  1. It’s not really specific players though, it’s the incidents. As I mentioned earlier, if Morelos had pushed a defender in the face like Edouard did yesterday, would it have gone by without a single comment made about it? I strongly doubt it.
  2. In my opinion it's because he is a character that fans love to hate. One of those player's that you love on your team but would hate playing against them. He is petulant, he gets involved in conflict, he has had prior indiscretions and he has ability. I think these things mean people like to put the boot in, which I don't mind, but it's when double standards start creeping in and media outlets start over-analysing everything that he does my main issue is with.
  3. It's not, but it's their responsibility to judge when they should follow and player and when they should ease off. Many times, Morelos came as deep as the halfway line taking McKenna with him. On a lot of those occasions it congested the middle of the park and Morelos was receiving the ball in a fairly 'safe' area of the pitch. I felt most of the time he'd have been better allowing one of his DM's to engage Morelos that deep and cover the gap Morelos had tried to create for Aribo/Hagi/Kent.
  4. Man marking is good if you can prevent the player you are marking laying the ball off or you don't leave massive gaps for other players to exploit. I don't think he was any worse than his teammates on the day but to suggest he had Morelos in his back pocket when he was falling for Rangers' game plan hook, line and sinker is stretching it a bit.
  5. For arguments sake, say Aberdeen lose the next 2 with their depleted squad. 3 losses on the bounce to start the league campaign. 2 of their 3 games following this are potentially tricky away ties. Do Aberdeen fans think McInnes' position would be under threat if they have, say 5/6 points out of their opening 18 available? Or do you think the circumstances around the unavailable players will give him a bit of slack?
  6. Morelos dragged him all over the place last weekend creating massive gaps between your defenders. Yes Morelos never scored but by dropping deep he sucked in McKenna and he fell for it time and time again. The majority of the time I've seen McKenna against us I thought he has looked okay, but nothing more.
  7. Like I said before, I don't expect to agree on this - I just don't feel a player being held to a different standard than others can be justified.
  8. No, that is not my point. It’s simply to highlight the inconsistencies in reporting when Morelos is involved.
  9. My point isn’t that he is scrutinised in general, it’s that he is held to a higher standard than others. I used the Edouard incident yesterday as an example. I think it’s highly likely if it was Morelos involved the reaction would’ve been wildly different.
  10. Again, I don’t particularly believe this is because he plays for Rangers. But I think people are kidding themselves if they don’t believe Morelos is scrutinised to a higher degree than other players in Scotland.
  11. I wouldn’t say there is a campaign per se, but I wholeheartedly believe that incidents that happen up and down the country in every match are always under the spotlight more if Morelos is involved. They rumble on for days in the media (sometimes weeks like the last Rangers v Celtic match).
  12. I don’t think we will agree on this. In my opinion, Morelos is the most scrutinised player in Scotland and is held to a different standard by media and supporters. You may disagree, but I’m 100% convinced that if Morelos had done what Edouard done yesterday, there would have been an abundance of news outlets and media personalities commenting on it.
  13. No, certainly not. It’s more to do with the treatment of Morelos as a player rather than the team he represents.
  14. I’m not surprised the panel decided against micro-analysing the Edouard incident after the highlights. I’m sure Morelos would have been afforded the same treatment...
  15. I’ve enjoyed the Europa league the last 2 seasons, 1 more year won’t be a big deal. Congrats Hibs
  16. Correct, I was really just replying to Romeo who doubted the reports in the paper.
  17. Sounds like Lennon has confirmed it is true by saying the club are carrying out an investigation.
  18. I just felt we still seem a bit laboured when trying to create chances from open play. Decision making and side to side passes takes away from us being more effective.
  19. Ended up a routine victory in the end - still think we need to do more to create opportunities against teams sitting in. St Mirren caused a couple of problems just after half time and defended relatively well for the majority of the match.
  20. I’ve no got a clue how to pronounce it either to be honest haha
  21. Very poor defending for that set piece. Done well to create a yard for himself but it was as easy as you like for Alfie.
  22. Controlled performance from Rangers. Need another goal but I’m hoping the game will open up a little as St Mirren consider going for an equaliser.
