  1. Simply awesome images @Boo Khaki, thank you for that. Probably take me weeks to watch it all, mostly before my time however, lol. Developed an interest in Dundee images from my Grandparents who always had a collection of 'Auld Dundee' books to reach for and read when I was a youngster. Having moved from near Dens Park to Broughty Ferry in the mid 70's at the age of 10 I still retain a sense of pride my elder brother and I chose to remain at Clepington Primary and Morgan Academy respectively. I like to believe it provided an edge over many poncey plebs in future life, which it did in fairness, lol. Also having spent the thick end of my working life around the streets of Dundee I wish I had carried a camera to capture the changes like the fellow who took the image below whilst working our patch. His collection is currently on Flickr. Regards
  2. EXCLUSIVE: Burnley are in talks about a talent-share agreement with Scottish side Dundee... as owners ALK Capital look to land a feeder club to boost Vincent Kompany's side | Daily Mail Online Assume Charlie Adam, as current Burnley Loan Manager will be busy on the M6 driving them up here. At his own admission he virtually had to drive our existing loanee Marcel Lewis himself to convince him to come here. Jeezo, a young man who has achieved the square root of sod all in senior football, allegedly raising his eyebrows at a move to Dens Park. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some of these guys are talented, very wealthy young players. However I'd far sooner personally have more Luke McCowan's or Charlie Reilly's who are naturally talented, and more importantly hungry to make their mark in Scottish football, at Dens Park. If "Vincent Kompany's Burnley", (as the pundits prefer to call them) have an Owen Beck up their sleeve, rest assured he'd be playing in The Premiership down there for them. If gold nuggets like Owen Beck become available in England, grab 'em, however let the likes of Burnley FC develop their own players and we'll do the same. If Tim Keyes is wishing to sell a partial share in our club to ALK Capital (who are Burnleys owners), please enlighten us with your thoughts my man or alternatively discredit this press release. Merely my opinion.
  3. Central defensive threesome were wholly competent last night imho, against in fairness, a cute, sly and underhanded however experienced opposition. Pinida to start upfront on Saturday and the young vibrant attitude that is Charlie Reilly playing minimum the opening 60 mins operating diagonally/wide behind him as our main out ball. Our number 9 Bakayoko appears on, for whatever reason a downward career spiral and requires to show a considerable improvement to his application and attitude to continue any starting selection. Zak Rudden also appears to be the new Danny Mullen, nowt wrong with that, however sometimes hard work is disappointingly not enough. Our main strength remains within the true defensive core, whatever we can build upon that is all to the good, again imho. Thank you. PS, welcome back young Finlay, did not look out of place against lesser top league opposition.
  4. Totally agree, hopefully the weather forecasters are wide of the mark. Looking forward to the game tomorrow. The image below should bring them to their senses, lol. Regards
  5. Good to hear that, just what 'The Good Doctor' ordered, the team collective stronger and even wiser with each game. Looking forward to watching nowt less than securing 3 points next weekend at Dens against Ross County, especially with the central defensive options improving by the week and Tom, sorry Trevor Carson being the best custodian since Robert Douglas, first time around that is, imho.
  6. Valid comment Spudgun thank you, I bow to your greater, alternative Aberdeen FC knowledge which I respect as always. This is regarding Willie Miller who is THE Aberdeen FC playing icon in the whole history of the club, then inheriting as manager the already relatively successful Alex Smith and Jocky Scott playing squad and then, after his best efforts was emptied as club manager for Roy fucking Aitken, crikey-me-no-likey if I'm very honest. Struggled to type this one as I couldn't give with all due respect, a solitary monkey's chuff regarding Aberdeen Football Club or any other club for that matter. Except Mrs TCM's beloved Stoke City, I know my place! Respect to the decent Aberdeen posters on here, of which there are many. However I start and finish as Dark Blue, just me I'm afraid. Regards as always.
  7. Agree also @Fifespud, 'The Doc' will also know how precious every point is in this league and will also be hurting this evening. Willie Miller, superb defender he was back in the day, however mediocre to shite manager at his peak, so I'll ignore his expert opinions for the time being. Let's be clear though as you correctly say, two points splaffed today, lessons to be learned all round. 'The Doc' will deliver improvement above that which we're used to, it's a team game to be fair and they're all still learning how to react and play alongside each other. Good times for a change. Thank you
  8. Yeah, agree totally with that Biggie. Healthy position to be in being very disappointed x10 at dropping 2 points today at Perth. However I'm sure we'd all agree, this season is shaping up to be 'head and shoulders' above the calamities of the top league latter tenure of Paul Hartley and then the McCann, McIntyre, McPake and McGhee collective experience which was not pleasant, competent or memorable in any shape or form, imho. At some point John Nelms' had to come good, (we won't mention the Callum Davidson thoughts, ffs) and thank you also to Tim Keyes, as very unlike the Dab's American owner he is not constantly speaking about the departure lounge back to the 'land of the free', lol. For those of a certain vintage, 'The Doc' is giving off positive Archie Knox-esque vibes, again imho. Still, he's very much learning about who he has available at his disposal and their respective strengths, however the early signs are looking more than decent. Regards
  9. It would be a yes from me, leading by example only being 32 years of age whilst teaching the young guys how to operate upfront in their chosen trade. He was club captain last season at Tranmere Rovers playing 44 games (Wiki), however now a new manager makes sweeping changes, it happens. Potentially maybe unfinished business at Dens Park, following his last spell during the disastrous period under James McPake's managerial tenure, who knows? Merely my opinion.
