Easy to laugh but I kind of agree with the sentiment.
A decent signing and some players re-signing and suddenly everyone seems to be happy to give McIntyre more time.
Even if all of our out of contract players re-sign and we bring in a few more players that doesn’t take away from the fact that McIntyre has been a disaster for us with not one iota of noticeable improvement. He’s been incapable of getting anything out of a squad containing (allegedly) some of the best part time players in Scotland and a load of his own signings, and I fail to see how that will change.
I’ve never seen a manager, any manager, turn this kind of situation around in all my years of watching football and I’d be astonished if McIntyre was the one to buck that trend.

Looking forward to a Saturday when we actually win a game.
Imagine if we didn’t have that purple patch in September? Would barely have been in double figures.
Sorry but I’m still very much in the McIntyre out camp.

Excellent signing. The kind of player we should have been targeting for the last couple of seasons.
Mind you we need to remember that there are no Scottish players good enough for us.

I quite like Dow. Ok, he’s no world beater but he’s solid enough. I think he’ll do well for us in L1.

Full time players aren’t exactly training 40 hours a week. I’m self employed and the type of work I do I would definitely still be able to run my business and play full-time football, age and lack of ability aside.
No reason McKenna couldn’t train 15-20 hours a week and still keep his business ticking over. Does he have staff? He might just fancy a crack at full-time football before the end of his career.

McIntyre’s Arbroath Record
Played 21
Won 2
Drawn 5
Lost 14
For 18
Against 52I’ve seen some terrible managers in my time but nothing comes close to this.
It really is mind boggling that he’s still at the club. Yes he inherited a mess but things have arguably got worse the longer he’s been in place, even with all his signings and a full squad to pick from.
He came in when we were on our knees with a very clear aim - to stabilise and fight for survival and he’s failed completely. We have gone down with a whimper.

Don’t look at our social media comments then. The usual bunch are out
Yeah, I try not to as there are some morons on there. Can’t believe the amount of folk that think we should have stuck with Campbell.

I came on here a good while back saying that it was a bad appointment and that McIntyre would do nothing to improve the club - especially with regards to the team bonding that is so important. Everyone on here will know who they are but there were regular posters on here that repeatedly refused to acknowledge it was in any way McIntyre’s fault and that he was placed in an impossible situation.
I wonder if they will finally acknowledge they were wrong about him? Alternatively I assume they still have faith in him turning this around next season?
A few of us, me included thought that it was far too early to judge McIntyre during the very early part of his tenure due to the shit show that he inherited. We were an absolute mess when he arrived and we were all willing to at least give him a chance
However it’s been far far worse than any of us hoped and I’m pretty sure we’re all united now in thinking that his appointment has been a compete disaster.
I don’t think there’s anyone left who’s willing to give him more time.

Don't think you should be having to explain or justify yourself to anyone.
Oh I know. Just pisses me right off when folk use this shit to belittle others’ opinions.
Housecaptain has been following the Lichties since Ned Doig was a lad but if he’s not at every single game home and away then he has no right to criticise.

As I live in Aberdeen and have done for 40 years, every game I go to (bar Cove last season) is an away game.
Life - being self employed and family commitments (2 teenage boys) means I can’t travel to as many away games as I would like to. Also not prepared to spend even more of my hard earned on watching the kind of football we’ve been served up for the last 2 seasons.

ONE attempt on goal in 135 minutes of football.
In the same time I think our opposition in those one and a half games have had something like 34 attempts.
Any one defending McIntyre needs their heid examined. He will NEVER turn this around.

Having seen us relegated several times over the years, this one is definitely the least sad for me. I have a feeling more of relief than anything really.
We all have our own opinions as to why we’ve ended up here and on McIntyre so I won’t go into that.
Our stay in the Championship has been some experience. I have many more positive feelings about it than negative and the club is definitely in a much better place now than it was 5-6 years ago.
The last 18+ months has been pretty miserable and I’m well aware that it’s dragged my own personal posting style down to a level of negativity that I’m not comfortable with.
Here’s to a new season full of new teams to play, better football, and hopefully many more wins and enjoyable games.

I think a lot of posters on this thread are underestimating League 1. I don’t think many of our players will be outstanding in L1.
Agree. I have a feeling that we’re no better than a poor L1 side at the moment. We could have a L1 next season with teams like Montrose, Accies, Alloa, Kelty, Stenny etc. Anyone who thinks we can just brush teams like that aside is deluded.
Even if all of our top, out of contract players re-sign that doesn’t mean much unless McIntyre suddenly shows us something that he hasn’t yet…. I won’t hold my breath.
Obviously hope for a brilliant title winning season but next season should be primarily about steadying the ship and building a solid squad imo. Give me a safe, no drama mid table finish and I'll be happy.

Great news. Our POTY by miles.

You forgot Toyosi Olusanya - now there’s a weird one. Utterly hopeless for us, spent most of his, limited time on the pitch for us falling on his arse. Now doing a reasonable job for 5th place Premiership St Mirren.
He was on loan but still, another name to add to the poop list.

We would need to win every game by about 4 or 5 goals with ICT also losing by 2 or 3. Bare in mind that we had ONE single effort on goal last Saturday.
Like a dying dog, just put us out of our misery please, thank you.

Getting the fans on board would not have avoided relegation.
Of course not but it would have made much more sense to have done something like this back when things weren’t quite so bad or toxic.

I'd like to imagine it will be civil. Surely nobody is going to go to one of these things with the intention of acting the arsehole.
I dread to think how many death threats will be made…. Also hope all attendees wear waterproofs and take umbrellas to protect them from the floods of spit.

Shouldn’t this kind of thing have been done weeks ago to try and get the fans on board, when we actually still had a chance of survival?
Shut the stable door once the horse has bolted.

Up until a few months or so ago I would have put as down as one of, if not THE best run club in Scotland. Even when we started to struggle on the pitch it still seemed like things were going very well off it.
How times change. A really bad feeling around just now. The board need a big period of introspection in the summer as they are in serious danger of losing a lot of what has been built up over the last few years.

I said this before but can anyone, especially the “give him more time” brigade, ever remember a manager - at Arbroath or anywhere else for that matter - go from having an atrocious record to turning things round? I can’t.
Yes, there have been guys who’ve had a less than spectacular start at clubs who have eased into it given time and money to spend on their own players, but I can’t think of anyone who’s ever been backed with a record like his - P20 W2 D5 L13 F18 A47 pts 11 (out of 60)

Unfortunately I can see us losing most or all of our un-contracted players.
Arbroath is a club going in the wrong direction and with a less than positive feel about the place. Plenty of ambitious L1 and even L2 teams that could be an attractive proposition for players looking for a new challenge.
A new manager and clean slate is the only way we can avoid this imo.
Sticking with McIntyre is just delaying the inevitable.

As an aside - I notice in the Stirling 1 Alloa 5 game today that Donnelly was an unused sub for Alloa and Hilson was subbed off for Greg Spence for Albion.
These are guys that have found their level yet Donnelly and Hilson were overly used by Campbell last season and the season before. Simply not good enough for the Championship and barely good enough for L1. Today is the result of 2 years of poor signings and over reliance on sub standard players…. As well as poor managerial decisions of course.

I agree with every single word you say.
However all Exile did was express an opinion that many of us probably share.
