  1. I remember that. Arranged a hillwalking trip to the Lakes around it so that on the Saturday I could train up to Gretna and watch the ICT game.
  2. Still, if Gretna 2008 and Vale of Leithen voted* to admit the two branches of Scotland's Shame, I hope they're really satisfied now. * I dunno if either of them did.
  3. Cinch can now be added to the Other People who can be blamed for any setback experienced by Old Firm (Ibrox) plc. Like tonight's...
  4. Aim must be to provide pathways for good young players to remain in Scotland as long as possible, rather than being drawn to Engerlundland or elsewhere.
  5. Can't get to tonight's game but we'll have to be a zillion times better than at Benburb to avoid a hammering from Talbot.
  6. Looks a good appointment. Good to announce it on the day that the misconceived TEAMGEEBEE start at the Limpix, too.
  7. Disappointing game and performance. Onward and upward hopefully.
  8. Benburb 1 Rob Roy 0 Poor game, two poor teams, only goal a scramble just before h-t.
  9. Big news story of course is the racist trolling of the penalty missers, quite rightly as it is disgusting, albeit forecast on this thread right after the shoot-out. Then there's the general English thuggery inside the stadium and outside. Trending on social media, coverage on local and national news sites except the BBC. They are awfy quiet about it. Why is that?
  10. Unlike other outlets, the BBC only tokenly reporting on English fan thuggery. One would hope they'll get onto the online abuse black players, including one best known for feeding poor kids, are getting from Brexiteer morons, just for missing penalties.
  11. Thank goodness. Get lost England and yer media cheerleaders, but poor shoot-out at the end of a tournament with no outstanding teams. Let's forget England now and try to get Scotland half-decent.
  12. Can't bring myself to watch this as I'd end up putting my foot through the telly. Watched the end of the tennis men's final instead
  13. These two boring blokes down the pub drone on like this for an hour?
  14. Why don't the Old Firm just fess up and admit they'd like all other teams to disappear and all leagues stocked with Rangersceltic A and B and C teams , colts and fillies and, er, geldings teams and many more besides. They so clearly have the head people of the SPFL and SFA in their pockets (whatever their fans think) that, with Scottish football 'writers' cheering them on, they will end up getting everything they want. Two Old Squirm teams are two too many for any country. How many will we end up with?
  15. The hope I cling to is English overconfidence, which can only have been boosted by our defeat to Czechia. We do have a record of turning over much better teams than us when least expected, but not really for a while. The double v France 2006-7 is perhaps the last one? England 2017 came close, but for yon half-hour of injury time.
  16. Credit to them for spotting that the Welsh keeper tend to dwell in possession so charging her with two players at a time. Certainly paid off. But agreed. Not sure what lessons are being learned here with no new manager even on the horizon.
  17. They sounded OK on telly. I've been at plenty of Hampden games when the crowd went quiet or moany when things went against us.. Crowd and team have to feed off each other.
  18. Scrape a win today, manage to hold out for a draw against an over-confident Engerlundland and how we do aganst Croatia really decides whether we finish 2nd or 3rd... I'm never an optimist and that's as optimistic as I can be. The pundits on telly, who don't really know most of our squad and haven't really done any research on Scotland, are generally failing to factor in the Hampden effect and our good recent record against Czech and our undefeated status v Croatia. Aye, I know you can pick holes in both but I'm clutching at optimism straws here.
  19. Aye, just as well I don't have a ticket as actually being there might be overwhelming.
  20. Summarises it nicely. Though I wish we could just call it 'kneeling' as 'taking the knee' is such a horrible Americanism.
  21. Working right up to pre-match (college marking etc) but then I'm going off-Zoom. Whatever happens I probably won't be psychologically capable of resuming work after the game. I hope Stevie C has shown them footage of the predominately English ITV and BBC pundits previewing our tournament - 'They have 3 or 4 players of quality, er, that play in DA PREMIAHSHIP, er, won't mention the others 'cause we've never heard of them, they have to win this because they won't beat ENGERLUNDLAND etc etc yada yada.' Should be plenty motivation.
