No worry, it’s a Federal Court in Florida, specifically the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. All appeals from this fiasco go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit…and appeals from there go to the Supreme Court of the United States. Appeals from the District Court are normally heard by a three judge panel selected from the Circuit judges, but in this case an En Banc hearing would be more likely (all judges). The current selected by composition of the 11th is 1 Ford, 1 Carter, 1 Reagan, 3 Bush Sr., 3 Clinton, 1 Bush Jr., 4 Obama, 6 Trump and 1 Biden. Appeals from the 11th Circuit are handled by Justice Thomas, who is the gatekeeper to the Supreme Court for quick decisions, but an appeal in this case would certainly be immediately accepted if there was any question(s) on any of the decisions or actions. At both the Circuit and Supreme Court levels, rather than a new trial, attorneys for both sides present cases in a short, formal hearing and then the Judges/Justices consider that, and the entire trial record, and issue a ruling. The open question would be if either side would risk a jury trial. With the selected judge (Cannon), Trump is likely to be happy with a non-jury trial, but she’s a legal nut job, and gets regularly overturned like a compost pile. The prosecution would likely agree to non-jury to remove some of the discretion that jurors have that judges do not.

So, the real reason we let Lang go, we have a new draw for some demographics.

My workplace continually evolved, aided by Union contracts and societal changes…but the actual momentum for the change was it was a bunch of individuals, with problem solving skills, who constantly found ways to break the current rules… -Started with proper shoes (no trainers), collared shirts and slacks required…started allowing jeans, then slowly trainers and finally tee-shirts…switched back to collared shirts and no trainers…then back to whatever the f**k you like (no direct customer interaction in person, ever, all via radio/phone). At the earlier times, the amount of doctors notes permitting trainers, etc… -No regulations on cell phones until the mid 00’s, then restricted…banned…restricted…and finally mandated off (caused fun when alerts went off and busted those with them on in the pockets). -Couldn’t leave the facility…then one could leave to purchase breakfast/lunch/dinner for all (took cash from each, shows how long ago)…then no one could leave…then you could ask and perhaps go yourself…then you couldn’t leave again…then you were permitted to go for any reason for a reasonable period on break. The guards didn’t give a rats ass, as long as you offered to buy for them too.

Why is it galling, because it’s not like it’s unexpected. The U.S. education system fails by every rational standard to properly educate students about anything beyond ‘Merica, and even then it generally fails to even do that. There is an insular thinking virus that seems to have infected the U.S. over the last few decades, perhaps driven by Vietnam.
