  1. I understand there were comparisons made to how many members other fans groups have without the context that many of these members pay lower contributions than FSS. Another example would be the decisions to launch a competing fundraising scheme and increase ticket prices- I can’t see either of these helping to boost FSS numbers, so did the FSS support these? In my view the FSS should not just be there to support the patrons at all times- there should be challenge when necessary.
  2. Not advocating them fighting each other. However, patently the interests of people who’ve ponied up £10k minimum will not always be the same as people contributing a tenner a month. In my view, the FSS should be vocal in standing up for the interests of the wider support base when needed. You can see for example they’re unhappy about comments at the AGM from some patrons. The FSS needs to be able to criticise the board/patrons when necessary.
  3. One point I do agree with is the closeness of the FSS to the Patrons/board. In my view a fans’ organisation is there to represent and advocate for the interests of the supporters. Those will not always align with the board/patrons. There have clearly been some issues in the relationship- I.e. the FSS rep stepping down and now the board’s statements at the AGM. The FSS were perhaps right not to go out all guns blazing publicly on these but in not convinced they would be willing to challenge a more serious issue sufficiently. The other point I think will need to be looked at is the reluctance for political reasons to launch some sort of share save scheme to allow fans to hold shares in their names. There is clearly a concern that these individuals may not always vote as the FSS leadership would like them to, but at some point getting money in the door will need to take priority in my opinion.
  4. Fantastic result and performance yesterday, which really demonstrates the improvement McGlynn has brought about. A comfortable win against a side like Airdrie just wouldn’t have happened under previous managers. I think the activity in the January window could prove to be huge over the rest of the season too. Rowe looks to have solved a position that’s been an issue since Kieran Duffie left the club. We have great options on the bench now too. I do think Burrell will be understandably aggrieved to have ended up fourth choice striker but I’m sure there will be a role for him over the coming months.
  5. Always a change that was going to be made sooner or later as Kinnear was not sent up to sit on the bench
  6. That option is clearly off the table for political reasons
  7. Interesting one on the contract extensions- not something that’s been an issue the last few seasons. I’d be looking to extend the likes of Burrell, Lawal and Rowe but I wouldn’t be offering wholesale extensions at this stage. Much will depend on the league we’re in. On Nesbitt specifically, I’d want to see continued good performances until the end of the season. Still too many games where he doesn’t contribute enough in my view.
  8. I’d be looking to get Blaine Rowe in on a permanent deal if at all possible
  9. Very professional performance- it was all lined up to be a banana skin with the media hype and build-up. All credit to Mcglynn for ensuring we approached it with the right mindset. The whole team played well but Henderson, Morrison and Nesbitt in particular were excellent. Credit to Mcguffie too, who came on and did well after a long spell out of the game. Ayr will not be an easy game but we have every chance of winning if we play as we can.
  10. Really can’t see it- by comparison we took less than 700 to our quarter final against queen of the south in 2015. I wouldn’t expect us to have more than around 3000 either.
  11. Clearly as good an opportunity as we’re going to get for a trip to hampden. However, we have a big game to navigate tonight first. I would expect a crowd of 3000-3500 at a quarter final against Ayr.
  12. We’ve brought in 17 new first team players this season- Donaldson, McGinn, Oliver, Burrell, Henderson, Morrison, Mackie, Yates, Allan, Lawal, Kennedy, Meekison, Wright, Rowe, Alegria, Kinnear and Hogarth.
  13. In my view if it’s considered unrealistic for Falkirk to be challenging for the third tier title, we may as well shut the doors. I suspect McGlynn would agree. I certainly wouldn’t “bite your hand off” for minimal improvement on the worst season in decades, particularly when we’ve brought in 17 new players.
  14. In my view there is a place for 2 up front in some games while retaining width. The narrow midfield and punting long balls were nothing to do with playing 2 up front.
  15. Not convinced it was just the 2 strikers that was the issue. We looked at our most dangerous with Oliver and Wright up too. The problem for me was the dropping all width and punting long balls forward.
  16. I can see why he did it as no one wants 2 proven goal scorers sitting on the bench. However I’m not convinced getting rid of all your width and pumping the ball long was the way to do it. You wonder whether dropping Nesbitt and putting Oliver in behind Burrell, while keeping Morrison and Kennedy wide would’ve been better.
  17. We will need to come close unfortunately if we have any aspirations of winning the title given we won less than half of games up until December.
  18. Huge chance missed for us to put pressure on Dunfermline but a draw’s probably a fair result over the 90. First 60 minutes we were all at sea- no width, midfield posted missing with the strikers getting no service other than aimless long balls. Burrell was really the only player offering anything. I thought Nesbitt offered very little (and has done the last few games tbh after a couple of outstanding performances). A couple of spills from PJ too. Much better after the subs and change of formation. Burrell really should have scored with a great chance. Couldn’t see whether the penalty was deserved. You suspect Airdrie will need to do us a favour against the unwashed to keep the title race going.
  19. In all fairness I don’t think anyone has been calling for Morrison and Kennedy to be dropped and remove all width from the team
  20. There’s a lack of width in the team, which is forcing us to hoof long balls forward. I can’t say that Burrell and Allan look a great partnership either, although they’ve had very little time together.
  21. I have to say “leave our best players on the bench so we have someone to bring on when we’re not winning” is an interesting argument.
  22. In my view Burrell is a great prospect who we should be looking to hold on to. Only just turned 22 so he will improve too. I suspect he will want to be starting matches in order to agree a contract extension.
  23. Not a great performance today but good to get the win. Great substitutions, which changed the game. For me, Burrell has got to be starting games as he offers the best goal threat in the squad. I’d bring Donaldson in for Mackie as well.
  24. I see that’s the finance operation being brought back in house. Outsourcing it didn't last long.
