  1. Managers of professional football clubs often tend to have big egos and don't lack in self-confidence, it's almost a pre-requisite to be able to command a dressing room of professional players who often similarly have big egos and plenty self-confidence, but aye our Martin thinks he's the bees knees for sure and doesn't strike me as the listening type.
  2. Think that's a wee bit harsh on Brydon, quite like the look of him and the lad's been badly hampered by injury this season.
  3. Well ... that's a very polite way of putting it ...
  4. That ship sailed months ago when our wonderful board of directors announced they were leaving en masse at the end of the season, leaving a completely rudderless ship heading straight for the rocks and Bartley sat at home each evening watching his beloved Arsenal on Sky. The timing of that board announcement ... Jesus wept man ...
  5. Totally agree about the squad size, but I'm not sure I'd let the BOD totally off the hook. Yes the manager identifies the players he'd like to sign, but surely it's the BOD that approves each player contract, appropriate level of checks and balances etc etc. I'd have liked to think the BOD would have questioned the wisdom of signing quantity rather than quality. So yes, the main blame lies with Bartley but the BOD have to be partly culpable too.
  6. Have you never seen a team raise its game in a big match MT? I'm not ignoring the stats, nor am I saying that we might suddenly become half-decent overnight, but the players will/should realise that these final games start to take on significantly more meaning ... you gotta hope, you gotta hope, aye?
  7. OK, so I share some of Hector Bellerin's political views, and Fade Into You is one of my favourite songs, but ... this sort of thing is just tempting too much fate and is bound to bounce back and bite us ... aye?
  8. I get all points of view here tbf. I think what @Beepee67 is getting at is that it's the extra pressure on each game that's different at this time of the season. Of course all league games depend on hard work, desire and commitment. However, when you're down to only a handful of games left and the stakes are really high then its how you deal with that extra pressure - and you're just not under that same degree of pressure when its only matchday three or matchday twelve in the season. So the games all become cup finals now ... or at least they should be treated that way. In the dressing room on Saturday Bartley should be saying forget the (home) stats, it's all about what we do now, today. [... or alternatively, he could be asking if anyone's seen the Gooners team sheet for the 5:30 kick-off at The Amex ...]
  9. Had to be done. Remember when we had a good team? Remember when we had a support? Happy days ...
  10. Really ...? There's a bloody good chance we'll be there with them the way we're going ...
  11. 77 weeks for a cycle lane ...? I'm assuming that they only work on it on the first Saturday (mornings for the O/T obviously) of each month, aye?
  12. Wasn't too far wrong generally - got Accies and Falkirk the wrong way round (should have realised that McGlynn's steady hand would be the key factor) and of course it was even tougher for City than most expected . Like most Queens fans I wanted the Bartley project to succeed but could see that the squad being assembled wasn't going to be good enough - also underestimated the negative effect of Bartley's management style on that squad though. (Yet another) shocker of a season from Queens ... still a risk of it getting even worse.
  13. What does one of those look like again?
  14. Congratulations Bairns ... best team in this league by a country mile, well deserved.
  15. That also seals the league title for the Bairns, I think ...
  16. Aye, that's a big point with Annan also getting a point at Alloa today, and with Stirling the only losers today. Looks as though Kelty are heading to safety now and it'll be a three way fight between Stirling, Queens and Annan. Also, given that this was the game in the last six where nobody saw us getting anything, that makes it an even bigger point. Home to Kelty next ... three points there would be seriously useful ... Only concern would be losing McClelland, but good to see Brydon coming back today.
  17. ^^^ FTFY ... basic errors creeping in to the Bairn's abuse here, you need to up your game guys, aye?
  18. Suspect our only real hope today is to deploy a Craig Levein park-the-bus-masterclass - it won't avoid a defeat but we really can't afford to get our goal difference seriously damaged here as its currently better than the other doon candidates and could be worth something at the end of the day ...
  19. So sad to read of the passing of Iain McChesney, absolute legend, never gave less than his all on the pitch. A true club man start to finish. Rest easy Ches, rest easy.
  20. Brilliant piece of astute observation from the wee Airdrie fan there ...
  21. That new North stand is a cracker. Good mix of seating and standing.
  22. It's probably just my perception of the fixture from the games that I've actually attended. Over the years I've been to plenty of our games both at home and away and I don't think I've ever seen better than a draw - my first away trip to Hamilton was a mid-week 2-2 draw at the old Douglas Park in the mid-seventies, probably 76 I think - I can remember more about the hairy high-speed dash up the old A74 than I can of the game itself tbf as we only just made it in time for the kick-off. The moral of the tale is ... I should stay away from these fixtures. I'm tempted to head down to the game on Saturday, but maybe I should steer clear ...?
  23. Queens toughest game (aye OK, all games are tough for us just now ...) of the run in is our next up at Accies - we never, ever take anything against Accies and so we should safely secure the square root of sweet FA on Saturday without too much trouble. After that though we should have a chance to take something from each of the remaining 5 games (and we will need to), although Albion away is probably very unlikely. Think Edinburgh could cause mayhem on the run in as every game is a free hit to them and they'll be playing under no pressure whatsoever.
