leinn fhaicinn Translate?
  6. Realistically, the smart thing for the SFA to do is that they bring in an Entry Plus Standard which requires seating etc and would be the minimum for SPFL2 and is required within 3 seasons for HL and LL. It raises standards but it also doesn't financially burden smaller clubs with never-ending infrastructure costs.
  7. I'm a big advocate for making the second tier 14 clubs (39 game season), this would be to ensure that all full-time clubs are more likely to stay in the division and it may give sides such as Morton, Raith etc more security in remaining a full-time side, and it could allow the likes of Alloa and possibly Cove in future to become Full-Time. It also would provide the SPFL with four extra clubs, which could really add to the leagues. Inverurie, Buckie, Bonnyrigg and Kelty for example.
  8. This. Lawrence Shankland >>>>>> Oli McBurnie
  9. Teams were also running at £2m a season losses. That's before my time so I can't really vouch for how good the league was then, but the OP was suggesting that this season was the worst ever, which is quite frankly bull. Also worth noting there was only 10 teams in the Premier Division back then, so of course the quality of the second tier would be better.
  10. Think this has 7.05pm BBC Scotland Friday Night written all over it. Can't wait to boo Scott Allan for 90 minutes.
  11. Completely unrelated but Australia once lost a war to emus.
  12. I keep on getting ads for random shit as well, then I decided to stop using Facebook. f**k Mark Zuckerberg. f**k that guy. He's a c**t.
  13. This. I don't think anyone in this thread (me included) has gone and watched a full 90 minute replay from the "glory period" of the First Division. Part of the reason the second tier may be declining, is of course down to the increased professionalism of part-time sides, the increasing ability of non-league sides and finally the anomaly of having Rangers, Hibs, Hearts in the division. I could point to many seasons for instance 2010-11, 11-12 etc. where the First Division was just a turgid as it is now. However, I would point out that the Scottish Championship is probably in the top 10 second tiers in Europe. In terms of crowds, only Germany, England, France, Spain, Italy have consistently higher attendances. Russia and the Netherlands have similar crowds.
  14. Heading to Inverurie Locos vs Broxburn this afternoon, looks like it'll be interesting. Magic of the Cup
  15. Hungary and Romania can't both qualify - they're both in the A Play-off Path with Iceland and Bulgaria Azerbaijan are already eliminated. The Republic of Ireland are also in the B - Playoff Path
  16. They've left that very vague. Tbf they'll be joining the 10 second placed sides in the playoffs so there's not like there's a set path. I think for WC Qualifying the Nations League will be there to ensure that it's harder for Italy or the Netherlands to miss out on the World Cup. Obviously this will probably change when the tournament is increased to 48 teams for 2026.
  17. Really glad they haven't punted it on to the Red Button. Will be class. Absolutely loved last years final.
  18. Would like to say that the next Nations League, which starts in September 2020 has had a format change. League A is of 16 Nations (up from 12) League B is of 16 Nations (up from 12) - Scotland will second seeds in a group. League C is of 16 nations (up from 15) League D is of 7 Nations (down from 16) - Will be the Proper Diddy League. The Top Two Non-Play-off qualifiers for Qatar, will enter the Play-offs for 2022. This format also means that only the top 3 Leagues will have a Play-off Path for the Euros in 2024. As Germany will automatically qualify as host.
  19. Just stuck a fiver at 5/1 on the Rose. In tae these Angus c***s.
  20. I would really recommend Evan Hadfield's (son of the Canadian Astronaut) series Rare Earth has some amazing stories about a lot of the places listed.
  21. Glad they're not doing this Europe-wide format ever again. Have it between 1-3 Host Nations, just don't give us this omnishambles again.
  22. He had a man crush on Napoleon and declared war on Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil simultaneously. Surprisingly he was winning for 3 months. If he had just picked one country to invade, Paraguay might have won.