  10. Graham heads out on loan - Dundee Football Club - Official Website (dundeefc.co.uk) Luke Graham off to Montrose on loan until January, good luck to the young man.
  11. Genuine apologies @Dee Man for the unintentional reminder. Indeed apologies to all for the needless hi-vis image, although I still think the book is a decent read however. In my defence and I realise it's not a defence, my postings usually are better later on in the evening, after a few malts that is, imho. Regards
  12. Received the book below as a gift a few years back from my best mate and fellow Dee who introduced me to P & B. Thoroughly recommend it, certainly helped me with threads such as this.
  13. Recall the game in May 1986 as a 21 year old hoping for a victory taking us onto UEFA Cup qualification, nowt more or less tbh having also attended the 1-1 draw at Tynecastle with us which indeed started the massive Hearts undefeated run of games, the previous October I think. I get all the Albert Kidd nonsense and subsequent banter, however to Dee's of a similar vintage, @Bigmouth Strikes Again, @DeeTillEhDeh and @Fifespud to name but a few, do you recall (if at this game) anything as loud as the Heart's Song being sung prior to kickoff? The stadium was vibrating, I shit you not! Check out the snap of the away 'TC Keay End' crowd as Kidd scored, 19,500 attended that game. Wish we'd achieved European football that day and also Hearts had won the league, merely my honest opinion. Regards
  14. As a 10 year old we moved house from near Dens Park to Broughty Ferry. Didn't know anyone as insisted upon staying at Clepington Primary, then later onto Morgan Academy. However on the bright side, Dave MacKinnon bought a house a few doors up after signing from Arsenal on a free transfer, pretty fucking cool to a 10 year old Dark Blue I can tell you. Graham Harvey, never seen anyone before or since lead a front line single-handedly when required with such ease. The out-ball stuck to him, held it up then brought others to the party at will. Good goalscorer also and had he possessed any pace and indeed work ethic would arguably have been the most complete striker I'd seen play for us. Recall a cup-tie replay at Tannadice, we're 2 - 0 down, Graham Harvey comes on, brings it back to 2 - 2 and then into extra time. Goes on to score again putting us 3 - 2 up, referee running back to centre circle until Hegarty and/or Narey fucking creating a salty scene and the goal is disallowed. That Dundee United team of the 80's were good, however the Archie Knox and Jocky Scott era weren't too shabby either, imho.
  15. For sure Spudgun, without checking the interweb I recall it finished 3 - 2 and one of the goals was a maybe a penalty? Also recall a 1 - 0 victory over Old Rangers when Brown scored with about 3 minutes left. That day my friends father was on holiday so I had the spare ticket in the posh seats, centre main stand, virtually at the front. Back then you'll remember the stand enclosure was given on occasion to the away club for standing only and when the ball hit the net at the Provie Road end needless to say we went wild. Next thing we knew, coins were flying all around us from below. Never seen so many one and two pence pieces fly through the air at once, lol.
  16. Yep, me too, lovely enjoyable sunny afternoon. On that fucking cliff I may add, which was fun. At the age of 19 I had no knowledge of such things as a risk assessment, lol. Best goal that afternoon, imho, was by the talented equally young man below.
  17. Worst ever Dundee linked P&B match thread I've had the misfortune to access. Always remember.........................................................
  18. Good luck to Shaun Byrne in his future career, he is by all reports an all round good lad. Really difficult to look back on any of the James McPake era without total disdain. Promotion was only gained two years ago due to Charlie Adam (having virtually invited and arranged his own signing the previous summer) dragging us up single-handed, kicking and screaming. Anyway, my solitary James McPake (managerial) favourite moment is as below at Rugby Park via Shaun Byrne's mobile. Thank you Danny Mullen for making us smile and mon' The Doc this season.
  19. Yeah, valid point @hk blues. I was thinking more of an annual 'historic shirt' being produced, with a limited run of for example 250, exclusively for the Christmas market. The actual choice of top could be gauged and decided annually by an open poll to the fans earlier in the year. Anyways, just a thought. 3 - 0 The Dee.
