  1. Amusing to see Tranmere fans posting how they like the signing but they need a box to box midfielder with more bite next to him…signed too fast, Brad!
  2. Useful to know…and that would give us Dick and Holt both capable of LB or CB…OK, sign me up.
  3. LB, DM and a CM. I’d say Holt is unlikely UNLESS Dick isn’t going to hang left with his new extension. If IM moves Liam to primarily CB, I guess Holt is possible. Docherty would be useful as another DM, but surely he, Brown and a Matthews all expect to start. Turner would possibly be an expensive two year punt on someone being willing to pay for him later this year or next, as otherwise we’re pretty fat there.
  4. Best guess is he wants you to disappear for a little bit so they have to parcel out your jobs…resulting in a clear delineation of what jobs you do, and a revelation. Second best guess, he’s playing you and wants “them” to realize you actually don’t do squat while being shown as doing everything. Third guess, he lost his favorite sock in the tumble dryer and wants you to climb in and go look for it, Alice.
  5. 538, in the U.S., constantly updates their database to calculate poll bias. The last run I see for the UK was this one from 2017 (cut and paste squished the bars…full post here https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/are-the-u-k-polls-skewed/). 6. Allows us to see where the mods are congregating so we can speculate where the ban hammer will fall next?
  7. I have the email and password saved on the device, if that provides any clues. Loaded from that memory both times. IPad, iPadOS 16.5, Safari.
  8. As always, when signing in, the first log-in attempt is rejected, the second (using the same credentials) is accepted. It’s been that way for a couple of years. Otherwise seems smooth.
  9. Agreed, but it does seem the CB market is significantly tighter than some other positions. The other note would be that English contracts seem to run until June 30th, perhaps delaying signings?
  10. Close, the anniversary of the day the Union commander in Galveston announced the Emancipation Proclamation…June 19, 1865 (hence Juneteenth)…a couple of months after Lee’s surrender and nearly three years after Lincoln proclaimed the slaves freed in rebel areas (but not occupied areas) on January 1, 1863. The actual full abolition of slavery was December 6, 1865, with the ratification of the 13th Amendment by three quarters of the States. Juneteenth has become a recognized Federal Holiday in recent years. Very unfortunately true.
  11. The Russian practice in the Soviet and later (until recently, and now again) eras was two years of service, two draft “classes” every year. The rule of seniority was very important, to the extent the senior draftees lorded over the the fresh fish. A good part of it was the lack of true NCO’s, with the “sergeants” and such simply being draftees with a little extra training and very little authority. That left the work that an NCO would do in most Western armies to be done by Officers, and since the Officers stayed in separate quarters there was little to prevent such behavior.
  12. Given the whole Championship seems to be looking for CB’s, along with others, I’m not sure how quickly they’ll be on board,
  13. Just feels like an excellent view of American society:
  14. No, it’s likely either a bot account, or a person with poor grammar, currently pushing the Russian line across threads.
  15. Hell yes, f**k the kebab…now back to your usually excellent football commentary!
  16. On the other hand, a team of player familiar with each other will often outperform a newly crafted side. Look at the recent record of newly promoted sides, it’s pretty decent, and most didn’t make massive changes.
  17. Why do that, when you’re already driving down the roads to Mariupol? You “settle” for Berdyans’k and you setup the possibility of truce lines keeping Mariupol in Russian control…you drive to the sea east of Mariupol, and you basically regain all the Ukrainian coastline as the Russians withdraw into Crimea due to supply issues, and then that brings the sole bridge and primary ferries that supply Crimea into range.
  18. Shooting was reportedly at 6:45 PDT. Don’t over react to it, but the really sad thing is no matter how rare things are, you have to be aware of your surroundings. I’m constantly amazed how rare the celebrated good guy with a gun is given the number of licensed carriers and, in some states, Constitutional carry. Channel 7, San Diego update…shooter still at large: One person is dead and another was injured after a shooting broke out at a Liberty Station park during a Juneteenth celebration Saturday evening, according to San Diego police. The shooter has not yet been found, police said. The shooting was reported at 6:45 p.m. at NTC Park at Cushing Road and Womble Road where personnel from San Diego Police Department and San Diego Fire Department were seen were giving CPR to one victim. Police later confirmed that another gunshot wound victim was injured and transported to a hospital. The victim's condition is not yet known, said SDPD Watch Commander Officer Robert Heims.
  19. Unfortunately, that is the modern reality of ‘Merica. Time for thoughts and prayers again from the Republicans…now you see why so many are now arming themselves, not that it seems to help any. Glad to hear you are safe!!!
  20. I’d say they plan to push for Mariupol, then dive east or west of the city and drive to the coast. No point in trying to take the city, the best plan would be drive down the highway to Mariupol and then a slant east to cut the land connection to nearly all the Ukrainian coast for the Russians.
  21. Local news report: SAN DIEGO — One person is dead following a shooting at a concert in Liberty Station Saturday evening, the San Diego Police Department confirmed. However, details about which spot in the center and the concert it took place at have not been confirmed. A suspect has not been identified by authorities at this time.
